My son…read moreand I decided to start doing these small private charters and our trip today with Captain Shaun was AMAZING. We did a trip a few weeks ago with another company and it was horrible. I wasn't sure what to expect today, but I can tell you that I'm now going to be a repeat customer. Captain Shaun was cool to work with. He asked us what we wanted to do. We trolled, we fished for rockfish and bass. He let us work the poles and bait the hooks. He was awesome to talk to, he was great with my 7 year old son. I cannot recommend this company enough. We ended up with like 15 fish today, mostly rockfish, but we also had some other stuff, bass, sheepshead, a small shark and a few others. No yellowtail today, but it was awesome anyway. We caught spotted bay bass in several locations up and down the San Diego bay. His boat is top quality! Set up with a powerful trolling motor and modern electronics. Plenty of storage, clean and all in working order. I was very impressed with the tackle and lures we used. I've taken other guide trips where the tackle was old and worn, but not the case with Risen Tide. Rods and reels were new and in great condition. We used both spinning and baitcasting set ups that performed perfectly. For anybody looking for a fun day on the water I highly recommend Risen Tide. You will not be disappointed and will go home a better angler.

My 7 year old son and I just finished a 4 hour bay trip with Captain Eric. We both had a great…read moretime. We had a brief conversation yesterday to go over the where/when to meet, etc. Eric arrived right on time and we were off in minutes. He had us to a spot and both fishing within 10 minutes. He focused most of his time guiding my son on proper technique. After a few nibbles but no fish, he recommended we try elsewhere. He kept us moving to find where the fish were more active and it really paid off. Over the next couple of hours, we had probably landed ~15 or 20 spotted bay bass, a handful of mackerel and even a decent sized corvina. It was so much fun for both my son and I. With a bit more than an hour left, we decided to go for something bigger. Captain Eric had us in a new location with the rods and reels set up shortly afterwards. We were rewarded with a pair of large leopard sharks to end our day. It was a wonderful experience, due in no small part to the expertise of Captain Eric. The boat was clean and well organized with modern equipment. We will be booking another trip sometime soon.
