Conveniently Located I stopped into this Irish Pub on a day when it was just pouring rain. It was right across the parking lot from my hotel. I was seated right away and ordered a happy hour glass of red wine. Since it was an Irish Pub, I had to try their Irish Potato Soup. The soup came out just hot enough and was topped with chives, bacon and cheese. It was a very good soup and packed with potato chunks. I ordered the McCarthy's Pub Steak, a 10 oz. strip loin, which was topped with rosemary compound butter, served with a side of heavenly mashed potatoes and green beans. The steak was delightful, and although slightly overcooked, it was still a very good steak. The Green beans were fresh and firm and cooked perfectly, and were a great accompaniment to the steak. On their beer menu, I noticed they carried a Canadian beer from Unibroue Brassery in Quebec, which I thought was really cool. I sat at the bar for dinner. I was well taken care of by the nice lady behind the bar. I ordered a Coke, the fish and chips, and the chocolate cake. All were decent, but this is pub food, not fine dining. The fries were shaped like funky spirals like I've never seen before. That was unique. In terms of taste, I think they were under-seasoned. The cole slaw was dry and bland. The fish was pretty good; they came in nugget form rather than a filet. I was happy they served it with a giant lemon and lots of tartar sauce. The chocolate lave cake was also fine ... certainly not the best I've had, but it got the job done. I appreciated that they have easily accessible power outlets and USB ports right at the bar, so I could work and charge my devices. read more

Let's start out with "Hey, we must be in a college town!" Yes everyone seemed very young but maybe we're just old, LOL. The Harp & Habit is right across the driveway from the Best Western so it was very convenient on a cold and snowy night to stop in. Good beer and liquor selection. We sampled the appetizers like the wings and cheesesteak egg rolls as it was late and they were very good. The college student servers worked hard and took good care of us. I ended up eating here a couple of times when I was staying at a hotel right next-door. Their food is delicious. One day I had burger with the sidewinder fries, which were an interesting way to cut the fries. On another day, I had the fish and chips (same style of fries). But to me the French onion soup was the highlight. Everything tasted great, but that soup was a stand out. The beer selection was decent as well. The service was really bad one night and just OK on the other night. I'm assuming they source a lot of employees through the local college so maybe there was a chance I was unlucky with getting someone new, but that indicates a management problem. since I had different servers on different days and neither was adequate, that would be the only reason I would think twice about returning. Came here with family while we were in the area for the nutcracker village. The atmosphere is nice with a nice bar and some tv s playing sports. Our waitress was nice and helpful. She answered questions thoroughly although she was a little slow. The French onion soup was rich and flavorful with a good amount of cheese and bread in it. My pub steak was flavorful and cooked to my specifications although I did not taste the rosemary butter that's supposed to be on it at all. Recently tried the local harp in habit here in Stubenville, Ohio. I will give them credit as soon as I walked in immediate service eye contact. I was waited on immediately. It was a Saturday afternoon so I ordered the shepherds pie off of the menu to go because I had to get back to work. The portion was shockingly small when I was handed the to go container. So i waited to get back to work to open it up and look at it and yeah, there's not much food in here for $13. It's very very small portion. It was an entrée so i was surprised by this. don't know what entrées come with, but I'm not very impressed with this establishment, but I'll give them another try the taste is about a mid as far as flavor it might be just because it was a takeout portion and it is a little Off. read more

Great, local Irish Pub! The cheesesteak's are Philly legit. Outstanding fish and chips. Hot Honey Mac and Cheese is unique and great! Great bar staff. Love the decor on the walls, like in Ireland. Setting in Franciscan Square with outdoor seating in the summer around a green space, and an ice rink in the winter is as good as anyone in the valley. read more

I went safe with wings and tots based on bad reviews but the food was fine. The wings were wings. lol. Loaded tots were basic bar loaded tots. My Bartender Bailey was very nice and gave good service. It's a Pub. You want a pub you're good. I bet this place is awesome for St. patty's day. Final note they did have a decent bourbon selection. Staying in hotel next door for few days this week so we went in for dinner. Pub atmosphere is nice and the Maine Lunch IPA was excellent after hard day working with our son:) That being said the food is slightly below average "pub food" as my $14 pulled pork sandwich was a small portion of NOT "pulled or shredded" yet chopped meat in lot of sauce. Couple sliced pickles on plate and not even throw some chips to even make the plate "seem" full lmao Caesar salad was good and helped cool down the very spicy sauce. We ordered Doordash to give The Harp and Habit a try. Our order was package nicely with clear labels as to which meal was enclosed in each box. One of the items that we tried was the bacon smash burger which had Guinness beer cheese on top of it. Unfortunately there were only faint traces of the cheese, so I didn't get a real taste of whether it was good or not. The burger itself was just ok without anything special to include. The other item was the grilled cheese with short rib. There was a decent amount of meat on the sandwich and had good flavor. Such a cool pub. Everything we ate was delicious. We had wings, pretzels, fish, ribeye steak, chocolate cake, and edible cookie dough. And the speciality sodas were killer. Even though they were busy, they got us a table and were quick to take our order. I went back a few nights later for a fun night of live music. My family has gluten and egg allergies, so dining out can be difficult for us. However, The Harp And Habit was very accommodating for us. We had a tablet for our 2 year old daughter showing her a movie, and the staff was supportive of us trying to dine there while occupying her attention. The food was delicious and no one in our party had an allergic reaction, so the cooks got our orders (complete with the allergens we have to avoid) correct. Had high hopes, but as usual in this area ... it was beyond disappointing. The service was extremely slow (it took over 30 minutes, with only 6 tables occupied before we sat down). I ordered the Short Rib Grilled Cheese with Sweet Potato Fries. When my food finally arrived (I ordered "small," as I've come to expect crappy food around here) it was already cold. When I opened the sandwich, I was immediately struck by the fact that they wanted $15.00 for about 1/4-cup of meat (so about 2 oz) and not even a nice amount of cheese. The sweet potato fries were those frozen waffle fries that you can get anywhere in the world, so nothing fresh OR "locally sourced" about any of it! The sandwich comes with a ramekin of syrup. YUCK!! I waited another 15 minutes for our server to return to the table so I could show her the sandwich and lack of filler. Didn't even taste it, so I have no idea if it had any flavor. Wow visited last night with friends. Will not be back for a good while. Service very slow, even getting a drink. Food came out cold for all four of us. One couldn't even eat his, potatoes and gravy cold and hard. I ordered a burger no bun, cold but my fault I ate it....the bad part, it comes on a tray with a paper cover, well the burger of course made the paper wet and when trying to cut had paper fragments. My side was green beans, which were warm and tasty, did end up putting my burger in there , didn't like eating paper. The others ordered Rueben's, tasty but only lukewarm warm. I had the jerk shrimp tacos and they were AMAZING!! I loved the way the mango salsa paired with the shrimp. I also got a side of sweet potato fries and the hot honey sauce that came with it was MIND BLOWING! I would definitely come back. Such good food for a pretty decent price. read more
