Took my son for a haircut and Avi did an amazing job. Hands down one of the best barbers in the game and walk-ins are welcome.

Go in with an appointment or they will rush your haircut if you don't have one. Didn't cut to what I asked for.

Best barbershop in town. Can't go wrong with anyone there. I recommend giving them a shot. Very reasonable prices and not a long wait time.

It's always tough going to a new barber because you don't know what you're gonna get but Danny hooked it up.

I'm guessing the reviews are for the service. This is the…read moreplace I always go to for hair cuts and getting my eye brows done-and I live in DC not New York lmao. In terms of quality for price, it's 5 stars. It's so cheap and it's just as good as a haircut twice the price. In terms of service, I can see why it gets 3 stars. Their English level is extremely rudimentary, and since I know Chinese it's way worse, they always make fun of how bad my hair is and how bad my eyebrows are. Luckily I think that's hilarious and am able to laugh at it. But the ratings for surprise me despite this place being my mainstay.

He stepped away to do someone else's hair in the middle of my haircut, annoying but it's fine. I wasn't in a rush Now the lady who washes hair. ABSOLUTELY TRASH. HORRIBLE. Part of getting your haircut at a Chinese salon is the hair washing. That deep cleanse. I feel gross after her two minute hair wash. Plus she kept talking shit about other customers in fujianese. She talked about how smelly they were and complained about how low of a tip she kept getting. I wonder why.. Aleast no one answered her.

I told him I wanted to go a bit cooler than my natural brown because I had recently done a color analysis and found out I'm a "cool winter". He immediately understood and recommended the color for me. After showing him some pics of what I wanted for my haircut, he also made appropriate recommendations. He even asked if I had any restrictions for work and if I go to the gym and need to tie my hair up. It was so lovely to talk to Jason throughout the appointment (even with my elementary Mandarin skills ) Jason's partner was also very attentive while washing and coloring my hair. The booking process was very seamless and the salon texted me to adjust my appointment. The salon itself is so nice and clean, very relaxing to be in. I'll definitely become a regular here!

This hair salon has popped up in my searches every time I look for a simple hair cut and I've…read morefinally come to try it out. My sisters and mom have been coming pretty regularly and are happy with their haircuts so I swung by to get a simple wash & cut. I walked in on a week day around 12:30-1 pm or so, without making a prior appointment. I mentioned that I had to be at a doctor's appointment by 2pm, would it be possible for them to fit me in for a haircut? They said it was doable. They were nice and thorough with washing my hair and I ended up having my hair cut by Kenny. My Mandarin Chinese is just so-so and maybe because of that they thought I could speak Cantonese haha (I do not). They offered to speak to me in English but I was like no no, let me use my mediocre Mandarin but we were able to communicate just fine lol. I was unable to judge how well they can communicate in English, for anyone who might not speak Mandarin. On that note, I'd recommend coming prepared with reference pictures! My hair length was to my chest, like maybe mid chest length and very thick. I asked for my hair to be cut about shoulder length and every time I ask this at any salon, hair stylists are always like, are you sure you want to chop off that much at once? So I conceded and had it cut a bit below shoulder length so that I could still tie my hair up in a tiny ponytail. In addition to the cut, I asked for my hair to be thinned quite a bit (imagine Hagrid level of hair, I kid) as well as a slight side bang. Just in case, I came prepared with reference pictures and showed Kenny my reference pics along with my requests before he started cutting. Kenny was pretty efficient in cutting & even styled my hair nicely before the time I had to leave by. I've paid much more elsewhere for about the same simple haircut so the prices at Hair 101 are very fair. I think my sisters usually pay base price $30-35 for a wash & cut but my base wash & cut price was $40. It could be due to the thickness & length of my hair (my sisters have thinner hair) or perhaps the person cutting my hair? My sisters said they usually have their hair cut by a lady named Even at the salon & are happy with her cutting skills as well. There's a bathroom down the hall that you can ask for the bathroom key at the desk. I paid in cash & was on my merry way in time for my appointment. Although I did ask Kenny about how busy it usually is and he mentioned that they tend to get a lot busier in the afternoons so I must have gotten lucky right before a busy period. If you're worried about waiting, I'd say make an appointment ahead of time if coming at a busy time. Overall I'm pretty happy with how my hair turned out and the price of my service, I rec! The salon is on Main Street, closer to Northern Blvd and I think on the 2nd floor.
