Holy cannoli do they have a LOT of fabric . It took me a minute to get acclimated to the different sections but there is clear signage everywhere. Their prices are competitive, I'm not sure if they have coupons, they definitely had sales. I'd checked out the website prior to going and they have a good selection of classes too which is great for a newbie quilter like me. My mom and I went during the week so I can't speak to how busy they are on the weekends but we were there with maybe 10 other customers? There was plenty of staff around and they knew immediately if SG stocked the collection(s) I was after. When I brought my fabric to be cut the ladies were again helpful when I was trying to choose a neutral for my quilt. They helped me answer the age old question of gray or cream (gray won ) and then started cutting the yardage for me. They snip the fabric and then rip it, which seemed aggressive hahaha, but it prevents the fabric being cut wonky. I'm not sure I like that but it makes sense. As we checked out, the staff made some suggestions for tools that might help me and I was very happy with my mini-haul. The only thing I was surprised by was their lack of thread . They had one little stand but not many colors. They still get 5 stars because I'm guessing the serious quilters that come here probably have a thread stash, my MIL can piece a quilt top in a day and she could start her own Aurifil store. Was very excited when a friend of mine told me about this store. I coul wait to go. Walked in and was like a kid in a candy store until it was time to check out. I have never been so I didn't realize that you have to stand in a certain spot to check out. When told...rudely...I explained it was my first time so sorry I didn't realize where I had to stand. Then, she took ladies before me...not knowing about the express line bc they didn't have fabric to be cut...never explained to me that this was something they did and is that ok. Why are you doing inventory on a day it's supposed to be open? When I searched online for Stitchers garden and hit drive it shows that you're open? When I get there there's a taped sign on the door informing of the inventory closure. The short time I was there by the door 3 others came and went. Seriously, you're losing money! This store has now moved to Brentwood and is probably 5x the size of the store that was in Franklin. Unfortunately the owner passed away earlier in the year and they are hoping someone will want to continue Myra's legacy. They have started having sales and it's 1000 upon 1000's of bolts of fabrics are well organized. Bring a protein bar or a little snack and plan to take it all in. read more

They Moved into a HUGE new building!!! 144 Wilson Pike Circle, Brentwood. I was there today, they have not opened officially yet but I called and they said "come on by and you can look around". The new space is beautiful and Double the size as the one on Royal Oaks. The owner was there and she is such a sweet lady. They have everything beautifully organized and a GIGANTIC assortments of fabrics. I was told they will be offering classes in the near future. Don't miss out on this GEM!!! I have to say, I almost didn't go given some of the reviews on Google. Then I missed the turn and almost gave up. I'm so glad I didn't. HOLY COW!!! The selection of high quality quilt cottons is unbelievable (AGF, Kaffe, Moda, etc.). I can usually stroll through a new-to-me store in a few minutes and pick up something fun (or not). I went up and down EVERY aisle! Had a lovely conversation with one of the gals working there (wish I'd gotten her name - so kind!) and chatted with Myra a bit as well. She was delightful. I do think signage could help (though I still would have wandered up and down Every. Single. Aisle!). Some manufacturers are displayed all together, while others are combined into colorways or themes. Books and patterns looked like they may still be a work in progress - but there is a LOT to choose from. We all organized differently and that's fine, but signage could help a newbie find what they're looking for a little more efficiently. Some cute touches - the way she folds her fat quarter bundles are unique (to me). It was busy (pre Quilt Week in Paducah, so lots of road-trippers passing through). Only one cutting table, which does lead to waiting. But there's always something inspiring to look at on the walls, or a conversation to be had with fellow quilters that make me not mind the wait. As I am just here for work this week - from Minnesota, and am very disappointed that I can't become a regular. My checking account, however will remain intact a bit longer... read more

Everything is Helter Skelter in this store. The fabric is not organized at all so if you are looking for something particular plan to be there for quite awhile. I waited 40 minutes with just 2 people in front of me to check out and this is because only the owner is allowed to "rip"(she does/will not cut) the fabric and she is VERY slow. I was grateful that I was not behind the lady with 30 bolts of fabric to cut. I estimate the wait behind her would be a minimum 1 1/2 hours. Never have sales on the fabric. Limited store open days and hours. Long story short: 1.a huge amount of fabric choices 2.No organization and you better watch where you step. Fabric is EVERYWHERE. It has got to be a fire hazard! 3. I live out of town, but the last 2 times I've been to Nashville, I've stopped by The Stitcher's Garden. I don't know why, I do this to myself! She has so much fabric and it is piled up everywhere! I can't believe the store could pass a fire inspection. I won't b coming back. It's too difficult to find anything. I'm also not sure how current the fabric is. I saw some bolts dated 2014, which is fine if you are trying to match something from your stash. Good luck trying to find it though. read more

I've been in many quilting and fabric stores and have loved many of them for different reasons. I wish I could say that the Stitcher's Garden was loved in it's own special way, too. To say that the place is unorganized would be a nice way of putting it. I felt like it was the hoarder's garden. I was looking for specifically for a variety of kid's fabrics in fat quarters or smaller cuts...and found it here and there and again over there...and look down there, too. Why they couldn't have have grouped these together was beyond me. They sold several of these types of kits, and I was looking for 4 different ones. I did eventually find 4 unique sets, but it took some sorting and excavating before I was satisfied that I had what I needed. I checked out the patterns but quickly gave up when I couldn't find any sort of order or organization. I enjoy going to different fabric stores and seeing the different things that each one carries. It's almost like a journal for me. Unfortunately, this was my boyfriend's first experience in quilt shop hopping, and he doesn't quite see what the appeal is. He was also overwhelmed by the lack of organization in the store. I promised him that most aren't like this. One other observation that I have that is more of a personal preference than something they do wrong is that they rip their fabrics instead of cutting with scissors or a rotary cutter. I'm not going to debate on which one is best or anything, but keep this in mind if your preference leans to cutting. One positive thing that I can say is that the ladies are very sweet in the store. Maybe if I had asked for help they could have found the sets I needed faster and they know where every single piece of fabric is in the store, but I feel like I shouldn't have to ask. read more

My wife has been looking for oriental patterned fabric for a quilt for our daughter for a while now, and since we were traveling in Tennessee, we decided to do some shopping here. This place is amazing - thousands of bolts of fabric, more or less arranged by type and color. We spent about 2 hours searching out the perfect assortment of colors and patterns for the quilt, the first time I can remember her being able to find everything she wanted in one go. The owner is a wonderful woman - started out as a chemist in Murfreesboro after college, and, after years as a stay at home mother, decided to follow her joy and dedicated herself to creating what is one of the best quilting stores I've seen. This place is worth a journey - a mast see for quilters. If you're traveling to Nashville, be sure to take a detour out here to Franklin - you won't be disappointed. read more

I was in this store in late Fall 2019 traveling home. I read the reviews before going in so I knew what to expect with the owner. She was not rude to me but didn't offer any help but I didn't need help. I overlooked that and the fact that is was a mess. I concentrated on fat quarters since I didn't have much time. I grabbed a basket and started loading up. I have never seen that much selection. If I had more time, I would have bought yardage. My husband and I, with our dogs, are heading up North late Spring. We are scheduling a 30 minute stop at this shop for me to buy more fat quarters. It isn't far off I-65, so hopefully it will work out for a gas fill up and a quick dog walk too, which he will do while I'm in the shop. My recommendation is to check it out. You will not make a life long friend but you will have plenty of selection of beautiful fabrics. read more

This is a quilters paradise if you have hours to spend sorting thru the bolts. It is daunting and overwhelming. Bolts of fabric stacked everywhere. Cannot believe the fire department has not closed this store down! The owner is elderly and totally incapable or running it but insists on tearing all the fabric herself behind the counter, making wait time uncomfortable. Traveling south through Nashville, I made a point to stop at this shop on the recommendation of a quilting friend. And we're both from northern Ohio. I've come to the conclusion that the "messy" quilt shops have the best stuff. !! I found my beloved IBC silk pins, DMC 50 wt. cotton thread, and lots and lots of reproduction fabric (at the back of the shop) I'm so glad I stopped there. I am so fortunate that I found the Stitcher's Garden when I moved to Tennessee last year! I had recently begun quilting after not having the time for a number of years. The selection of fabrics is the best around, from batiks, solids, holiday, traditional, civil war, contemporary and the latest fabrics by top designers. While the store is a bit crowded with bolts of fabric everywhere, once you get familiar with how it is organized, you can find anything you are looking for. The owner and staff are extremely helpful, knowlegable and interested in your projects. In addition to fabric by the yard, they also have a tremendous collection of pre-cut strips and fat quarters, threads, quilting supplies as well as 100's of books on quilting. Most people spend over an hour just looking, then more to find what they want. The response on gets is often based on ones question, and how informative the question was. If you can't find what you're looking for in this shop it's not because they don't have it, it's because the place is so disorganized and such a mess. They carry a large selection of fabrics, and have lots of stock. However, you can barely get through the isles and there are bolts leaning against the shelves so you can't see what's behind them. Shopper Beware.! What I had read from other reviews did not prepare me for the visual assault of disarray and the bitchy attitude that I received from the proprietor. I asked if there was an area of mark down fabric and was told it was against her policy to mark down any fabric because it was already at fair market value. "That has always been my policy," she said. I then asked if there was a particular way in which the store was arranged. A roll of the eyes, then a short explanation of shelf order. I then looked on my phone for designer names to which she might point me. As I did I remembered from another review that the fabric was "cut" In a back office because thee was no room near the register for "cutting." I also remembered that the fabric is torn and not cut, (which seems prehistoric.) Being warmed of this approach I asked if she would cut any fabric that I chose rather than ripping. "It is my procedure to tear the fabric and I will not change that for a particular customer. That has always been my policy and I won't change it." There was no one else in the store and the customer is always right, but needless to say I left immediately after, disgusted at our verbal exchange and disgusted at the condition of her shop. I needed flannel for a quilt and they showed me exactly where to look. And I've never been in a store with so many options. My favorite quilter loves Stitcher's Garden. This place has more cloth than any place I've ever seen, and it's stacked from floor-to-ceiling. The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Waited in line forever and the owner wouldn't let her assistant help at all. When it was finally my turn she put her friends in front of me. They had 8 bolts of fabric and weren't sure what they really wanted. Their material had been resting against the counter while they left to eat lunch. Ended up leaving because I was tired of standing. She also said she hand writes her inventory with every sale. So very very slow. Wouldn't recommend and she really shouldn't be in the quilting magazines. read more
