Dr. Knapp is a god-send! I have been miserable the last 5-6 years. Probably worst of all were the constant sinus infections, 5-8 infections each year. I was always on antibiotics--the last infection took me through four different antibiotics and none would help. I was referred to Dr. Knapp's office a couple months ago, and he went through my CT scans, did an exam, and determined the root cause of my problems: small cavities, infected tissue that no medication would help, deviated septum, and just very small airways. He gave me lots of options, and also mentioned surgery. I have heard how awful sinus surgery is, but he told me that while he can't guarantee it to cure 100% of my ailments, that it would make my life significantly better. So, I went in a month ago and had turbinate reduction (he took an inch off from one cavity!), removal of the infected tissue and opening of my passageways, as well as a septoplasty. A month after the surgery now, I feel like my entire life has changed. I haven't coughed once! I used to stay up all night coughing, every night. The recovery has had some pretty disgusting parts, but I can't tell you how amazing it is to be able to breath. I only had dissolvable packing, which I heard is the worst part of the recovery, and no bruising at all. He's a miracle worker, and his staff is fantastic: his nurse was always available to me, (he even called me twice on the phone, which I have never heard of a doctor doing before), and his billing staff worked diligently to get my stubborn insurance to cover the cost. Another reassuring point is that I see an amazing doctor for my asthma and allergy issues, and he and Dr. Knapp told me the same things about treatment, ailments, recovery, without ever even talking to each other. I was very impressed that these doctors were on the same page. :) He's amazing!

I recently experienced a sudden, one-sided hearing loss and contacted Swedish Otolaryngology…read moreSpecialists for help. In our initial conversation, they were patient and professional, taking as long as necessary to understand all of my symptoms. They told me that since my condition might need prompt treatment for the best outcome, I should come in as soon as I could, and then they scheduled me for an appointment the same afternoon. I arrived at the clinic a little early, and judging from the waiting room, it was a pretty busy day. But they were also apparently running on time, because I was taken back to a room almost exactly at the time of my appointment. The medical assistant took my vitals and other preliminary information, and it was only 2 or 3 minutes before Dr. Peterson came in to see me. Dr. Peterson was really outstanding. Great bedside manner: friendly and patient, but also efficient. She performed a thorough, comfortable exam, then clearly explained the most likely causes of my hearing loss. Without alarming me, she also explained the possibility that the hearing loss could be permanent, an unlikely outcome but one that research had shown could often be avoided with an immediate, short course of steroids. This is why they wanted me to come in quickly. I had several questions after that, which she answered in a way that was clear and pleasant, without ever rushing me despite the need to see a number of other patients. Several weeks later, after finishing the course of steroids, I came in for a follow-up audiogram (also a great appointment--on time, friendly and professional) and was happy to learn that my hearing had recovered completely. Overall, I couldn't have been more satisfied with interpersonal, professional and clinical skills of Swedish Otolaryngology, especially Dr. Peterson. Considering my experience, it's hard for me to understand the comments of the other reviewer who "suffered for 5 days" because Swedish didn't return her phone call. If they told her they would call her back, then sure, they should have called her. But anything could have happened--the receptionist might have taken down the wrong number or had some other emergency that caused her to forget--people are human. If I were so dizzy I couldn't take a shower, I sure wouldn't wait 5 days, or even a couple of hours, without calling back, trying another clinic if the first one was too busy, or going to the ER. Take some responsibility for your own care. Just my two cents.

So, why is it that I had to be called three different times after each appointment was made and scheduled that they call and cancel it? Because each time they had the wrong doctor who I was supposed to see for my stated probelm on the referral regarding my issue? Yes, that right! They don't say, "three's a charm for nothing!" So, after the third appointment time I was finally seen. But the managers in the First Hill ENT, Kiana, who I was in contact with had spoken to me as she was not pleased with how her department was running in regards to all my issues as a new patient. But, it gets better! As, I even spoke to Kiana (one of the clinic mgrs) in the clinic after I had my appt moved up without anyone calling me the same day as my scheduled appointment. She (Kiana) again said she was going to find out what happened. So I waited and waited and ended up calling her back regarding this next issue. I spoke to her and she said she would call me back. So why it is after a week she still has not gotten back to me and I am reaching out to her again? It is no wonder this ENT clinic as a very lower rating. I do NOT recommend going there at all! Why? They do not know how to schedule you with the right provider, they change your appointment time without calling to inform you, and the they lie to their patients. Do not go there unless you are ready to deal with conflict!

These procedures were being performed because my husband had terrible sleep apnea and could not tolerate the CPAP machine. He explained all the procedures in great detail, so we could understand the associated risks and potential outcomes with surgery. Dr. Yang is one of very few premiere surgeons who perform the CPPP glossectomy procedure. This it is a very complex and complicated procedure in which he customized perfectly for my husband's anatomy, so he could breathe better especially while he slept. This was very significant as my husband had more than 22 sleep apnea episodes per night where he quit breathing. Dr. Yang is a phenomenal and skilled surgeon as well as, a very compassionate physician. My husband was a very difficult and complex case to begin with, so the extra care and attention my husband received made Dr. Yang the BEST ENT as far as we are concerned. We are so very thankful to Dr. Christopher Yang for all he has done for us, because he did go the extra mile for us, he definitely made us feel as we were his number one priority (he even came in on his day off before he left on vacation). No accolades would be enough to express our gratitude, appreciation, admiration and respect we have for Dr. Christopher Yang. We highly recommend him without any hesitation.

The MRI appointment was supposed to happen at 3 pm so I booked an appointment with her for 1:30 pm thinking that would be enough time. She had me wait for an hour an a half and ended up seeing me at 3 pm!! Well, I can't explain how frustrated I was considering how hard it was to schedule an MRI appointment for people with a cochlear implant. And after she stepped into the room, all she's done was talking about signing a waver that releases the her liability, blah blah for 10 minutes, until I stopped her.
