My truck was damaged when a drunk driver ran 90 feet down a neighbors fence and the fencing scratched my truck. Steve's hometown collision had my truck for over five months and it still has three molding that the insurance company said was paid for that they claim they can't get. It is fraud if they do not fix what they were paid to fix. They spilled paint on the top of my cab and left it. Two of the doors have rough edges that rubbing against the end of the doors feels like it will cut you. One molding is missing and Colorado forums say that will cause corrosion in the hole at the front window and cause leakage into the cab. I would not recommend this body shop to anyone! read more

I was looking for a new car for my wife and our sales person Drew helped us decide on a vehicle . Drew was pushy at and didn't try high pressure sales tactics . He was very calm when we arrived 30minutes before closing . Drew and Travis were very pleasant and were good to deal with . Unfortunately I was sick and we were middle of a store storm , so I felt the urgency to leave quickly . They made arrangements to bring the paperwork and car to my house the next day. Very eager to make a sale...but if you are 80 yrs old and your new vehicle ends up sitting in the shop for over a week waiting for warranty parts they leave you stranded. "No loaners available" even if you live alone on the edge of wildfire evacuation zones. But they say, "We will keep looking." How about you look at one of the hundreds of vehicles sitting on the lot. You would rather leave an elderly woman stranded and potentially in danger than put a few miles on one of those vehicles. Still waiting. Fix the car or find a loaner. read more

Steve's has been excellent. I don't give a lot of five star reviews, I tend to be one of those people who often posts reviews when things go wrong. But Steve's has been so exceptional in my case, that I have to post a "things went right" kind of review. I'm not going to claim they are perfect. They are humans, doing the best they can with a difficult situation which I describe below. There were a few times when responses were delayed and things like that, and I started getting frustrated. Then I had to remind myself that I have yet to encounter "perfect" anywhere in the real world - especially in this bizarre post-COVID, supply-chain limited inflationary environment we are in. But the key to the five-stars I give them, why they are so excellent and stand out in my mind as the best dealership experience I've had in well over 50 years on the planet, is that they really care about doing right by their customers. I bought a car from Steve's last year, that ended up being recalled by the manufacturer for a defect. The manufacturer was going to take a long time to get the potential safety problem fixed, and meanwhile we had a lot of restrictions on what we could do with the car. I asked Steve's for help, since the manufacturer was being very slow and seemed overwhelmed. Steve's went to bat for me, and did a lot of phone and email volley with the mfg to keep things moving in my favor. Multiple times, they had to have arguments with the manufacturer reps, to make sure I was being treated fairly. The manufacturer is a huge corporation with tons of bureaucracy (as are all car manufacturers in my experience), but Steve's was the opposite. They treated me as a human being, understood the challenges that the situation had brought for my family, and they worked hard for a resolution. Especially helpful were Bill in finance and Art in sales. They helped the whole way through what would have been a long, drawn out affair - to make it easier and much faster. In the end, they put their own necks out going to bat for me. If they hadn't been willing to step up, it would be months to years more of waiting for the company to work through slow bureaucratic wheels turning, to resolve the issue. Instead, with their help, the situation was resolved better than I could have imagined, a bit over a month after I contacted them. I honestly never thought I'd write a five star review for a dealer. Most dealers in my experience are okay at best, and money-grubbing at worst. Steve's has changed my mind about what a good dealer can be. Thank you Bill and Art and all those who have helped! Great dealership. We were driving from California to Montana. Stopped in while passing through and traded our Honda C-rv in for a 2021 Silverado crew cab. We immediately liked the whole staff and would drive back to buy another vehicle. Jimmy Wilson the sales agent was great! No pressure, understood our time frame, worked patiently with us along with all his colleagues. The service dept was fast to add on accessories we got and finance was fast, easy, and smooth. UPDATE: After purchasing my truck less than a year ago and now at 10k Miles we started having issues with the truck. The truck would start to shudder when coming to a complete stop. When googling this, we were made aware that various owners of GMCs were having similar issues. We brought the truck in, the Service dept guy brushed off what we told them. Not to mention he was incredibly racist. After inquiring where we had moved from, we told him we were from California. He was as well but went on to insult asians and gays and why California is a trash state. I have family members who are asian and gay and this deeply upset me. My husband and I did not say a word to him regarding his behavior because we did not want to create a conflict. I told the man that GMC themselves said they'd contact the dealership on my behalf, they were the ones who referred me to come back to where I purchased the truck. His response "You spoke to those arabs who don't speak english?". I'm appalled at this point. When we arrived to pick up our truck, my husband informed them that he spoke to a GMC mechanic who mentioned that there is service bulletins placed out regarding the same matter we were having with our truck. Service guy again brushed off what my husband said! My husband asked for the keys back and said we would no longer be customers. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Taking my truck into another GMC dealership and once its fixed, I'm going to go ahead and trade it in for Toyota. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

We thought that we had purchase a 2022 Chevy Bolt premium from from this dealership. We had made a deal and put $2500.00 down. After a week the sales manager decided he wanted $2500.00 more on the purchase price. His reason was the the sales person made a bad deal and he wasn't going to honor it. We did get our money back finally and purchased a 2023 from Peterson Chevrolet in Boise for less money. We won't be dealing with this dealer in the future nor will any of our many acquaintances. Some of our friends call it Steve's bendover motors. We should have listened to them. read more

I had totaled my car and was looking on-line for a replacement. This beautiful white Buick Encore showed up at Steve's Hometown in Payette. I sent an e-mail that we wanted to come the next day and see it. It was a nice drive and when we got there we met our salesman, Art Camp. He was very polite and we got to take the car for a test drive right away. We really liked the car and decided to buy it right then. The paperwork went smoothly. Unfortunately, our car door (encouraged by one of our dogs) hit and dented another car right next to us. Ugh! Steve's worked with us and lowered the price of fixing, the other car, twice. My parents, who are in their mid-80s, went to Hanigan Chevrolet to upgrade to a new car and get an in-dash GPS navigation system, rather than using their current portable Garmin system. The salesman demonstrated the OnStar navigation system in the car they chose. My parents did not like it, because it was voice based and hard for them to understand, and they wanted regular GPS navigation in dash. The salesman said that when the OnStar trial period was over, it would revert to regular GPS. He repeated this throughout the sales process. When the 6-month Onstar trial ended, the system did not revert to regular GPS navigation as claimed. When my parents asked the salesman why it did not work, he said he couldn't understand what went wrong and he would have it looked at. The technician stated that their car usually came with a button that you could push to switch to GPS navigation; however their car did not have that button. In subsequent phone calls, the salesman was reminded what he had promised, and it was requested that he provide in-dash GPS navigation as promise. He offered to buy them a portable Garmin GPS unit, even though he knew they already had one. They took the complaint to the sales manager, who said that he believed the salesman, who now claimed he had not promised an in-dash navigation unit at all! The sales manager reminded them that the Salesman had offered them a Garmin, concluding with the customer-friendly comment, "I wouldn't have offered you that much." The communication continued via the Better Business Bureau, and escalated to the owner of the dealership, who also offered to purchase them a portable GPS unit, apparently not having discussed this with the salesman or sales manager, who knew that they had one. The owner finally out and out accused my parents of being slanderous, despite the fact that both have been long-time, respected business owners in the Treasure Valley, and one of them is a Korean War Vet. The bottom line is, the salesman misrepresented the functionality of the on-board navigation system, which was an element that was important to my parents. It appears that others at the dealership may be involved in the misrepresentation. Our family will never again deal with Hanigan Chevrolet. If you choose to do business with them, get everything in writing. Be sure that you get it from the sales manager and owner. This dealership is not customer focused. read more

I have not finished the purchasing process. This far there have been a few bumps in the road. Once Steve's Hometown figured out the mistake, they made it right immediately. Jimmy (salesman) has fought for me at every step and made buying a vehicle from out-of-state a breeze. I have bought a vehicle brand new in 2015 from a dealership in Northern Idaho that brags about best deals and customer service. They missed the mark and lied...so I came to the table with Steve's a bit guarded. They are honest and restored my faith. Tim (finance) is a stellar guy focused on superb costumer care. Tom (GM) took time to make me happy when he didn't have a lot of time to give. Leaving California in a few days to pick up the truck! Happy this far. read more

Had a few bumps in this venture. Picked a car on Saturday, started the paperwork, wait for shop to go thru it & bank to open on Monday morning. Received word Monday that car I was working on getting had sold on Sunday. I didn't think that was very good business to sell a car that somebody else had already started paper work on. In the end, they did make it right for me. My salesman, Tyler, did an awesome job finding me the right cars to look at. After my bank putting me in a bind the finance department at Hometown was able to get me financed & out the door in a great car. My experience was overall excellent! Thanks guys! read more

I recently purchased a vehicle from Steve's hometown Chevy in fruitland. The car was listed for sale prior to any inspection or cleaning. We had driven quite a ways to see the vehicle which we did infact get to test drive and then it was taken off the market for repairs. A few weeks later they called us because it was available for purchase. We spent an entire day hashing out details and driving the vehicle. There were several mechanical issues that my husband identified for them. We purchased the vehicle and upon getting it home discovered that their mechanic had not completed whatever he was working on and the dealership sold it with an incomplete ticket. The whole dash electrical was undone, headlights, stereo, air conditioner, everything electrical was connected wrong or not connected at all. The radiator had to be replaced, and several other things. My husband was able to fix the incomplete repairs, but imagine if I was a single woman and they sold me that vehicle with a long list of incomplete or broken issues! They are unorganized. So now I've had the vehicle a few weeks and we have fixed several issues. Lastly, they still have not paid off the car I traded in, so it continues to accrue interest and has resulted in a late payment on my credit!! I paid them in full the day of the purchase and they have not paid the bank for my trade in!! This is such a bad financial business and they really negatively impacted my perfect credit history!! read more

Drove In from boise to purchase a vehicle off of there website that had no pictures. I had to call several times to finally get someone to assist me. Since there were no pictures on there websites I asked if pictures could be sent to me first after having to ask 5x for a pictures. then 2 hours to get me 1 picture as they had to locate the vehicle by the time we arrived 5 hours after initial contact and no one could find the key to the car by our amazement the key was left in the vehicle as they couldn't remove it. We jumped the car with ours and got the key removed ran the codes as it has issues. Decided we wanted the vehicle for our family of 7 we were going to put in the money to fix the car. Because of the cars condition we asked that the price was knocked down a little as we had to drive there for no one answering us having to jump it and run codes. The manager couldn't come out and talk to us himself made excuses up on how he messed up on the price of the vehicle which is untrue as 2 other employees asked him if it was correct. Pulled out a KBB value for the vehicle which was incorrect for the vehicles condition. We ran the value ourselves based off the vin and condition and it was no where near what he said it values at. After talking amongst ourselves we decided to purchase elsewhere solely on how the manager was acting and the way he is running his business. Will not purchase from this dealership because of the management. read more

I bought a car from Steve's and received a 1 year free maintenance plan. Sounded really nice. I took my car in for an oil change and they said the filter needed replaced because it was dirty. I thought the gentleman said it was $15.99. It was hard to hear through the mask. When I went to pay, it was $64.49. Apparently he said $59.99, which I would never have agreed to as my husband is a mechanic and could have replaced it in a few minutes. It turns out the filter was only $23.50 and they charged me nearly $35.00 in labor. Who charges labor to change a filter? I have gone to Einsteins and Jiffy lube and other dealers and not been charged to change a filter. They have to take it out and put it back if you don't replace it. Why does it suddenly cost $35 more to put in a new one rather than reinsert your old one? I would recommend Modern Auto to anyone looking for a more reasonable priced service. read more

This company has lost my business. I had problems with two of their stores. I have purchased from both. The experience with the one in Weiser as well as Payette is what has prompted me to join Yelp. After having issues with the employees who manage the website in Weiser, I decided to check out Payette. It should be said that I purchased a new car from Weiser a couple years ago and had a great salesman named Greg. EVERYTHING about dealing with Greg is what I expect when buying a car, especially a new one. Their internet people are worthless, but Greg in sales was awesome a couple years ago. So in Payette I dealt with a "manager" named Chris. From there it went downhill. He kept tacking on an extra $2k at the end with no explanation, which blew the deal. I had to call the next day to get someone else to fix it. Took only a minute once I spoke with someone who was actually able to listen. We scheduled a time to pick up my truck with 5 hours of advanced notice. When I arrived, I finally found Chris playing on his cellphone and let him know I was there to wrap up the deal. He said OK and walked away. We stood there for 15 minutes still not sure if he was coming back or what was going on. We finally grabbed a chair at a desk. After still sitting there at the half hour mark with no info or updates (they had FIVE hours notice) we got frustrated. We decided that if we still had no contact from the employees within the next 15 minutes we were getting in our trade and leaving. Just before that deadline I caught Chris walking by, still not acknowledging us, and asked him what the hold up is (sitting there by ourselves for 43 minutes). He asked if we were in a hurry. A hurry? Five hours was not enough time for them? They had no respect for us or our time. Chris disappeared into an office, thinking he was prompting someone in there to get things going. It turns out that the only person in that office was him! He was the one who needed the kick in the butt. It took an hour to get to sign papers for which we were already approved almost 6 hours before. I had planned on an hour for the salesman to walk through the stuff on my new truck. Chris apparently felt that that time would be better spent sitting by ourselves at a desk. I have never experienced this lack of respect at a dealer in 40 years. Jaime the salesman should have been sitting with us or going over the truck so Chris could finish messing with his cellphone or whatever took him almost 6 hours to finish our paperwork. It was like it was everyone's first day! Looking for a new car for my wife right now and am going somewhere else. Who wants to go in to spend $30-35k on a deal that is already negotiated hours before and receive no respect. Shop somewhere else. Any dealer toward Nampa/Caldwell, or anywhere else, will value you as a customer (repeat in my case) more so than this circus in Payette.
