My waiter was friendly and on top of things: greeted me immediately, handed over the menu, and quickly returned with a large chocolate milk (always hits the spot after church). I ordered a classic combo--scrambled eggs (with an extra egg added), three sausage links, deep-fried hash brown patties (the crispy, golden McDonald's-style ones that arrived instead of the chunky home fries I was expecting), and wheat toast. A nice table near the baseball game caught our eye. We didn't eat only ordered drinks. They arrived promptly and cold. My Margarita was perfect and went down quick. I enjoyed that they had a AMI Jukebox so I played a few songs. While we drank and the hour got closer to 5pm the tavern started to fill up with locals getting out of work. Next thing I knew there were people everywhere. Hugging, laughing and chatting away. However, our food, no matter how large the portion was, was not very good. The egg of the omelette was brown in spots and too crunchy for my tastes. The ham pieces were good, the sautéed onions were great. But where on earth is all the cheese?! No cheese on top, and all the cheese was towards the folded portion inside the omelette. Now, I know we asked for modifications from American cheese to cheddar, and we asked for hash browns to be added to our omelette, but the taste just wasn't it. Also, the salt and pepper shakers were icky to the touch. And then we got our bill, and we were astonished to see how much two omelettes, a coffee, and two waters with lemon were. I've had wayyyy better omelettes for a lot less (see my other reviews). Might be a fun place to hang out with friends and have a drink, but definitely not a good breakfast spot.
