Strolling Belfast and happened upon this place! A fantastic steak and a wide variety of whiskey to chose from will please any palate!

The decor and atmosphere was so pleasant! The steak got cooked on a hot stone, such a cool presentation! The oysters were delicious. The drinks were AMAZING! The smash cocktail is dangerous and I would have it a million times over. Yum!!!!

The most delicious sticky toffee pudding with house made butterscotch

Excellent Steakhouse, best in Belfast! Wonderful service and phenomenal steaks! Loved the hot stone presentation and pre seared filet, it was perfect. Do NOT skip dessert, the sticky toffee pudding with house made butterscotch was to die for WOWWWWW probably the best dessert I've ever had in all of my travels. Would absolutely go back next time we cross the pond.

I had gone to the place on a work dinner. The place has a good ambience to hang out with the team. I went for their 2 menu @ 15£ . The mussels was very good. Then I ordered the steak for main course. They have this way of serving the steak on a hot stone and we have to cook the steak on it for few minutes before we could eat them. All of my team mates loved it, but I liked it just fine. I would give the stars for the ambience and the unique way of cooking on stone! PS. The fries with whisky pepper sauce, muaahhhh!!

12 oz salt aged sirloin was utterly tasteless
    Shannon N.

Wow, what an utter disappointment. Our food was all very bland. The 12 oz salt aged sirloin was tasteless - and quite expensive (26.95). The lamb was a little better, but the side dish of "Beluga Lentils, Green beans, Baby Carrots & Pancetta" was inedibly salty. Terrible disappointment. The hand cut chips side came drenched in mayo - why not serve the sauce on the side so it doesn't destroy the crisp chips? The best part of the meal was the banana dessert, but it was too little, too late. And we all smelled of grease after leaving. Will not return.

    Sticky Toffee Pudding

The best restaurant in Belfast! The orzo pasta is delightful, the steak on the stone is amazing - so so tasty!!!! When it comes to dessert the Sticky Toffee Pudding, the Baked Alaska and the Chocolate were our favorites. If I'm ever in Belfast again I would come back here in a heart beat! Extremely friendly staff, so nice !!!

Trimmed fat & two bites of unchewable gristle.

Visit started well - earnest & friendly servers. Good starter. Then steak came - 8 oz sirloin - couldn't slice due to thick layer of fat/gristle. When I cut that off, about 1/3 of steak gone. Server asked how I was doing, and I said this seemed like a lot of fat for a small sirloin. She looked upset & confused & went to talk to "kitchen," but I saw her talk to the man who seated me. He came over & explained that fat gives meat its flavor. I showed him how MUCH fat - he said "yes, that does look like a lot. But we do weigh it," and then left. Precisely my point - the fat should have been trimmed a bit before weighing. Way too much fat on a small cut of sirloin! Food was decent other than that, and vibe/decor was great. I left feeling a bit "had" in terms of paying for a quantity of fat, no apology, no attempt to make things better. I won't be back and can't recommend it. Too bad - wanted to love it.

So I was out here for a wee date night last week, it was mid-week and we were going to go to Solo to use a wee voucher, but the other half is fussy about atmosphere and hates being the only people in a place. Solo was very quiet (Not surprising for a Wednesday night) so we had a look in the other spots in the vicinity. I'll be honest I was edging for home but then we had a look a Stix and Stones and decided to give it a go as neither had eaten there before. Going in I love the décor, its that kind of Modern exposed brick look with comfortable seating and the odd touch if kitch (Porcelain ducks lining a wall, porthole mirrors etc) Its a very cool place. My eyes nearly rolled out of my head at the prices but it is city centre and I have to say the food was well worth paying the extra for. So we had a glass of wine each (Malbec I think, but it was delicious) and he got the Rump steak (Who doesn't love a nice piece of ass) and I got the fish of the day. Mine was cooked while his came out 'On the stone'. I loved the drama of cooking it yourself, the only downside is the smoke and the cooked smell that permeates your clothes after. The food itself was superb. Perfectly seasoned. You need to order sides, though we did one each and split it, (Cocannon crochets and Veg) which was perfect. The service was great and the food was great and I'm dying to go back and work my way through their unique cocktail menu! Overall a great great place, just a wee bit on the pricey side for me to be a regular haunt. Though in saying that its worth the extra for a wee treat for the flavour and the drama!

Stix and Stones gets a full five stars from me! I've been twice now and just love it! Being the creature of habit that i am, i ordered the same thing both times, the Calamari starter and the Mushroom pasta for main - both delicious! The starters are huge - you could probably just share a starter. I've never had a cocktail here but i noticed (with serious envy) someone elses cocktail that was served in a cork bottle in a bucket of ice. It looked amazing. Stix and Stones deserves a full five stars!

    Hot plates of steak

Been here a few times, usually opt for lamb or steak on hot plate. It's a good deal if you go pre theatre at £14.95 for two courses. Sides are usually good too. My friend had seaweed battered salmon and cod last time and said it was v good but we just got hot plates this time. See pic. Wine is from £4.50 a glass and about 12 cocktails to choose from at £7.95. I didn't have one but there was plenty around and looked huge. The place is nicely decorated and staff are friendly. Seems quite busy most nights when I pass home.

First time ever at stix and stones, sort of knew what the concept was but had no clue where the venue was, and what can I say!! Was well impressed not just with the food but with the decor and the customer service! From start to finish the staff were all professional and knew there stuff, we went for the pre theatre menu which was £16 for 2 courses or £19 for three courses which was excellent value, I went for a salad starter and a 7oz rump steak main (£2.50 supplement) and the wife had some fish starter which I can't remember what it was but it was very nice and the tuna for main and that was lovely as well, my starter was good, but my steak was perfect, was worried it would have been small but the side order of Cajun fries and the steak where perfect amount for me, can honestly say it was one of, if not the best steak I have had!! The staff were excellent, u could tell they were trying to push u to spend more, but not forcefully and where more recommending cocktails, desserts etc can say we will be back again and hopefully soon!!!

Visited here for the first time last night, thanks to Yelp and manager Stevie for giving me and hubby a voucher Have to say, it lived upto its reputation...I loved it! I was too overcome by the food to even remember to takes pics of the decor, but that's no bad thing I reckon lol! We were promptly seated on arrival despite not having a booking, and as it was just after 6pm, were offered the choice of the a la carts menu or the pre-theatre set menu (which we both chose) 2 courses were £15.95, 3 courses for £18.95! Bargain! Especially for city centre! Our server Orlagh (fantastic name ) and another girl which I regret didn't catch her name, were lovely, accommodating and when they heard it was our anniversary congratulated us and we're so pleasant!! Really nice girls! They even sent out a congratulatory dessert plate So...onto the food Hubby ordered 2 course (wimp) and I ordered 3 course (fatty) He had the Parma ham, tomato & mozzarella salad, 7oz rump (on the stone) with Cajun fries (with pesto, crème fraiche & cheddar) I had smoked salmon parfait, yellowfin tuna steak, hand cut chips with truffle mayonnaise & parmesan and pineapple Eton mess with a rum cream for dessert O.M.G!!!!! It was all delicious! I mean...gorgeous!!! The server Orlagh (again fantastic name!) explained to us how the stone worked, not to touch as it was 400oC () and that the meat was seared already, all we had to do was take it off, cut into bite size chunks, then place back on the stone for 30 seconds to 1 min depending on how you liked it I also had a cheeky 1/4 bottle of prosecco, and a stix mojito....which was damn fine! Although the cocktails are £7.95...so if I went back, I would have to stop myself from racking up quite a hefty bill! All in all I had a fantastic meal! Dying to go back...maybe for a cheeky lunch after hitting the shops

I secured an online reservation last minute, and I am so glad we had the chance to dine here! Mourne Seafood Bar is in Belfast's City Center, next to Kelly's Cellars pub which was bustling at 9PM. Our oysters were brought out in 5 minutes; the mains took 20 minutes. In my experience, the service was standard. What we ordered: -1/2 dozen of natural oysters: This was my FIRST time ever eating oysters. I was pleasantly surprised of how fresh, non-fishy smelling, and non-slimy they were! I tried the oysters by themselves, then with lemon and Tabasco, which I find more tasty as they enhance the flavors. -Beer battered cod and chips with mushy peas and tartare: The cod portion was HUGE and piping hot. The cod was properly cooked, not dried out as other fish and chips eateries. The thick steak fries were crispy on the exterior and fluffy on the interior. I did not like the mushy peas as a personal preference. -Pan fried fillet of seabass: Absolutely delicious. The seabass was flakey with a crispy skin. Clams were properly cooked. Saffron mashed potatoes supported the fish. It was a hearty and balanced meal. -Rockshore cider: This tastes like your standard apple cider. It is crisp and sweet and does not taste like alcohol. Atmosphere/Layout: It is a very narrow restaurant that can fit maybe 40 diners inside. The tables are very small too. I would recommend having a reservation due to the limited space. It was warm inside, which is nice from the brisk, windy weather. Diners seem to be all locals catching up over a meal and every table around us had wine or alcohol.

I went for the first time a couple of weeks ago and really badly want to go back asap. The interior is just the kind I love, all starched linen tablecloths and napkins. The atmosphere however is not starched, well not at our table anyway and no-one complained so it must be the kind of place you don't have to whisper. Tedfords is famous as a seafood restaurant which fits with its location right down at the water in Belfast. I had smoked salmon, crab mayo and quail egg. Without the quail egg. If you've read any of my other reviews, you'll know that eggs make me hurl. The good news is that the waiter didn't huff or puff of look as if he felt sorry for me. The other good news is that the salmon was fab - delicate and beautifully flavoured. I felt obliged to have fish again for main course and boy was I glad. On of my group had recommended the curried monkfish and I now do too. It was sublime - the meaty fish was matched brilliantly by the creamy sauce and fragrant coconut rice. I was all full up with no room for desert but managed 2 spoons of the husband's chocolate soufflé with fresh (huge) strawberries. Bliss. Tedford's is certainly not cheap but for a special night out as a couple or with friends, it is my new must go to.

The ambiance is cozy, upscale, and yet makes for a nice place to hang out with friends. Go for the pork belly which comes as a big chunk of meat, perfectly seared and chewy. The monkfish was the standout of the night. I was congratulated for my menu prowess with a "best lineup of the night" comment, but I think the monkfish was the MVP. The lobster roll was crispy, buttery but not watery, and substantial without being overly fishy. The curry sauce that accompanied the dish, I could have eaten alone or just with the rice though the thick cut and well seasoned fish made it all the better. All around the mulberry bush, the monkfish was the best I've had. Dessert was this assortment of sweets that put together I think looks like a muppet's head. The peanut butter ice cream was delicious with a great balance of sweet and slight salty savoryness. The custardy chocolate was also excellent and on the dark side which offset the sweetness of the ice cream. The crispy biscuits provided a texture difference and cut through the sweetness to keep it from getting cloying. The service was a bit aloof though. Our waiter over-poured prosecco to overfill the glass, spilled wine on the table, and nearly knocked out someone with a plate.o the owner or employees.

The outside of this place was an industrial-looking building that nobody would have thought it's a fish n chips place. Parking was TIGHT! So be warned!! The moment you walked in, it gave out an old harbor diner feel (not sure if that's how you describe it)... Tile flooring, straight 90-degree wooden booths. They have both takeout and dine-in service, so we decided to enjoy the moment and sat in for our fishy. Most of the items have both regular size or what they called a "supper" size, which just means more on the chips... or fries for us North Americans. We ordered the classic Fresh Battered Fish and a Pastie (huh?) As you wait for the goodies, you could hear the sound of fish or chips being fried, that's really music to my ears! The fish was LONG! Fried to perfection with minimal batter, just the way it's supposed to be to showcase the main character- FISH! Despite ordering the regular fish n chips, the portion of the fries was perfect for us... those fries were THICK CUT and the size of my thumb!! And then, our mystery Pastie arrived. My first thought was "a flatten ball of..." FISH PASTE and potato (pure guesses on the potato part, not 100% sure). It was a very interesting fried loveliness for us... it tasted a little like those Asian fish sausages with onions. Overall, CHEAP and WORTH THE DRIVE! I was assured that the chef would ensure there would be a vegan option available for me, so I was stunned when I arrived to find that they had prepared a vegan menu for me, with a choice of three starters and three mains, any of which would have suited me perfectly. After a lot of deliberation over the amazing offerings, I went for oyster mushrooms in garlic and parsley olive oil, followed by tomato and pimento risotto, with spinach and rocket, then finished off with coffee and mints. This is fine dining at its absolute best and everything was so delicately crafted and perfectly flavoured in a way I have never experienced before. My boyfriend loves seafood and he adores this place, always opting for the seafood platter, which is a mountain of weird and wonderful seafood, which he assures me is delicious. It was my birthday so the lovely GF took me as a surprise, we were booked in for 7 and were a little late but we were the only ones there so needn't have bothered with a booking. The place gradually filled up from 7.30 on but I don't eat late so suits me. Everyone told me how great /wonderful/fantastic Mourne Seafood Bar was...but NO ONE told me this is where Sir Edmund Hillary trained before his ascent on Everest...I mean MAN IT WAS COLD!!!! They put us near the window and it was bad....we asked them to put heat on and it was great then. Food was fantastic, a smallish menu by some standards, but what you got was finger lickin' good! To start we had a mixture of chili prawns and hot and salty squid....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! For my main I had smoked haddock (it was a hard decision) which came on a bed of crushed spuds and vegetables, delicious! GF opted for the BIG pot of mussels (oink oink) in garlic, white wine and cream, with chips and a side of wheaten (which I ate oink oink oink!!!!!) To finish we shared the white chocolate cheesecake and mango and passion fruit mousse, pure heaven. But afterwards it was terrible...I needed a lie down, and I could hardly breathe!!! Too much good food, my 20 inch waist could hardly take it all in... serves me right for having a THIRD slice of the delicious wheaten. I just cant say no when it is there right in front of me begging to be eaten, with a gorgeous pat of real butter, not this make believe spread that might look the same as real butter but has the taste of used tractor oil. We will be back! And before too long . Go!

This suited us as we were after a quick lunch. I'm currently trying to start a wee health kick so I decided against burgers or steaks. I ended up going for a crab pot. It came out beautifully presented (see picture) with a lovely cucumber and lemon garnish and a side of local wheaten bread. I also went for a filter coffee that was delivered within minutes of ordering. I really enjoyed my visit, although I'd love to go back and sample the service and atmosphere on a busier evening. The decor has been put together really well, the long mirror gives a spacious feel to a small intimate restaurant. Definitely would recommend a visit, the menu is large so you'll find something you like. This is more of a 3.5 than a 4 but I'm generous!

First things first - this restaurant is part of the Made in Belfast group of restaurants to the decor etc is quirky where very little matches. The restaurant is brighter than i remember and the gross chip board seems to have been threw into a chipper. This was a relief. The waitress was really friendly and full of great chat. From the menu I ordered the Mousetrap burger. This meal came with onion rings and skinny fries on the side as standard. This was a winner for me, as the restaurant universe of late has been presenting sides as an optional offering rather than an inclusive wonder. So bravo to strip joint for throwing in 2 sides. The ambiance is relaxed and the service was great. I would recommend giving this place a visit. Men bring your wives, there is something for everyone
