I would just like to share my opinion and experience with Unchained Tree Service and Philip,…read morespecifically. Your experience may be different, so take my story for what it's worth. I like to give the benefit of the doubt, and maybe he was having a very off-week. And I have offered to meet with them to try and work out our differences, but he won't interact, which is par for the course. But I can tell you that I felt brutalized and bullied by Philip the entire 3 days of 4, that he worked at our place. And the only reason it was not 4, was because they left a day early without completing the work. He absolutely would not hear me, the entire time he was there, nor have a two-way conversation. Rather, with every attempt at a conversation, he would bark, demand and make vailed legal threats, if I refused to continue to use him the rest of that week. I contemplated having him trespassed by the Sherriff but thought we'd end up in court, so instead I attempted to reason with him, and that never ever worked. So disappointing. I would be happy to share the entire story for anyone who asks. I will post before-and-after photos, so you can judge for yourself, if you think the work requested was completed or left untouched... What I write here, is just the tip of the iceberg. From the get-go, all we ever discussed, by phone and in writing via emails, was a "daily-rate." I wrote him and told him that I had another contractor willing to do the work for $1,800/day, which for two days would be $3,600. Philip quoted over the phone, $5,000 for those two days, but when I said I'd have to think through that, as it was more than the other bid, he called back within a minute or two and said, he'd do it for $4,500 for those two days (and this was before he ever saw the photos or the job site). We were talking daily-rates. Period. We have areas covered in briars (thorny vines) that I asked him to clear and sent photos stating that "we may have a lot more brush, and briars kind of work, underneath trees, and maybe saplings too, more so than straight up trees to be removal. That said, we do have some trees that I certainly want "treed-up" and some others to be taken down - - - and we'd like to keep the firewood." His response was this: "Hey Jeff, I've looked over your pictures and read your desires and comments. I'm willing to do the job for the 4500. I'm comfortable at that price. There's a lot of work you guys are wanting done that requires expensive machinery and experienced hands. I have that." But then half way into the actual work, he starts explaining why he can't do the work, that he is more of a "tree guy." I was not having it and told him I sent photos and explained that we had more briars and brush than trees to be removed, and I reminded him, that when I asked him, how was he going to remove the briars, he said. "with chainsaws and a chipper." I asked, are you sure, and he reassured me ahead of time (this was on a Monday), saying "I'm gonna bring six (6) guys, (5 + Me), and they are my direct employees, I don't use subcontractors like a lot of operations, these are my guys, and they are good, I will be on the jobsite the whole time, I don't just send them out and leave, I'm there, I have the equipment and we can do the work - - - we're your company . . . and the weather looks good this week, we could start tomorrow, and this may push into Friday, but we can do it." At this point, he had come to the Ranch job site and I drove him around and talked through everything we needed, and he decided it was more work than he'd thought and said "well, that's more than I realized . . .you did not send any photos of the area along the tank, so this really 'could be as much as $10,000. I'd say, high-end, $10,000'." And since he mentioned FRIDAY, I asked if this might spill over into Saturday and if they work on Saturdays - - - to which he said "no, we really try not to work on weekends, and I have my grandkid on Saturday, so it would not go well to have this go into Saturday - - -we should be done by then." So, he begins the next day... TUESDAY. But right off the bat, he had one guy drop off a trailer and leave, and he had 4 guys + himself remaining, and then Philip left at 1 PM not to return until after 5:00 PM, to pick up the crew, having left me sitting in my truck watching the guys. The reason Philip left was to go pick up a pole-chainsaw as the one they brought, stopped working. I explained that the Echo-brand chainsaw he wanted, they did not have at the local Mineral Wells Hardware store, and that he'd have to drive over to the Home Depot in Weatherford to get it. I even called the local Hardware store who confirmed that. But he literally left to just go shopping at Tractor Supply, then the local hardware store, before meandering over to Home Depot in Weatherford. So, a 90-minute activity took him all afternoon. The next day, he brought a subcontractor who showed up around noon. At every turn I got
