WOW! HUGE, FRESH SANDWICHES AT A GREAT PRICE!…read more We stopped by this Byrne Dairy after a concert at St. Joseph's Lakeview Amphitheater (Counting Crows!). This Byrne Dairy is just down the hill from the concert venue at a fairgrounds entrance. It was busy with the post-concert crowd, and short-staffed, but nonetheless the late-night workers kept the line moving well. We don't have Byrne Dairy at home, and stopped in with getting some grab-and-go gas station typical eats in mind. But we were pleasantly surprised to see deli ordering options. We ordered a couple of large sandwiches. They ended up not being large sandwiches--but rather HUGE SANDWICHES! The large is essentially two standard size sandwiches PACKED with tons of fresh fillings! And they were not only abundant in size, but also abundantly fresh and delicious! My husband had a roast beef and pastrami sandwich. The meat was sliced thin and PILED HIGH! I had egg salad, which was also generously scooped. Our sandwich artist was FANTASTIC--she took the time to construct the sandwich with our custom topping picks in an entirely purposeful way that helped keep the behemoth-bulk of this mega-meal intact. We brought our sandwiches back to our room, and were thoroughly STUFFED! I could only finish half, saved the other half for breakfast. My husband wolfed his whole monster, exclaiming it was one of the best sandwiches he's ever had. Sometimes the great sandwiches of our lives come from unexpected places--like this Byrne Dairy! If you have a hankering for a superb sandwich at a STELLAR DEAL (just $9.49 per MASSIVE large sandwich!), look no further! :-O :-D

Perhaps this is the western-most Stewart's? For those unfamiliar, they're a convenience store chain…read more(not related to Stewart's burgers & root beer) with roots around Saratoga, NY and a reach going from as far south as the fringes of the NYC metro area in Orange County, north to the Canadian/Quebec borderlands, to Bennington and Rutland counties in Vermont. While they aren't the dominant c-store player here in Central New York (anecdotally that seems to be Byrne Dairy and...I won't hazard a guess on others), a full-size Stewart's will offer "fresh" hot food, cold sandwiches, pizza, and they have an ice cream/milkshake counter where they'll make what you want to order. Unfortunately, Stewart's express lacks the latter. The only ice cream here is sold to-go in pints or half gallons. To their credit, their half gallon is still a true half gallon, and it's in the old school cardboard square containers with the paper on top that you peel off. How nostalgia evoking... For a scaled down Stewart's, they had 2 or 3 booth-like tables at which to sit. Plenty of beer, cider & trendy hard seltzer is available in their fridge and their "beer cave." That's just their term for a walk in fridge, but it's a nice way to cool down on a 95 degree day like today. They have pizza, although I haven't tried it. The deal seems to be 2 slices and a drink for $5. Not bad. You can literally pick your poison because they also have... gas station hot dogs! I haven't eaten ones from this Stewart's, but I have at others over in the capital region and live to tell the tale. There are several gas pumps selling petrol, and the price seems average for the area. Why 4 stars and not 5? Obviously the lack of fresh ice cream/shakes is a big negative. Additionally, they don't offer the option of cash back when you check out. I was pointed to an ATM where the fee is $2.75! Complete rip off and a cheap money grab if you ask me. I expect that at a bodega somewhere, not Stewart's out here. Check out Stewart's if you've never been to one. It won't change your life, but you can buy what you need (and what you don't need!) and proceed in and out quickly. Just watch the one-way exit and people that run the light at the intersection as you exit. I blared my horn like I was downstate or back in Jersey, but spared them the unofficial state bird...

After heading out of Rochester and on my way to Syracuse I needed to get fuel. My GPS had taken me…read morethe scenic route, and with being on vacation, I wasn't mad about that. But, with it being the scenic route I had no idea where I was or when I would see another gas station on the horizon. When I saw this on the horizon I was happy. When I pulled in, the pump I was going to pull up to was out of commission so my other option was to take the pump on the end or swing around. I chose the pump on the end, which at the time of me pulling up here was a tight squeeze. Another customer had a trailer and was blocking access for any through traffic. But at the time of me pulling in that didn't pose any problems. Until, that is, with all the other pumps open, another vehicle pulled up behind me. I had just got out of my vehicle, opened my fuel door and started the motions on the pump to pay at the pump. I looked back and saw her sitting in her vehicle given the 'hurry up' stare. Honey, I hadn't even started to pump and you think I'm finished? Luckily she got the hint when I finally pulled the pump and put it in my tank. After fueling up, I made my way inside to refresh myself and grab a few items. Something to note here, this is a shared space, Dunkin' resides in the same building and they have shared facilities. I used the facilities, clean, and made my way out to grab a few things for the rest of my travel. Fuel prices were on par for this area of New York.

They also have breakfast sandwiches and plenty of coffee and in fact I think if you have one of their mugs you can get a free cup of coffee from time to time. Off the record I've actually gotten a free cup a few times myself just because I think at 3:00 in the morning if that's all I'm getting the person probably feel sorry for me because I'm out of 3:00 in the morning and I need coffee so they say just go ahead and take it The store itself is pretty clean especially in comparison to other convenience stores I've been in. And of course the one thing that if they're not noted for should be, is their milk. The white milk is good but the chocolate milk is oh my gosh incredible. I actually live about an hour down the road from this location and there have been times that on my way home from the Syracuse area I will stop at Byrne dairy to grab a half gallon of chocolate milk even though I can buy chocolate milk in any other store closer to me. It just tastes better.

They have some amazing fresh milks in here too.
