I awoke one morning last September with a sizable style in my lower right eyelid. It was tough to see and oh, so attractive. Our Ophthalmologist in Manhattan retired in 2021 and I hadn't yet found his replacement. I asked the friendly staff at MK Vision Center, where I buy all of my eyeglasses for a recommendation: Dr. Singh at Downtown! My first visit at Downtown went well and Dr. Singh diagnosed me with Angle Closure Glaucoma. He told me about Glaucoma, how I could have an attack, and why it could cost me my eyesight (damage is irreversible). He recommended the laser procedure, I thought about it and decided to go for it. I just had Laser Iridotomy on my right eye this morning and I am surprised and pleased at how wonderful I am seeing and feeling right now. I intend to have my left eye operated on next week and look forward to continuing to develop a relationship with Dr. Singh and his staff. GO!

Dr. Kim Staiman Rothstein and the rest of the staff deserve just as much credit. Everyone at the practice is warm, professional, and genuinely attentive, from scheduling to checkout. It's the kind of office where you feel like more than just a patient on a schedule. A few years ago I moved from Queens to Westchester, and I never once considered switching eye doctors. The drive is worth it for the quality of care and the relationship I've built with this practice over the years. It's definitely left me a bitter taste in the mouth that I am going to share my experience. The unprofessionalism in the front desk and lack of experience with patients is beyond me. My last visit was in 2022. Now in May, when I scheduled to make an eye appointment (annual) I was charged $80 for an eye exam which my insurance DID cover because when I spoke to the insurance after and checked there wasn't an issue. (That's another story) For this day my appointment was at 930AM and I did not leave till 1245PM. At the end I was told to schedule a FOLLOW UP (keep this in mind.) I was told the next available date would be in July!??! Due to personal issues I needed to reschedule the appointment to a further date which was two weeks after my original date. My daughter called to assist and reschedule the appointment on a future date. The receptionist then started to ask for her information before changing the appointment such as DOB and if she's an existing patient. I don't understand why if the appointment was for me and I was aware. Frustrated, my daughter asks to speak to another receptionist because she feels uncomfortable that's she's asking unnecessary information. The receptionist on the phone then declines and says she can change the appointment to a further date. The appointment was scheduled for a Monday originally but it was now changed to a further Monday in the month. According to them, I was scheduled to see a specific doctor ( I guess for my follow up) and when I get there to check in they tell me that I cannot be attended because I do not have a referral for this appointment and if I had an insurance change I should've have let them know?!?!? This is where I went in disbelief. I want it to be clear from these back to back appointments my insurance remained the same--so this demonstrates how someone in that office is being very careless with their work duties. Not only that but I commuted from far Queens to be told this information while with my grandchild who is under 3. Again, when I tell you I was flabbergasted when they told me this information. My thing is if they knew I had to be scheduled with a specific Dr. on their end then they should've said that on the call and find a date that works for when I can do the follow up with THAT Dr. AND ask me if I did have an insurance change or if it was the same which they didn't. Insurance questions should always be asked on the call--omg. I wasted an entire morning on such a far commute to get NOTHING do-- just stress. To end, be prepared to wait over an hour for ANY appointment. The translators there also don't know what they're doing because they just retain information! They take NO accountability. If you make an appointment here BEWARE of your time being wasted and to be charged FAST. It's sad to say nowadays collecting money and getting nothing done is more important than actually taking care of the patients concern while fulfilling a great work ethic and having INTEGRITY.

She does not give you time to speak and listen. As I was talking, she cut me off and I am not able to express myself. She lacks compassion and bedside manner. It's all down to business and no empathy. It makes a big difference when there is customer service and a smile on your doctor's face. I do understand that Dr Chen is doing her job and she is very serious in her work, but I did not feel comfortable with her. It felt like she cared more about her commitment to her craft than her patient. It would be better if she made you feel like she cared for you as a patient and as a person. If I could give no star, I would. I just don't feel that the perfect 5 star in her review is accurate. I came to her office and the perfect 5 star review did not reflect my experience with Dr Chen.

I signed in at the Tangram security desk for my 4:30 pm appointment. I arrived an hour early to complete the paperwork then I paid for the office visit deposit. The ophthalmic medical assistants brought me into different exam rooms while lubricating my eyes. Dr. Ky informed me about migraine headaches due to my dry eyes. Immediately, the Clear Eyes commercial popped into my head. He measured my eyes and wrote me a new prescription. My dilated pupils were going to wear off in 3-4 hours. OMG, I was freaking out.

I went the week of 6/1, when the office is still closed for non-emergency visits. My condition didn't really call for urgent checkup, but I was lucky to have my appointment set right away. Once I was at the office, there was around an hour wait. However, the doctor was considerate and explained that he has been busy tending to other patients who needed immediate care. Dr. Pilavas was friendly and gently explained to me what's going on with my eye. It turns out the condition is nothing to worry about and I am glad that I visited Dr. Pilavas. With my Cigna open access insurance I had to pay $45 for the copay. It was quite a pleasant experience so I'd recommend Dr. Pilavas for anyone looking for eye care.
