I am not usually someone who writes negative reviews but while this supermarket chain is fabulous and this location is a delight to shop in, I unfortunately have had the experience of being sold expired food from this location on three separate occasions over the past year or two. And I have been going here for well over 10 years, and not once has something like this happened until very recently. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy shopping at North Shore Farms and appreciate how the store has a variety of products I can't find anywhere else. The store is also always well-stocked and clean, and it's easy to find things. The bakery and hot food sections are also stellar; though the variety of hot food has decreased somewhat over the years they do still updated with new offerings so there is something for everyone. However, I am baffled and disappointed by the fact that this location has put out and sold customers, such as myself, expired items in the refrigerated section in the middle of the store. Just yesterday, June 13th, I bought a ricotta cheese which was in this section and had a "sell before" date of July 8th; upon taking it home it tasted spoiled and we immediately had to discard it. I'm not sure when the item was packed, but I have a gut feeling that the sell by date listed on the box was inaccurate. The other two times I experienced this were also with cheese, as well as with cold cuts. I highly recommend that this location look into ways in which they can prevent spoilage of items from the refrigerated section and ensure that their customers are getting food that is fresh and well-maintained. UPDATE (6/15/2026): Make that *four* times. I bought fresh fish from the seafood counter and was about to cook it last night however, when I unwrapped it from the parchment paper that it had been stored in, I was hit with a significantly rancid smell and I think I was sold fish that was not fresh either. I'm not sure what's wrong, maybe the temperature of the refrigerators in the store aren't high enough, but I really hope that it can be corrected soon because otherwise this location is risking losing a customer in me. Which is a shame because this has been a mainstay store that I have been going to for years and I don't want to risk my health being in danger due to buying spoiled food that is being marketed as "fresh." read more

North Shore Farms is an amazing supermarket. They are not the biggest but they certainly pack a big punch. I truly do not know where to start. They have so many food services available to the public. I want to start with their AMAZING bakery. The best bread in NYS! They make all kinds of "designer breads and rolls" including their bacon and egg baked into a flat bread. Pizzas, meat breads and any other items. If you can think about it, it's probably there. They have custom meat cutting as well as a very well stocked meat isle. Their seafood department is top notch. They have everything and you can always count on the fact that it's fresh. They also have a vast amount of prepared dishes that just need to be cooked or heated up. The deli area is also amazing.... They have their own NSF meats as well as Boar's Head and other specialty brands. The 'fresh soup' area sits right by the deli counter. Plenty of fresh vegetables and cheeses. The dairy selection is also quite extensive. They have a fantastic sushi section. It would not be fair to write about NSF and not mention their amazing team here. Everyone here is friendly and helpful. There are just not enough good things to say about NSF. All their stores follow the same model so you always know what to expect... EXCELLENCE! Fan of North Shore Farms as they lead the other local specialty shops by a mile in two things no one comes close to. 1) Bread - they all have it - some bake it - but the variety and volume here is mon stop - here they make not bring in but make rolls! Small, medium, large, seeded, unseeded, semolina, whole wheat - bread - Toscana looks best - but Ciabatta stays good until the next dag. Regular and semolina Italian - round loaves - baking right there rows of dough being proofed. 2) Customer service. I have never been treated better by any store of something not right - they make it right in 10 seconds with a smile. Label? Good enough. No angry girls - girls that are cool, open more lines up - help bag - your way - just a culture of warm and where you want to shop. Desert? Ah lol a few perfectly good basic cheesecakes - fresh and with fruit or plain. Cookies - some- things in from other places - yes fluff pound cake- baklava- a few things plus more of their own. Seafood - fresh enough for me to buy their seafood salad for lunch on the way home - have bought shrimp, cod etc all good - and active!! Tomato sauce heaven - various tomatoes, and jar sauces - bigger selection if in the mood for a different kind etc. Michaels of Brooklyn - a few kinds, Leonards! Yum - two kinds - basil or marinara. Even the fun Scalfani jar.. for quick marinara at home just like in Little Italy if you don't want to cook your own. fresh pasta, mozzarella, salads, fruit bowls, daily soups and a deli. Deli is good but not close to hot foods needing reheating of Ivareone - but I'm less of a reheating deli person. A few things thats it. This is the store where I am shopping for many years. I love the variety of meat ,the fruits and vegetables are fresh, organic or not, they are tasty and fresh. However, starting last year, after 6 pm the bakery stands are completely empty, the bread is bagged and ready to be discarded somewhere. It is very frustrating ,the bread is still good ,why not sell it at a reduced price ,I like to make croutons for soup or salad,I love the Italian bread there. The store closes at 10,why such a hurry to get ready to leave? Why waste produces? I will stop going to NSF only because of the bakery issue. Or ,maybe this post will bring some changes. read more

I love this place! Large variety, good prices, homemade breads, butcher shop, fresh fish and seafood, department. At Christmas time they make their own "Panettone" the most delicious panettone I ever had, plenty of raisins, fresh, baked to perfection, a dream come true! Overall the place has a European feel, a vast variety of items in small quantities on the shelfs. I love NSF!!! I think they have a large selection of great quality fresh produce. I like they are open until 10pm, I often go between 8:30 and 9:30 and the store is peacefully empty as it is a full on zoo during peak hours. My favorite thing about North Shore hands down is the cheese department - tons of variety and lots of samples. They make an awesome horseradish cheddar spread and a buffalo chicken dip. They have a great sausage and pepper roll and stromboli in the bakery department and the huge variety of soups are also very good. Their prepared salads are solid and easy to grab when you're in a hurry. Large selection of eggs, lots of free range and organic egg choices. The deli gets very busy but has some good items within their large selection of prepared foods. The staff at NSF is very friendly and professional. Tough not to compare to Iavarone Brothers since they are so close by and very similar. I like North Shore because I can pick up most of my groceries for the week vs. Iavarone which doesn't have household items as much. The prepared foods at Iavarone and the meat/seafood departments are much better than NSF and I love using Iavarone for catering. We are lucky in North Bellmore to have two really great places to shop and I'm a big fan of both. read more

I come here a few times a month. I love that they have products that bigger chains don't carry. The vegetables and fruits are always vibrant and tasty. I enjoy their premade salads and sandwiches. I'm glad I have this store to occasionally shop at. The store aisles are tight but nothing too annoying. Minus one star for price but everything has gone up in price everywhere. I need to explore this store more but popped in to check out the bakery and it did not disappoint. Prosciutto bread, onion rolls, and apple turnovers were all excellent. The bread loaves all looked awesome. Cheese selection looks great as does the produce. Was hoping to grab some fresh pierogi but a worker showed me where they would have been but they didn't have them that day. Bakery line was busy but checkout lines were fast. Sorry, I know everyone raves about this place locally but I don't see the appeal. This store was filthy when I went. The fresh fruits and vegetables were rotten and moldy. And when I walked past the seafood counter, I was blown away by the smell of fish. I thought that means fish is not fresh when it stinks? Last week I went to North Shore Farms in North Bellmore to buy some fruit etc..., when I went to check out there were lots of new employees being trained. After ringing up my order the new cashier had problems with my CC so the front end manager sent me to the next cashier who rang me up, no big deal. When I got my credit card statements I was charged twice for my order. (14.32). I brought the receipt back and explained this to the front end manager and was greeted by a nasty little lady named Maribelle Mejia. Even though she was aware of the new employees and the confusion at the front end she refused to believe my story. What she suggested I do was print out my bank statements, bring them back and she would look into it. I tried explaining it again to Maribelle but like I said was very nasty and refused to consider the fact that they may have made a mistake. I asked to speak to her manager and at first she did not want to get him saying there is nothing no one can do for me. She did get the manager, Franklin who also refused to believe me that the new employees being trained made a mistake. I told them I can show them my credit card statement showing the double bill but he also insisted I bring my bank statements. The reasoning was I could fudge the credit card statements. Both Franklin and Mirabelle Mejis were rude and condescending and when I suggested I was going to post something on Yelp, they both gave a little chuckle and very sarcastically thanked me in advance for posting on Yelp. What bothered me more then the $14.32 was the attitude of these two as well as being talked down to. I left the store feeling very bad about the whole experience. These two need better customer service training a better understanding of how to treat there customers read more

To start, North Shore Farms has one of the widest selections of hot pre-made soups. There are about a dozen options available every single day. I've tried a handful of soups and enjoyed all of them. The cheese selection is pretty fair. They always have samplings and even stock a few options I don't see often elsewhere (including Russian brinza). Next to the cheeses is a nice selection of dips. What a great grocery store to come to Bellmore! The produce are all so fresh & the display is beautiful. I really liked all of the pre-made food options for you to just grab & go & hear at home. I noticed potato skins, pizzas, pastas, quiches, as well as a huge variety of salads, sandwiches, paninis, heroes, etc. They also have a large selection of hot soup to take out in small or large containers. I chose lemon chicken orzo soup & enjoyed it immensely. All I experienced was people who worked there blocking the isles. and giving you a look like I was the one interfering with there work. Also... I bought pasta with garlic . I asked the young man behind the counter if he could give me a pound of flounder or lemon sole. No problem he said. He spoke to his co-worker in Spanish and he came out with once again (supposedly), one of the two I requested. As I was walking away I heard them say something and laugh! I decided to check the fish they rapidly weighed and wrapped. Turns out it was some kind of cod or other cheap fish they were charging me $16.99 a pound for! I went to the manager, to show him and all he did was offer me my money back and say he would have a talk with them! I want to love this place but since opening weekend it seems severely understaffed. The deli counter does not have enough workers and the workers that are there are very slow. They seem fed up with the lack of help behind the counter. Basic produce is not in stock for days at a time. The soup station is rarely tended to and I find it half full on most occasions. Once they figure out their staffing issues this store has great potential. Until then the building frustration I am experiencing will start to keep me away. ***since my last review this place continues to get worse. All of the delicious deli items they used to make they stopped making. I asked the guy behind the counter why and he said there's no real menu the cooks just prepare whatever they want, and it seems all they want to prepare now are the easiest items which I don't really care for. Great fish dept. Much more fresh than Best Market. The produce dept also sells certain things I don't see in other supermarkets such as yucca. They have precooked food for purchase also and a small bakery area. I like their chickpea salads. They are pricey though. We don't do all of our shopping here but my husband goes a few nights per week to pick up fish and it doesn't disappoint. The cashiers are usually not friendly. Oh and they sell halo top!! Since its grand opening in November, I have avoided this place because I didn't want to deal with the crazy crowds. I was passing through the area last week and finally decided to give it a try. I must say I was impressed! The first thing I did was go through the produce, and I was very pleased with the variety as well as the quality, not to mention the prices were VERY reasonable! It reminded me of Fairway in that they carry both organic and healthier items along with brands you see at your average grocery store, however it's much smaller and easier to navigate. My only complaint would be that a good number of items don't have prices listed. Other than that, it was clean, fairly priced, and a very pleasant place to shop. It's a nice specialty grocer in an area that desperately needed one. The prices are fine, some things are cheaper than expected some things are pricier, overall not bad. Deli and bakery are great. Wonderful selection of cheese, and good butcher and meat section. Seafood is just ok, but far from bad. Don't expect Whole Foods, Fairway or Trader Joe's. I'd put it a notch below Uncle Giuseppe's, but it's leaps and bounds above the local big name grocers. read more
