Levine's office is cramped and dingy. It is the norm to be there for 2-3 hours for a simple eye exam. His nurses insisted I owed them $5 and when I asked then to call collections to confirm they refused. I called collections myself from the waiting room and they confirmed that my balance was zero. No apologies for their mistake or lack or assistance. I have a condition that isn't serious but can be very uncomfortable. For over two years I have been told the only way to treat it is with warm compresses and eye wipes. Last week I discovered there is the technology to help me and I immediately went and had it done to much relief. The doctor simply omitted that fact because they do not offer it. Dr. Levine's office is fantastic. The staff is extremely helpful, and both Dr. Cohen and Dr. Levine are very knowledgeable and kind. I was most impressed by the Optomap, which, in my case, allowed the doctors to exam my eyes without dilating my pupils. Money hungry with no respect for his patients. Three hours for an eye exam. $10 to complete a DMV vision form (although was seen by his office two months previous for a full eye exam). Trying to push a $50 exam that isn't covered by insurance and serves no purpose (has no effect on treatment or eye glass prescription) other than to line his already stuffed pockets. Dr Levine is the best of everything, care, knowledge, professionalism and mostly kindly nice every time we see him, that is why we chosen him. I would like to suggesting that everyone is in busy schedules and it's normal waiting time at his office is at least 2 hours from time of our scheduled appointment, and receptionist is not helping at all, she warned us you have to wait minimum two hours before it's our turn, then why make an appointment?,someone wrote if you make an appointment with you make sure your whole day is free, I wish I have that kind of comfort but most of us don't have that kind of time. Currently we live Huntington and get there takes one hour if no traffics, made appoint for 10;15 am and found out from 9 am she put in 4 patients before our turn, so she makes appointments every 15 minutes, to see him 5 to 10 minutes its awful waiting and I have to be back to Huntington to my work, I could send my wife by herself but she is partial blind and one eye is not functioning. Couldn't be possible to make an appointment flexibly every 30 minutes? We used live in Bayside and it's tough to find doctor as good as him in our area. I would give him rating 10 out of 10, but setting up appointment is -10 out of 10. there must be answer for this issues I'm sure, and could you give advise to your receptionist be generous and be kind when makes appointment? She is dealing with patients not piece of meats. Not only rude but if she's there to favor Dr Levine as she works there as volunteering?, if she is really volunteering she would be nicer I guess, she gets paid and treated patients this manner it's not right, I'm sure it's lots of pressures she gets but it's her duty to be prompt and efficient would make her day wonderful as well as no conflict with patients. I have been coming here for about 10 years now. My first encounter was four years after 9/11. I did some work with the Red Cross and apparently the soot and ash formed some kind of crustacean on under my eyelids. I thought I might have had glaucoma because of pressure I was feeling. As it turns out, he had to shave it out ( almost passed out in his office) and I have been coming here ever since. Sometimes it can be a wait, but it's always worth it. Dr. Levine gives you the personal care and treatment you need and once you are in there you never feel rushed. You can be sure you are getting the best professional care. He knows what he is doing and I trust him. The staff is very helpful and nice. I highly recommend him for all of your needs. read more

I went here to get treatment for a stye and was seen by Dr. Cohen. The stye was a bit stubborn and had to come three times. I thought Dr. Cohen gave me quality treatment, but this is a practice where you wait, and wait, and wait to get seen. It's awful. 1st appointment: One hour wait time. 2nd appointment: TWO HOUR wait time. Yes, 2 hours!! 3rd appointment: Fifty minute wait time. Each appointment with the doctor was only 10 minutes, so the statistics are: Number of visits: 3 Total doctor time: 30 minutes Total wait time: 240 minutes This is disrespectful and rude. I will never come here again. Furthermore, on my second visit I witnessed one of the (non-medical) staff members trying to push a retina scan on an elderly lady who looked well into her 80's. She kept saying that she couldn't afford it, and the staff member was pushing her to pay the $50 for the test. He finally said that she needed to get the test the next time she came if she didn't get it that day. She was visibly upset and becoming confused, so I stood up and walked over and explained to him that she already said "no", and a woman in her 80's didn't need a retina scan. If she could still see well at 85+, she's doing remarkably good for her age. He glared at me, and I could tell he was about to make a snarky remark, but the rest of the waiting room came to the lady's defense once they saw me give the staff member a piece of my mind. It's unconscionable. The fact of the matter is, if she had her eye exams done at a Vision Center, that retina exam would be free (along with many other exam types with expensive machines that a small office like this can't afford), as part of her regular checkup. I thought this was a slimy maneuver on the staff member. You can do MUCH better for eye care with a doctor and staff that understands and respects the fact that you have a job, or kids, and can't afford to wait an hour or more for your appointment. I'll never come back, but I'll tell you what I did like about this practice: 1. The office staff, other than the slimy guy who was pushing the $50 test on the elderly lady, was actually quite nice. They were friendly and efficient. 2. Dr. Cohen herself was quite good. I think she gave me quality care. 3. The office is a beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood. However, I can't afford to spend 1+ hours of waiting, and I don't need to. There are other options for eyecare in NYC. read more

I choose to go back to him because he always listens to what I have to say, treats me with courtesy and, most importantly, competently treats my problem. I was the third patient to see the doctor and waited almost three hours just to see the doctor for 5 minutes. I had to get up to complain to the receptionist about what was going on. Honestly, I do not know why they rush patients to go wait in the second waiting room, just to wait and lose even more patience in front of the doctor's room door. I don't plan on coming back here and if you do plan on coming here, just make sure your day is completely free. By the way, this place is full of elderly patients and they "chit chat" among them about how the wait is a "normal" thing here. Today, a follow-up visit with Dr. Levine went without any problem. Dr. Levine explained what happened during our last visit offered different options to avoid long wait time. He seemed genuinely concerned about our concern and explained that this was an outlier and not the norm. The wait time was not excessive and the service was professional. My husband and I are both physicians and only see the best physicians. We have used Dr. Levine for years. He recently did cataract surgery on my husband who now has perfect vision. I have seen Dr. Levine for glasses/contact lenses and eye exams for many years. He is thorough, highly skilled and kind. We feel very well cared for. Don't bother with the visit, you'll basically get information you could've just gotten off Google and be prepared to waste your entire day here! I was seen after three hours only to be then greeted by Dr. Cohen's rude attitude and condescending tone. Was told I should have had an emergency for going to my eye visit and was made to feel like my time didn't matter. She was dismissive and couldn't decide on what she thought was wrong with me. At the end of the visit, she left me with no helpful options and no further information on how to care my eyes except to buy over the counter eye drops, as if that is going to somehow magically relieve my vision/eye pain problems. I have been a patient of Dr. Levine's for years and this fall he did cataract surgery on me which was life altering in the most positive way. For anyone needing that surgery, don't hesitate because it seems so ominous. It is totally amazing in what it will do your life style...to suddenly see while you are still on the operating table is mind blowing...the procedure was completely painless as the anesthesiologist working with Dr. Levine makes sure of that. Not a tweak is felt during nor after. So many people are afraid of this procedure, and, while that's an internal fear, the external facts make this one of the easiest things you can do to get big time results and improve your quality of life exponentially. He is a bright, meticulous, kind, patient, talented and dedicated physician who takes wonderful care of me and 8 members of my family. We travel from Westchester, Manhattan, and Vermont to be treated by Dr. Levine because of his superb care. He is well worth our trips to Bayside, Queens. Dr. Levine just performed laser Cataract Surgery on both of my eyes. The results were amazing and life changing! The entire procedure was PAINLESS and comfortable. Dr. Levine and the surgery staff made me feel relaxed and confident before, during, and after the surgery. I now have better vision than I ever had, and the brightness and vivid colors of the world brighten each moment of my life. My pediatrician referred us to this office about a year ago....what a horrible mistake!!! My child was misdiagnosed and is now under the care of an "actual" specialist. Several times I had tried to speak to the dr there and was told that the doctors don't speak to patients....when we put in a request to transfer her medical records to our new dr not only are we to be charged but we were blatantly told that if we the patient had been more compliant with THEIR schedule my daughter would have not been misdiagnosed!!! Horrible please don't ever go here... and it should be mentioned that every appointment we did go to was never on time and at least an 1-1/2 hour wait...... read more

Dr. Levine has been my ophthalmologist for 25 years and I have never once felt like I was getting anything but the best, most thorough and conscientious treatment. He has a very calm demeanor which always puts me at ease. It is because of his exam that I learned I had a freckle on my eye, and they take pictures of it every year to be sure it is not growing. I filled my eyeglass prescription in his office, which is very convenient. The office is so clean and nicely designed, and there are good magazines to keep you occupied. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Levine is so well educated and that he never gives a cursory exam, so I know if ever there were something wrong, he would catch it. I have been a patient of Dr. Stewart Levine for over ten years and i just found out this was a way to let others know how grateful I am for saving me from paralyzing headaches and correcting my vision have a chronic disease which can have implications for the eyes. i know that Dr. Levine is on top of everything and i feel very comfortable in his care.He takes plenty of time and i feel like I'm the only patient in the office because he doesn't rush me through. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. The wait time even if you have an appointment (as required) is always more than 1 hour. Doctor Levine showed me his true sense of proffesionalism when I arrived late due to my car being towed. I called and was told to come in and that it was ok because he had other patients to see. The doctor took not 1 but 3 women ahead of me for Botox procedures. I had an inflamed painfull stye and was treated like a third class citizen. I have been to his office 6 times since 2008 to have this stye treated. Each time I paid a $40 co payment. This tratment was clearly dragged on for monitary reasons. I will never ever use this office for any vision issues again. Dr Levine has dissapoiinted me for the last time. I left after waiting 2hours and 15 minutes. I got mt co 7th co payment refunded and will be writting a formal letter of complaint to both his office and my insurance company. This is one of the worst experiences of my life. read more

I hadn't been in for a visit since 2013. I called and scheduled an appointment and specifically asked to see Dr. Levine. I was told by the medical staff that seeing Dr. Cohen would just be the same as the only difference between the two doctors was that one performed surgeries and the other didn't. Well as it turned out Dr. Cohen could not complete the visit and advised that I had to see Dr. Levine due to my condition. On that day and after nearly waiting 2.5 hours I was charged $250 and a follow up appointment was made for 3 days later. Today, on my follow up appointment, I was advised by the medical staff of an additional $175 to see Dr. Levine! I explained that had they reviewed my records, consulted with the doctors, I would have seen the correct doctor in one visit and not have to dish out an additional $175. They treated this situation as if I was at fault and it made perfect sense to charge me again. Most of the staff is pleasant but the one I dealt with rolled her eyes and seemed bothered to have to deal with me or the situation. I also asked for copies of my records and my last visit which they also made difficult. They all chimed in and arrogantly made it very clear that it would cost me .75 x page if I wanted them. If anyone has a need for this type of doctor I urge you to seek someone else. read more
