I love Stew Leonard's! I used to go to the one up in Yonkers and was very happy this one open closer to home. After the mall I always try to come here to pick up sale items. The meat and produce is top notch. My daughter loves all the singing displays ever since she was a baby. As a 16 year old, its nostalgic for her. I was very happy today when I saw they are finally selling sandwiches. The service was a bit slow BUT for 3.99 for a burger, you can't beat it. We ordered some fries and it was only 2.00! A guy before me ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and it was humongous. The guy was having trouble wrapping it up to fit into the box. They also have tasting all the time so you can always get a "snack" while shopping. They also have a good bakery department with many offerings. The corn muffins and are good and the .69 bagels are a bargain. And when you think it can't get better, if you spend over 100.00, you get a free ice cream or a coffee. read more

I was so excited when I found out a new supermarket was coming to town! Since Waldbaums and Pathmark closed down, I knew Stew's was going to be my happy place. Unfortunately not. I have been to Stew's about 4 times too many. I wanted to give an honest review. This supermarket is a maze, similar to Ikea. So if you are in a rush, this place isn't for you. The prices are expensive for the products. $4 for pancake mix really? Eh Besides the sky rocket prices on groceries they do have a variety of options. There is a bakery with every treat possible. They have sushi station, ice cream and a pizza station which is horrible so stay away. Even though I didn't buy much groceries I wanted to partake in the hot buffet. The foood smelled amazing and looked great. It's gross all of it. I tried the pizza, gross! The wings, gross! Just save your money. Ordered roast Turkey breast and pies for Thanksgiving. The turkey breast was so delicious, moist and perhaps the best I've ever eaten! Stew Leonard's has become one of my favorite places to visit and buy groceries. Life can be so stressful so this place adds some sprinkles to your day. Like literally, they have ice cream, coffee, they make their own bagels, mozzarella, they have a sushi bar, hot food buffet, butcher with fresh meats, seafood, lots of organic options, fruits, veggies and lots of goodies and a variety of beer... their prices go from oh snap! That's cheap to oh snap! That's not so cheap but it's worth going. There isn't a dull moment. It's well organized, they get you in and out. No wandering and every aisle has something singing or flipping keeps the kids a bit occupied and entertained, which is important. I don't have to go all the way to farmingdale either, they've opened up a location in East Meadow. Much closer to home. I have been a fan and patron of Stew Leonard's stores since long Before They arrived in my area. Now that there is a store located close to my home, I stop there often, even when I am only interested in a few items. To walk the aisles at Stew's is to be tempted several times at every turn. Lately, however, I have given into some things that I rarely consider, and I have been disappointed by the taste and/or freshness. First it was a pair of freshly made soups. We all know that area of the store with a wall of soups in tall containers; 2/$15 seems expensive for two servings of soup, but sometimes you figure it's worth it for delicious homemade soup. Well let me tell you, I regret the purchase and I will not need to try these in the future. Especially the New England clam chowder, I was not impressed and ended up tossing half in the trash. Then today I brought home the five layer dip, which is always tempting near the front doors. The container says nothing about heating this layered Mexican appetizer. However, my experience is that these things are best served warm. There is shredded cheddar cheese on top, so why would you not want to melt this for chips to dip? However, the sour cream, salsa and guacamole says no this is meant to be cold (as is the thin meltable plastic container), so you tell me? In any case, the taste of this lame dip provided the answer; it was sour and just not appetizing. I don't expect that heating and melding the ingredients together would have helped. Anyway, I still love stew's and the steaks and seafood is much better than the competition. But I can walk through the aisles a lot faster now that I needn't contemplate some of the things I used to crave. read more

Unacceptable! I placed a Thanksgiving order for a cooked roasted sliced turkey breast! Nightmare! When I got the food home I noticed a foul odor was emitting from the box packaged at Stu's! I opened the box and removed the tray labeled "turkey breast", upon looking at the sliced turkey I realized it was uncooked in the center and smelled horrible! Certainly uneatable ! So no turkey dinner for my family and guests! I had to place the tray of turkey outside because the odor was so terrible! Thank God we didn't attempt to try it! I was devastated and embarrassed! Back to Stu's I went in the morning! The manager could offer no explanation but said I was not the only customer with this issue! I was refunded my money with an apology! Well my Thanksgiving was ruined by Stu's! I don't think I will cater from Stu's in the future! Well I have changed my mind about using Stu's catering in the future! I will try them again! Today I received a call from the kitchen manager John to discuss my issue, he was professional and apologetic! He really felt terrible about my Thanksgiving issue! He offered his personal cell number so I may call him directly to place any future catering orders which he said he would take care of! I also received an e-mail from the store manager Carl who offered a $50 gift card! I have put this episode behind me and look forward to continue my relationship with Stu's! I even found my Oatmilk, except they didn't have the Extra Creamy version. I also didn't find any lobster, only frozen tails. Didn't see a lobster tank. My only complaint (doesn't apply to his location specifically, but to all SL stores), the store is a maze so it's definitely not ideal for quickly picking something up. The regular prices aren't great, but their specials are amazing! I've bought king crab legs for $9.99/lb and wild jumbo shrimp for $8.99/lb. They also have a coffee shop and ice cream/frozen yogurt shop inside. Definitely a cute place for kids, but it can be noisy for adults. read more

I love the little interactions throughout the store where you push the buttons and the animatronics goes off. A Stew Leonards 12 minutes from my house? Couldn't be happier. We have been going to the various locations for some 20 years now, and a local outlet is a dream come true, Even though the place is infused with a spirit of fun from start to finish, the real story here, for this foodie, is the quality of food. Their vegetables, meats and seafood are the best around. The hot foods, especially the fried chicken are first rate. I like the fact that this store is half again as big as the Farmingdale outlet. One important thing that i didn't see mentioned much in these reviews is the checkout area. It is not acceptable to Leonards that you stand in lines behind three or more customers, so I have never had to wait more than two minutes to check out, no matter how crowded the store is. Other grocers in the area should take note. All in all, they got 5 stars because there is no option for six. read more

I spent $58 on pre-cooked beef that I had to spit out because it was so tough. Broccoli rabe had no olive oil, that I could detect and it was mostly stems. This location is definitely better than the Farmingdale location. It's bigger, with more room to maneuver your cart, and more checkout lines. There are also a ton of food stations if you want to have a meal before you leave. There is a sushi station, BBQ station, hot and cold buffet, pizza, a deli, kettle corn, and ice cream. Now the reason why I only gave 3 stars. At the end of the day, you cannot do a typical food shop in any Stew's location. The aisles are laid out like an Ikea where they intertwine into one another. They have a limited supply of lactose-free milk (either their own version of Lactaid or Silk Almond). Very limited supply of spices, condiments, other various things one may need when trying to cook a meal. You can't just run down an aisle and grab a box of Cheerios, pay, and leave. Nope you have to walk through the maze just to get what you need. They do have nice restrooms, though! And the checkout lines are super quick. Also the hot food I tried for dinner was not terrible. What has happened to this supermarket four years ago I thought it was the best thing that has ever happened to New York but now every time we go in the East Meadow location it's terrible! Today we went in the store and we always get the half a chicken where they keep the ribs and the chicken dishes. The guy behind the counter told me that they're in the hot bar temporarily because the other side of the counter is not working so we went to the hot bar, got the chicken like we always do. We always pay four dollars a pound which is a terrific bargain today at the checkout they charge me 1099 a pound. They charged me the amount that was in the hot buffet that is just wrong! so I paid $20 more for the same thing and they know what they're doing! I'm not gonna go all the way back there and return it even though I got ripped off! also the app keeps signing itself out and will not take the password so you can't use your points for anything or get any points. The asst manager told me to use my phone number which I did but when I looked at the receipt, nothing was upgraded. The bottom line is this, they have gotten very expensive more so than any other supermarket they literally ripped us off. It's not my fault that the hot plate behind the counter was broken. He's clearly said oh you could get it at the buffet table but they charge me 1099 a pound instead of four dollars a pound, it ended up costing $20 more. I know the review is repeating myself. I'm just so upset with this company every time we go in now it's a problem the help used to be very friendly and now they don't even say thank you! they're all disgruntled. Stay away from the Stew Leonard's in Farmingdale NY. My van was parked in the parking lot and a stew Leonard's cart crashed into it and broke my mirror off. Their carts were all over the parking lot with no one collecting them. Put a claim in with stew Leonard and it took 3 months to come up with an answer. The claim was denied. Stew Leonard was at fault but they wouldn't admit to it. Had to pay $800 out of my own pocket. Will never shop at Stew Leonard's again read more

I have been going to stew Leonard's in Yonkers for years. When you opened the Long Island location it was literally a prayer answered. YES IM AN ACTUAL CUSTOMER AND NOT A BOT OR FAKE PROFILE. The freshest ingredients you can get while supporting local agriculture. The fact that majority of stew Leonard's products come from their own farms is what attracted my father to start doing his meat shopping here. The quality difference is noticeable. A supermarket where buying store brand products is actually preferred over the name brand "stuff". Friendly and helpful staff everyone is smiling and enjoys working. Not to mention the free ice cream when you spend over a certain $$$ amount. Definitely my favorite supermarket. read more

Burned twice in one day. I went to Stew Leonard's this morning to pick up a treat for my coworkers, Stews is right around the corner from my office. I picked up cookies and mini Apple turnovers totalling $13. The turnovers were stale. I was so disappointed and at $6 I felt cheated. The cookies were delicious though. Later on the way home I was running late and decided to pick up a roasted chicken for dinner. The case was empty but in the next case there were 4 Stew's Naked rotisserie, at $6.99. I thought okay why not pay a couple of extra $ for a better quality chicken. Dry and overdone. I'm so disappointed. Terrible quality and high prices. read more

I had to give 4 stars because they often turn off some of the entertainment. They also give you a free coffee or ice cream ONLY if you spend $100 or more on one receipt which is alot for one trip. this past Sunday I visited stewleonards of East Meadow I purchased a freshly prepared QUESO DIP And a lithely salted bag of tortilla chips to go with it. there was a sample for the customers to try and it tasted so good my husband and I could not resist buying it . unfortunately the dip is either spoiled or made wrong it is absolutely awful! it has jalapeño in it and I thought that would make it even more tasty. This Grocery Store is located in East Meadow. It's very accessible to all. It has a very large parking lot that makes parking extremely easy. They have plenty of handicap parking in this lot. Also they have wagons to be put away by yourself in the lot so be care where you park and please return your cart. Sincerely, everyone who shops here. The outside is normal and not too crazy. It has seasonal sales stuff outside. Once inside is the big change where it's basically an amusement park for kids. Where you will have your kids pre occupied so you can shop. They have moving and singing animatronic animals everywhere! Hanging from the ceiling and in the food displays. Be carful the prices are high and you can run up your bills quick with a full wagon. The quality is definitely there for sure though buy you have to pay for it. It literally has everything except for traditional canned and boxed goods. Also, no household goods. It has all the edible foods from raw to cooked that you could imagine. For some reason everything closes really early and you can only shop on the shelves. All of the departments are closed early so your left with the days left overs. If your dragging your kids here while you do the weekly food shopping, it'll be like a mini theme park. They have put so much detail into the animatronics and themes for this place, any person, any age will enjoy the time spent here. Prices are great, especially when you buy their brand... (ps: get StewLeonard's OJ, it's delicious), the bakery fills the whole store up with the most mouth watering smell... I literally gain weight as I inhale as I first walk in. Word to the wise, do NOT leave here on a weekend without walking through the cheese section. They have so many samples and the flavors are amazing. Once you walk passed chedda, it's their store cooked, freshly made food section... and it does not fail. If you get the chance to go... I'm highly recommending the onion chicken sliders (Stew Leonard brand)! I bought one pack and grilled them...I don't think I've ever, let me repeat that ... EVER... tasted a better chicken slider. ST's quality butcher section attracted my attention with their $3.99/lbs short ribs sale. I appreciate the corny characters for the kids, excellent deli and bakery section, and quick check out lines. It has the maze-like set up that IKEA has so that you get to see all of their products, but difficult to make a quick food run if your item is in the middle of the maze. read more

Bought grass fed burgers and brought them home. As soon as we opened the first package, an overwhelming smell came from the package. Looking at the dates, we saw that it was 2 days beyond the best before. We returned the packages and brought others within date home. Again, when we opened the packages, there was the same overwhelming smell. We brought these back for a refund and the person at customer service confirmed that the meat was bad and issued a refund. Being pregnant, I didn't feel comfortable picking out any more meat from this store due to potential risks. We ended up going to another store and buying burgers there instead . read more

This place is a set up! I walked in for milk and bottled water, but walked out $200 broker. They arrange the groceries in such a way that you HAVE to pick up 3 different types of fresh baked bread, 2 fresh baked pastries, 3 cases of craft beers that you can't find anywhere else, and enough damn fresh fruit to make you feel like a monkey. I hated them...but then they handed me my receipt and offered me a free ice cream cone. Told them I'd be back to shop again tomorrow, snatched my delicious cone, and left. Bastards. read more

I'm really happy that they opened a Stew Leonard's in a location that's convenient for me. I'd already gone grocery shopping by the time I heard about it to I was mostly visiting to scope out the products and hit up the hot buffet for lunch. My impression of the store is that it's not really crowded (for now). Once word catches on that will surely change. Lot of interactive displays and eye candy to keep the kids busy. Great selection of products, good quality, nice variety as well. They offer things most other markets don't offer to set themselves apart like for example they have a growler filling station. They're prices are competitive on some items and others not so much. Some good sales that were notable: Cod at the fish market was $4.99 a pound. Dislikes: 1. A lot of the "packed on" dates on the labels for pre-packaged items have been left blank. That's cause for concern when it comes to things like seafood especially which can easily take a turn for the worse and cause some horrific stomach issues. 2. Express checkout was awkward. A cashier calls me up and her area is full of random crap with barely any place to set down my items. She kept staring inside the contents of my purse as she distractedly rang up my items at a speed that couldn't be further away from "express". She then proceeded to put my buffet container in my bag SIDEWAYS!!!! If I was one of those people that didn't like my food touching this lady would get a stern talking to. The Indian food didn't bode well mixed with the olives and fried fare. They're all 7.99 a pound no matter what station you go to so I combined to save bag space and be less wasteful. By the end I had some sort of hodgepodge of foods that were all jumbled so I couldn't really enjoy the flavors of each very well. To top it off the container leaked. 3. Some of the items on the buffet are not labelled so it's like a guessing game. I got one meat that looked pretty tasty. I was feeling adventurous. It ended up being brisket (I think). 4. ZERO and I mean ZERO napkins at the buffet area. All of the napkin holders were empty. Channa masala stains instantly. Be careful. In any case this area needs to be maintained a bit better. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now since they just got up and running. 5. My arms were not long enough to reach the items in the back row of the salad bar without pressing my face up against the glass. OUCH! 6. The mac and cheese in the buffet section looked completely untouched and I wondered why. I walked over and stirred it. As soon as I moved the top section off I discovered a very thin liquidy stream of yellow cheese water. Yes that's right I said cheese WATER and NOT sauce. Oh the horror! Likes: 1. The store is clean, roomy and organized. Everything has that new supermarket glow to it. 2. I saw an employee manually testing the temps of the hot food area for quality control and making notes. Glad to see they actually care enough to do that. After I returned to finally give the food a try I discovered the following..... I love the olives and the olives love me! The award winning lobster roll is just okay. I read the ingredients and it honestly tasted like much of them was missing particularly the horseradish and dill. If those stood out a bit more it would make the flavor much better. There were nice lumps of meat though so I'll give them that. The potato roll was fresh too and for $9.99 it's still not a bad deal for lunch but have some salt and pepper ready in hand because you'll likely need it. The Indian food is pretty bland and if you are scared to try it out of fear it may be to spicy, don't be. It's beyond mild. The fried fare included chicken wings, fries, etc. The fried buffalo ravioli was hard enough to break your teeth on. the mac and cheese bites were meh. The boneless chicken was not bad and pretty crunchy. The mozzarella sticks don't travel well. If you aren't eating it there, they'll be rubbery by the time you arrive to wherever you're going. The brisket was pretty good. They also offer healthy options so that's a plus. It's got more variety than the Stop and Shop buffet, that's for certain. I love this place ! It's brings a new reason to enjoy grocery shopping on any given day. I came here on a Sunday around closing time. The crowd was minimal and parking shouldn't be much of an issue given the nice size front and back parking lots. When you walk in your drawn in to their own little coffee shop. I got a small ice coffee, Columbian Blend. It was 2$! You then cohesively walk thru a coffee area where you can browse through the variety of coffee bean blends they have in display cases to choose from. I had a lot of fun just smelling through the ones from different places/ countries. The bread section was much smaller than the average grocery store but the ones they do have are worth trying, which you can since they have bread samples! Their store brand cookies (my favorite being their Oatmeal Raisin and Walnut) definitely hold their own amongst other bigger names. The fruit platters looked much fresher than my local Stop and Shop and there's also Cheese samples! I was underwhelmed by their pasta and sauce selection entirely. Given the quality of the products they sell, I would've expected better in this category. I was excited to find that their beer section lifted my spirits right back up ! It's 11.99$ for any 6 single bottled/can beers of your choice. The diversity of beers makes it a good time to try ones you've never heard of. No worries about how to carry them, the store provides a 6-pack cardboard carrying box. They have a vast hot food buffet. Their wings both classic and teriyaki are better than some restaurants. And if you wanted to just stop in for lunch, there's a table and seating area by the exit to sit and enjoy. Forgot this place opened on LI... used to go in Ct and in Tarrytown. I did know how I missed all the great things these stores represented. Best Dairy anywhere by far really fresh. Extensive fruits and vegetables in or or out of season. Fresh caught fish and unbelievable meat department... I love the fresh cheeses from around the world and to top it off one of the best craft beer selections around period. So glad I went there today as it made our dinner complete. Fresh prepared salmon, fresh broccoli, back potatoes . We are quite satisfied. You just have to go to see for yourself. AMAZING! read more

Beautiful, clean store. Not too crowded on a Tuesday afternoon. You may not find everything here but there are interesting items that you won't find at a typical supermarket. They have a nice selection of local food and products. I found Holy Schmitts Horseradish which is made in Riverhead and is the best horseradish on the market. Quality counts, I am not looking for the cheapest stuff so quality first, then price. Lot's of fresh produce and a good percentage is from nearby farms, ie CT and upstate NY. Couldn't find Bok Choi but a guy working at the produce area overheard our conversation and showed us where it's kept.They were sold out so he says let me check in the back. He came out with 4 packages for us to choose. We picked one but he didn't like the quality so he packaged 2 for the price of one. I wish I knew his name but he worked in the produce isle. Nice to see such helpful employees. Nice looking fresh seafood with everything labeled where it came from. Good selection at the butcher shop including aged steaks. They also have a large bakery and we picked up freshly made soft pretzels. The only thing I wouldn't give 5 stars is the hot buffet section. It was lunch time and most of the dishes had that glazed over heated look to it so I skipped that and instead went to Kabayan grill on Front Street. Spend over $100 (not to hard to do) and you get a free coffee or ice cream. Speedy check out with all registers open and a section for less than 10 items so it's easy to get in and out if you have a small purchase. Almost forgot, they have a nice selection of beers local and international and sell tap beer by the growler. The Ikea type layout is not as bad as some people say. It's a small store and there are short cuts so you do not have to walk the entire store if you do not want to. read more
