I needs to have a root canal, and couldn't get any to give me an appointment until July....crazy! So o reached out to Dr. Shepherd's office and they could get me in within the week. The staff was very friendly over the phone and in person. Dr. Shepherd was very pleasant as well, answered all my questions, and made sure that I wasn't in any pain. Dr. Waters and his assistant were both very kind, personable and professional. They thoroughly explained all that was involved in the root canal treatment I was receiving and made sure that I felt comfortable and understood how everything would work. I experienced no pain during the procedure and they checked in with me several times to ensure I was feeling well. I was expecting a little soreness or some pain after the numbness wore off, but am happy to say, I felt no pain at all afterward! I highly recommend Dr. Waters and his team! :)

Unfortunately the root was cracked so a re-treat of a root was not possible and it will eventually need to be extracted. Not super excited because before the crown was replaced it never hurt but during the install of the first crown there were issues so it was most likely just destined to eventually fail. I appreciated their kindness and reassuring me the advice my dentist gave to possibly extract would be the best solution.

He takes his time, I felt absolutely NOTHING during the procedure-NOTHING!!!!!. I honestly didn't think the root canal would fix the issue but he really knew what he was doing! I didn't feel that he was even trying to sell me anything but do what was right for me in my situation. His "bed side manners" are very attentive/relaxing and that means a lot when this type of surgery takes place. I have very good overall oral hygiene so this was something that I was very nervous about and couldn't even believe I was going through but he was patient aanswering all of my silly questions and I felt like family ! I just fired my old dentist office because they can't measure bp accurately. I went in to get a…read morefilling replaced. They measured my bp before giving me anesthetic. That's standard practice. But, their measurement was like 160/110, which is high, but also inaccurate. So, I left. My internist measured it a couple months ago at 114/82. I measured it when I got home, and it was 128/73. I'm compliant with my bp meds and took them this morning. My advice to Hedrick Family Dentistry and Dr. Chen specifically is to learn how to properly measure bp on big and tall patients.
