Dave came out and took at least 20 minutes to run a diagnostics on the engine and gave us the peace of mind that it was not a serious issue -- probably a bad tank of gas -- and we could drive it. Dave did not want to charge us for his time and told us to pay it forward. He promised that if the engine light came on again he would work on the car the next day. But getting my Volkswagon fixed at Sam's was literally the best car repair experience of my life. I just had to write a review because it's SO RARE to find a quality, honest mechanic like Sam! We were due for our 100,000 mile maintenance and needed some preventative service done. We were visiting Uniontown had to leave in a few days -- but Sam was generous in fitting us in during a busy week. He did a lot of research to find the parts we needed, fast (and cheaply) and gave us a solid quote (which was much cheaper than anything we would have found where we live). When we came to pick the car up, Sam was thorough and walked us through everything he did to the car. He showed us the parts he replaced and told us about some additional issues the car had that he simply took care of for us. He had checked our previous maintenance records and left us with some great tips and pointers for how to best take care of our particular type of engine. He told us how one prior mechanic messed something (small) up on the car and told us the cheapest way to fix it once we were back home. The total matched his quote exactly and we were so impressed with the whole experience. He was careful, efficient, polite, professional, totally honest -- and very, VERY reasonably priced! I was told by the dealership that I needed a new engine. they quoted me a price of 8.5 K for the repair. I called two other area Ford dealerships and was given quotes of 9.3 K and 10.2 K. I started checking around for an auto repair shop to see if I could get a more reasonable price than the ones I had received from the dealerships. I called Vince's auto repair. and made an appointment to bring my car in to get it checked out. Vince called me the day after I dropped my car off and told me he didn't believe the noise was coming from my engine. He asked for my permission to do some diagnostics on my car to determine the possible cause. Vince found the source of the problem and repaired it for less than 2.5 K. (It wasn't the engine). I have to call them since they missed their "promised return call" "You need a new engine" I take it back because it ain't worth the work. Drive it for a day and the serpentine belt went with the tension pulley. $80 later and a fix on the side of the highway in 45 minutes. Truck is fixed. Runs great. No noise. Don't trust this shister. This shop does good work, communicates well, is very reasonable, and they are kind. We were on…read morevacation and our car overheated. We had it towed to them based on a recommendation from AAA. They ran diagnostics, replaced the faulty thermostat, took it out on a road test and when it overheated again ran more tests to determine we had a blown head gasket. Becky called us and genuinely felt bad giving us this news. When we decided to have it shipped back to the dealer for the rest of the work, instead of having an attitude they helped us make it happen. When Becky gave me the bill I asked her if she was sure that was all. Trust me, I have never done that at an auto repair shop before.
