I have chased after these guys for almost 2 months to give an estimate on cutting back some live oak branches in our new house. Our homeowners insurance is going to cancel if we don't ... and soon. I finally got someone here on Thursday and said he would have quote to me by the end of Thursday - 2 days later - no calls no quotes - no contact at all. While the were the lowest of the bids I received (by $700) they would benefit greatly by improving communication & having on site foreman. They completed the tree removal within an hour and a half. The truck that came to load the limbs left 2 huge oil stains on the street at the mouth of our driveway. And left the yard a mess after removal. Also took them 2 additional time of sending someone to remove the mulch from grinding the stump. Despite these points, was worth saving $700 but the lack of communication during the days it took from start to finish leaves the customer guessing and having to call them to find anything out. This business would benefit from increasing customer communication and having an on site Forman to ensure a clean job site upon completing the work. read more

We had Stillmans take out several very large palms and a huge, overgrown sea grape bordering our neighbor. The Stillman crew were very careful taking them down as to not damage any surrounding landscaping. A large, ground-hugging part of the sea grape was missed and they happily returned to tidy it up. We recently purchased a house on a large lot, seriously overgrown with numerous unruly oaks and palms, in need of pruning, and more than 20 scrub pines, all of which we wanted to remove. Al, the estimator from Stillman's studied our proposed job carefully and quoted us a reasonable price. The job took three long days, with a large crew, and required a crane to remove the trees. The crew did an immaculate job, and the "jungle" surrounding our house, now feels more like a park. Kudos to the entire crew for their extremely hard and tidy work! read more

I decided that after 9 years living in my house that the trees in my yard and one hanging over my yard from a neighboring tree needed to be trimmed. The one hanging over was especially problematic because it was laying on and growing around some phone and cable wires. I emailed Stillman Tree Service for an estimate and within a couple of hours, one of their reps was at my front door! We went over everything I needed done and he gave me an estimate I found to be fair. He told me they would schedule a time in the coming week to get it done. I was getting ready to leave for my daughter's softball pracitce and there were three workers in my front yard, ready to start cutting. Wow! now that is service. It was getting dark, so I didn't think they would be able to finish that night, but I got home 2 hours later and it was mostly complete. There was one tree, where I didn't think they had done everything we discussed, so the next day when they came out to collect the money I showed them what I needed done. By the end of the day it was completed to my satisfaction. I am very impressed by the swiftness and quality of work. Except for a couple of scattered leaves, I couldn't tell that the workers had been in my yard. They were more prompt and quick about getting the job done then I would ever have imagined and now I feel safe with the oncoming hurricane season that my trees will be able to weather it with minimal damage to them or surrounding property. Pros: guys were very nice, they cleaned up, and what they did was done well. Cons: Showed up one week late..we had to keep calling to get them to show up. The price quoted wasn't the price. The guy who quotes does not do an adequate job. Then it turned out that the specific things we asked to be done were not included in the quote. What we actually needed done and what was our priority, we will now have to bring another company out to do because they only did half of what we needed. I mean I'm not an arborist but even I can figure out that the job was not done the way it should have been. Which makes me sad because we had to save for months to get enough to call someone out and it's very upsetting that now we are back at square one with the wasted money rather than being happy that our trees are finished. read more

This is the WORST tree company you could hire. Save your money and your time. That's all they do is waste your time, and overcharge. Decided to hire them, stayed home, and they never even showed up or called!!! Thank goodness, I am sure their 'special pricing' would have gone up too. My back neighbor is letting their trees grow into my property so they knew I needed someone in May, not in September. I spoke with the Manager Rick (who was nice and agrees I should let everyone know about how bad their service is). if they can't even call to tell me they are not going to show up, after waiting all day, imagine the horrible work they would have done. It pains me to report that the company has changed, for the worse, over the last 3 years. Sure, the high prices remain the same, but the quality of work has diminished greatly. A month+ long delay in even starting the job was not, as it turned out, as bad as the inexperienced crew showing up way beyond their scheduled appointment time. "Shaping the canopy" of a couple of trees turned into slicing off more than half of the tree's branches. While this would have been fine for the trees on the side of the house, it does not bode well for front lawn curb appeal. Their tardiness interfered with my afternoon plans, and they assured me the job would be finished "properly." Upon my return, my mailbox had been knocked off its post and poorly re-secured. Proof that it was the tree removal crew lie in the dirty handprints all over the mailbox and post. Tree limb debris left in and on top shrubs lining the house and around the trees. I have been constantly lied to by the girl in the office regarding appointment dates and times. As I am writing this review, I am again inconvenienced by Ben Stillman's Tree Service follow-up visit meant to "satisfy the customer." Really? More frustrating is that their dishonesty renders them incapable of picking up the phone and calling me to let me know that once again, the promised morning appointment was not to be. Again, I was lied to about morning appointments in my area...the company doesn't do them! So, why the bogus apology and promise that a more experienced crew would be at my place first thing in the morning? It is well past noon as I write this, waiting and watching for the crew to show. Albeit, I'm not holding my breath hoping they will show up soon. I'm just hoping they show up, finish up, and NEVER return. Customer satisfaction? Not in their dictionary. Should you choose to use this company, do so at your own mental anguish, and best of luck. UPDATE: More lies and delay, just to get them to come back and clean up their mess. If your time means nothing to you, then by all means, Stillman's Tree Service is your kind of company. UPDATE II: After blowing off steam to Al, the estimator, a miraculous thing happened. At 5:00 p.m., the crew of Josh, Derek and Jeff arrived to try and fix the mess created by the first crew! No waiting, no rescheduling, no more lies by the office girl. Just good and courteous service. I graciously thanked Josh, Derek and Jeff before they drove off with a trailer load of debris left behind by the first crew. I would gladly hire these three gentlemen as independent contractors! read more

It took a few weeks for them to get here because of all the rain we've had, but once they came they did an excellent job. They trimmed our 3 really tall palm trees in our front yard at a reasonable price. They cleaned up all of the branches and hauled them away. We're very pleased with the job they did! read more
