These were beautiful, mature magnolias that are around 20 years old. I asked for trimming. Instead, they lifted the canopy about 5-6 feet off the ground and completely butchered the natural shape of the trees. Anyone with real knowledge of tree care should know that magnolias are not meant to be pruned this way. Decades of growth were ruined in literally 5 minutes. I was honestly heartbroken when I saw the result -- I literally cried. These trees were one of the most beautiful parts of my property, and now they look unnatural and stripped. This kind of damage cannot simply be undone. To be fair, the tree removal itself was handled adequately, but the trimming work on the magnolias showed a serious lack of knowledge, judgment, and care. While grinding a stump near our shared fence line, they proceeded to chip an obscene amount of wood chips into our yard and pool, putting our pool equipment as risk. I came out and politely made them aware of what they were doing. I asked, if they had a tarp they could put up or to handle blocking waste from going into a neighbor's yard however they would normally handle that situation. Based on the clueless look of the employee grinding the stump and lack of an intelligible answer, it would appear this company has no procedure to mitigate damage to bordering properties. The employee told me he would figure something out. Since I didn't trust them to actually do anything, I told them I would do something also (not be my responsibility). I clipped up a bed sheet to the fence to stop some of the chips. My instincts were correct and the employee ended up lying and did nothing to block or reduce the wood flying into the neighboring yard and pool. Nada. Upon completion, despite being alerted to the issue with the work they had done, they DID NOT offer to clean up their mess. So, if you are cool with you neighbors having to spend hours outside cleaning up the mess from their yard so you could get your stumps ground or don't mind haggling over a neighbor's pool repair bill, these are your guys.
