There might have been a management change or some reorganization of employees because my experience with stocker chevrolet was pretty good. Brought my car in for the brakes to be checked. After a day they called and it was ready to be picked up. The service department explained the issue with the brakes and the repairs performed which were all free of charge including labor. I also had to buy windshield wipers. The guy who sold me them worked in the service department and was called Adam. He was great as he showed me how to install the windshield wipers. I also got a free coffee while I was there which was a definite plus. Overall, solid service. read more

Firstly, I love how most reviews are 1 star and the "review highlights" are glowing. I sure do wonder if Stocker has a Premium Yelp account. Anyway, the customer service experience was pleasant enough, but the overcharging is truly evil at Stocker. Even if I give them the most generous possible benefit of the doubt, Stocker charges $227 an hour for labor, double what I've experienced anywhere else in the state. And I'll go into why I do not advise giving Stocker the benefit of the doubt. I am not a car guy at all, but it took me 45 minutes with youtube, a screwdriver, and a jack to get to the washer fluid reservoir when it stopped holding fluid. I thought the problem was a cracked reservoir, so I intended to attempt a repair with some epoxy, but when I found the pump was the problem, I figured it wasn't worth waiting for the delivery and I needed an inspection this month anyway. I told them at the front desk everything I saw and they said it would cost $100 just to diagnose, which was already about as much as I was hoping to spend on the repair, particularly when there didn't seem much mystery left, but I said ok. I get that taking off a tire and the liner and the bumper to access the pump in a Bolt is more work than an oil change, but I can't understand where $450 went [Edit:] Just wanted to add to my review a confusion over the representative's reply. Please google "replace washer pump chevy bolt" and scan through any of the first 10 results, seeing how once you take off the bumper, the pump is completely exposed. True, that bumper requires like 30 screws and a tire to come off, but I would imagine that the Chevy dealer that sold me my Chevy has removed enough Chevy bumpers that it would not be a $450 adventure. And the mechanic said that the first $100 was finding it! So then what was the rest? I'll take his offer for transparency. If he reaches out to me, I'll put another $500 on the table if I can't get to the pump in less than 30 minutes [Double edit:] I just want to highlight that the Stocker rep that replied to this comment edited their response to remove a part about how it's important to factor in labor to repair costs. I didn't screenshot or memorize the comment, so maybe there was more to the edit, but it did make me realize something else: let's assume for a moment that a 2 hour repair (as reported by Stocker and seen in the text screenshot) was a reasonable amount of time. At $453.94, that puts the labor at three pennies shy of $227 per hour. Ask your local mechanic what they think about that number before you try your luck with Stocker. I'm changing the beginning of my post to reflect this realization. [Triple edit:] The Stocker rep has now deleted their comment defending the cost and replaced it with "we're looking into it." That was more than two weeks ago, so I can only hope the investigation isn't draining too many precious resources. If it is, I'm sure I'll get a bill for it. For what it's worth, I'll contribute my theories: (1) just your ordinary highway robbery where they force a $100 retainer to even agree to look for the problem knowing it'll sting too bad to pull out no matter how much they overcharge; (2) highway robbery + fraud: they factored in the "free" inspection time into the labor; (3) the employee didn't know (or ask, or look up) how access the part, and so they made massively time-consuming mistakes, also known as billable hours [Quad edit:] The stocker rep has removed their "we're looking into it" comment, which is more stunning to me than ignoring it forever or outright deleting their reply, like I had expected. At this point, the rep must at least understand my perception of how quickly the repair could've been performed. If, during their investigation, they uncovered specific knowledge of why it took their team 6 times the labor to get to the part compared to a handful of idiots on YouTube with a phone in one hand, the rep would have mentioned it, thus publicly defending the honor of the dealership and humbling me. So I can't help but feel that the remaining possibilities are (1) they did not look into it, (2) they did look into it but the dealership deleted the footage so there's no way to find what happened, or (3) they found what happened and it was indefensible. read more

This may be the shadiest place I've ever been to for a car repair. (People think they have to their car to a dealership and you typically do not!) These guys are so awful in every single way. They don't call you back when they say they're going to, they tack on things that you didn't need done. They will charge you over $1000 for a $20 part and to put it into your car. Once I finally got my car out of there I called around and found small local mechanic shops that did the same fix for hundreds and hundreds of dollars less. Call around, try some local places, look up the reviews, tell them what kind of car you have, and what the problem is. Skip this dealership and go anywhere else. read more

My wife bought her 2017 GMC terrain at Stocker about 2 years ago. When she brought it home I could hear the tick of an exhaust manifold leak. We ignored it and she drove the car. Coming up on our first free inspection I did a little research and found that cracked manifolds are a common problem on the GM 2.4 Ecotec, it had gotten a little worse so I purchased the part in anticipation that they would fail the inspection, but to our surprise they passed it. She continued to drive the car and I finally got tired of the leak and replaced the exhaust manifold 3500 miles ago. Yesterday, she took the vehicle back for the second free inspection. I am retired Army and a mechanic by trade and I went over the vehicle before she took it in. They failed the vehicle and tried telling her that it had a cracked exhaust manifold and it would cost almost $2000 to fix it. They said it was "loud and visible" but they "couldn't show it to her without taking a bunch of stuff off". My wife is a smart woman immediately called BS and told them she would have me fix it. Then watched the guy go back to his desk and eat a sandwich for 30 minutes before he stapled her paperwork and picked up her key and brought it back. When she got home I crawled all over and under the vehicle listening for an exhaust leak and heard and saw nothing. I checked it hot and cold, under load and at idle and there was nothing. I took it to my local Chevy garage and asked them to find an exhaust leak, both a service manager and a mechanic looked and listened for 15 minutes and found nothing. I then took it to an old mechanic friend who has been doing mechanic work for 55 years and grew up, went to school with and was neighbors with Gene Stocker growing up. He had me block the tailpipe to force a leak while he inspected for a leak. Pressure built and the engine almost died, still Nothing! I called and demanded to talk to a service manager, I got Matt who is a bit of a cupcake, he was very sassy defensive and full of attitude, at one point I got frustrated and said "don't give me your F#^$ing attitude" and he hung up on me. I called back and talked to Cory Stocker the GM, he was actually cool and apologetic. I explained the situation and that my wife felt she was being taken advantage of because she is a woman. He assured me they would never do that and asked that I bring the car in an inspect it with Matt and the mechanic and him. He left me with little doubt that he would try to make it right. Unfortunately at this point my wife is DONE! She feels like she was taken advantage of and told me that she has no interest in either of us going back there. Today I will be taking it to a reputable shop and ask him to do an all out inspection, I am going to tell him if he can gig it, then fail it. If it passes that will seal the deal for me and my family friends and I will never return to stocker. Update: I took it to another shop and asked him to try to fail the vehicle, I showed him the paperwork from Stocker and had him do an in depth inspection. He couldn't find any reason why the vehicle would fail. I asked him to try to find a exhaust leak and he couldn't. This confirms my suspicions that my wife avoided being another victim of a dishonest dealer service department. read more

That car lived to be 25 years old when I decided to get a new Camaro. She could have gone for much longer in Florida's weather conditions after we left State College for good. I sent the car to be crushed. I wasn't interested in a trade. I wasn't interested in selling it cheap. I wasn't interested in finding a collector or someone who liked working on cars to sell her to. Because I didn't want anyone else to drive her. I drove that car from age 25 to age 50. I was the only one who drove that car. I cried when the car was crushed. If the body shop had been willing to cut steel to fix that small hole, the car would have passed inspection. And then I would have paid for work on any rust that needed to be dealt with. I babied that car for 25 years. I got inquiries in parking lots just about every time I drove her. Men would just stop to look at her. I will miss "Nelly." She was a great car. read more

I took my car there for a repair that cost $300. Within three hours of leaving their parking lot the problem started up again. Took the vehicle back to them and they wanted to charge me again. We went back-and-forth and they finally said that since it was the same as the previous problem, they wouldn't charge me. They said they corrected the problem, and 3 miles from driving off of their parking lot the problem came up again. Do not use this facility. If you do then absolutely positively be prepared to spend a lot of money and probably make multiple trips to them for the same problem. read more

My husband has been waiting most of his adult life to purchase his dream truck. He is finally at a point where that dream was becoming a reality. We ordered a fully-customized GMC truck from Stocker back in August. Were told at the time we should expect delivery in July of 2023. In the fall we were told the vehicle was ahead of schedule, and to excpect to pick it up on or about January 23, 2023. We are coming up from Florida, so purchased plane tickets to fly in and drive our new truck home. Just before Christmas, our salesman, Garrett let us know the truck is on the lot! Bottom line is, Stocker wanted to get this thing sold before 12/31 (likely so they could get their monthly sales incentives) and they likely had a buyer wanting the 2022 tax deduction. So while we were scrambling to get our financing a month early, and during the Christmas holidays dealing with our credit union being closed etc, they ***SOLD OUR TRUCK TO SOMEONE ELSE***!!! The truck that we paid a deposit on. The truck that they had me get insurance coverage on (which I now guess I better cancel bc someone else owns it!)...it's now in someone else's garage. Not sure how this will end up, but as of now Stocker seems completely unwilling to make this right with us. They claim we somehow conveyed to them that we no longer wanted our truck and they never reached out before they let someone else sign for it. In addition, they have the tens of thousands of dollars for the truck in their hands, as we overnighted the check to them this past week. "Veteran owned", yeah that is complete bull$hit - way to screw over one of your own - a 28 year disabled veteran (my husband). We are disappointed and disgusted with everyone there. A side note - my family has been in the HD truck business for 40+ years, we would never, EVER screw over one of our customers like this. EVER. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Do not use for vehicle inspections or repair work. New to PA from MI. Inspection failed - they wanted over $5,500 to fix it. Delco part costs marked up more than 100% of what you can buy them elsewhere for. Drove car back to MI - my mechanic fixed everything for under $2k. I came back for reinspection. They then told me that it failed inspection because the wipers were streaking. Amazing they were fine less than 3 weeks earlier and had been replaced 9 months ago. They also reiterated that I had a bad seal on the front end but it didn't need to be fixed for inspection. I ran to store and bought new wipers and brought them to them. They actually said they would put in for free and pass me. I then asked about the bad seal as my mechanic in MI fixed that as well because they mentioned it on the first inspection. I had the receipt and called my mechanic to verify. He confirmed the part had been replaced a week earlier. Stocker then put the vehicle on a lift and cleaned the area - no leak was found. Be careful because they see buildup and tell you that you have a leak - they didn't see an actual leak - my mechanic hadn't cleaned all the buildup off the area when he replaced the part. They also said the car was rusty underneath and may get a hole in the frame and the car wouldn't pass inspection next year and told me the worst area. I took it to a local shop in State College and they said the frame was in good shape for a MI car and didn't believe it was at risk for a frame hole based on their inspection and my mechanic in MI confirmed the same thing. My mechanic in MI said if I ever had a problem he would just weld on a plate and spay it with undercoating if that ever happened and a small hole in a frame doesn't mean trash the car. PA is fueling business for the repair shops and many people are getting ripped off from what I can see. I come from a GM family and several work at corporate - I know what it should cost for a repair and when a diagnosis seems wrong. This will likely be the last time I use a dealership unless it is for warranty work on a new vehicle. read more

We paid Stocker Chevrolet's service department to check for a tire leak and rotate the tires on our Chevy van prior to a cross country drive. They claimed there was no leak and the rotation was done, for which we paid them $109 in October 2013. On the cross country drive we discovered the tire still had a slow leak and was in the same position, which meant the rotation was not done and the tire did have a leak! Upon arrival at our destination we paid again for the same service. Never before have I been hoodwinked like this - paying for a service that was not performed. Not to mention the chance of having a major issue to our vehicle while on a cross country drive. Do not use this business! I would give them zero stars if that rating was available. read more

I bought a 2022 siveraldo LT and the main computer went out at 4600 miles. Took it in after waiting weeks for my appointment. They told me the part wasn't available and they would try to get it from the assembly plant. They gave me a loaner CAR. After numerous calls to the service department I still didn't know when they could get the part. Weeks later I received a call that they sold my loaner. I was told then that it may be 6 months to get my new computer module. Since this was unacceptable I took the loaner back to get a new truck. They gave me trade in value plus $2000 for the faulty truck and got a new one (minus a bed liner and wheel well liners) increasing my payment $50. Now the new trucks hands free dialing doesn't work. When I took it for its first oil change 3 people looked at it and tried to fix it. They blamed it on my phone that works fine with the truck other then hands free dialing. Avoid Stocker!!! I have never received a call from them to see if I was satisfied with their service. Obviously repeat customers aren't important to them. No wonder they only have a 2 star average. As a side note, while getting my oil changed on truck #2 the mechanic changed my Sirius station from christian to gangster rap and didn't even bother to hit the preset button back to one of my channels. So when I turned on my radio my wife and I were greeted with vulgarity. Thanks again. read more

So sad to hear they bought Sutliff, I am, was, a GMC Sutliff supporter as they did a fantastic job on sales end and service department was fantastic, the last vehicle I bought from Stocker I swore I would never buy another! When I went to pick up they weren't sure where the vehicle even was, handed me the keys and said it's outside somewhere nice a 35k vehicle.. I bought the stocker advantage package as an extra and when you get a service part of it was a free wash.. Joke.. First time I ask about it and they gave me a $5 card to red line.. so second service I ask again before I dropped off and when picked up again no wash, again $5 gift card.. So even after the first call when I found out they bought Sutliff very disappointed in the phone service, they tell you twice the call will be recorded! Anyway Stay away and definitely don't buy the Stocker extra advantage plan.. read more

The dealership had taken over for Sutliff Cadillac. I took my 2016 Cadillac Escalade in for a first-year service and inspection. I had purchased it only 1 year prior to the dealership closing. I told them there was a vibration in the front end, the wheel barring was just replaced shortly after we bought it. I had just replaced the tires(wheel barring chewed them up) and put in a new battery. So much for the certified pre-owned warranty. In the first year of ownership, I had already shelled out over 1K. We get a call from them, there is $4k worth of repairs needed to pass inspection. As you can imagine, I was less than happy. I couldn't imagine that it could've passed a 172pt inspection just months before. They were less than helpful. I told them I would take it to another service station for a second opinion. When took it to get inspected, I asked them to double-check all the exact things I was told were wrong with it. Come to find out I only needed rear brakes. My bill was less than $100. I would not take any vehicle there to be serviced. I do not trust them. They do not have your best interest, they are only there to rip you off. read more

Please do not support these guys until they make changes. I was counting on the AAA across the street to give me good advice when they told us to try Stocker. Gads, what a bunch of crooks at Stocker!!! We took our truck in for an INSPECTION. They said it needed $FOUR HUNDRED DOLLAR REAR BRAKE PADS!!!!!!! Then we called around (I know, too little too late, but I trusted the nice folks at AAA) and found Stocker was WAY overcharging us. THEN...get this....they told us we can't take the truck elsewhere to get it fixed...If we left, and for example, bought brake pads elsewhere...we had to PAY FOR A WHOLE NEW INSPECTION even if we brought it back to Stocker! I bet NOBODY leaves there (with anything but a brand new car,) and isn't charged a few hundred for something they do not need! AVOID AVOID AVOID. I broke my rule, never take your car to a dealership, especially if you didn't buy it from that, specific dealership! NEVER AGAIN!!! Now, I wouldn't even get a new truck from them. My experience is that you take care of the little things, so customers come back to you for the big things. Not sock-it-to-the-customers while you can. read more

When you read a yelp review saying the place is terrible, heed that warning. Their body shop had me drive 4 hours from New York without giving me a hint that I had a $1000 bill from the insurance company. After they took about 2 weeks to repair my car. Plenty of time to give a heads up. The solid piece of metal that went through my grille and almost killed me was in the car as I requested. No mention to my well being and no "thank god you're okay" nothing to remedy the situation. They also killed my insurance for $2000 for a $500 job. After I paid the $1000 and expressed my disgust for the service I didn't even get a have a gooThe list of things they needed to "replace" was redundant and unnecessary. So do yourself the favor and bring your car to an auto body shop you trust. You would think for $2000 and $1000 out of pocket they'd at least CLEAN your car but my 2019 blazer looked like it was driven over a mountain. If I could give 0 stars I would. I had a terrible experience from the moment I stepped through the door. From the sales gentleman I was paired with putting me in a car that had a check engine light that brought us to literally a DEAD halt at the end of the test drive. There was zero communication unless I was the one email or calling. They pulled my credit 8 times which dropped my credit score even more. I eventually decided on a car that was overpriced but did have fewer miles than my car. My wife had to bring our 3 kids to wait for an oil change and the waiting area is stocked with goodies, coffee, and toys for the kids. My local dealer is Team Chevy and they have been saying they cannot get my parts and it's been seven months. I call Stocker and they could get me in the next day and had the parts in stock. He even kept it touch after I bought it to make sure I was happy with SUV. I've never bought a car where the process was so quick and painless. Our salesman had absolutely no consideration for our budget or time. When we would test-drive a vehicle and ask how much the car was, he would ask us how much we could afford per month. Every car we looked at, he confirmed would fit into our monthly budget but refused to tell us the total amount of the cars. After choosing a vehicle, we made a deal that several things would be fixed or updated in order to make the sale final. We ended up having to go back 4 times (after being told each time that everything was fixed and taken care of) to get these issues fixed. Our salesman was very rude and pushy when asked about these issues and it took about a month for the issues to be fixed. Each visit to this dealership felt very unprofessional and shady. Stopped on Monday to view a used vehicle listed for sale on their website. Upon arrival was promptly greeted by Glenn, a sales rep. After asking about the vehicle (I am looking for a very specific set of colors and options so was very excited to find one so close to home), was told that it was not on the lot, that the "owner's wife was driving it". I would think that keeping a highly desirable vehicle on the lot would be one of the owners priorities, but evidently not. I still really wanted to see it and was very serious about purchase, so made an appointment to see it on Thursday (3 days later) evening with Glenn before leaving. Upon arriving Thursday (20 mins prior to the appointment), was told that Glenn had left for the day. Entered the dealership to see my name on the welcome board and noted my sales rep as Glenn. I guess he wasn't interested in selling a $42,000 vehicle today. Asked another rep for help and told him I wanted to see this specific vehicle. He leaves his desk and returns after 2-3 mins and asks "who works closer?" to myself and my wife. I ask why that is pertinent. He says "We'll bring it to you tomorrow" I said "don't bother, if the owner's wife likes it that much, let her keep it". It's pretty sad that you are willing to spend $42,000+ on a vehicle listed for sale and you can't even get a glimpse of it, let alone test drive it after being on the lot twice, the second time by appointment with 3 days notice. I took my Chevy Volt to Stockers because there was a rattling noise under certain conditions when the car was in gasoline mode. A technician rode in the car with me and, of course, I couldn't reproduce the noise at first! He told me we could ride around until we heard it, so we did. When it finally rattled, he told me I could start and stop as often as I wanted to make sure he had a good idea of where the noise was coming from and what might be causing it. He was very patient and professional. We returned to the service department and the noise was silenced for good! I was kept informed of the progress of the repair and all deadlines were met. I always feel that I am being treated fairly at Stockers and would recommend this business to friends and family. read more

We have been dealing with Stocker for many years. We buy relatively new used vehicles and keep them for years. Our children now buy their cars from Stocker, too. While most of the vehicles we've purchased have been great, problems that surface have always been fairly and quickly resolved. Their service department is outstanding! Not only do they have some top-notch mechanics, but we have found it easy to schedule service around our trips to Penn State. I must comment about the review where someone misunderstood one of the things that keep us coming back. They are very good at matching my budget with a car and monthly payment that suits my need. They shop financing among many banks, on the spot. The bottom line, always in black and white at the bottom of the page, can always be negotiated, but you have to start somewhere, and what better place than the figure that you will see every month for the next few years. Super nice until I purchased the truck ($10,000) and had problems immediately. She wouldn't return my calls and I had to call corporate GM to get a response from them. Not a good response as they lied to the corporate office and told them I purchased the vehicle "as is". The warranty sticker was in the window when I purchased it. Was there over 3 hours first time another 3 hours 2nd time (waiting for paper work that was supposed to be done when I got there after work). He also thinks women don't know the game of buying a vehicle. Plays you for stupid!!!! Wanted me to agree to buy car without knowing the price, would not show any other vehicles. Also waited over a month for papers from bank for loan. Mr. Glenn gets commission from bank for selling cars. (maybe that why it took month to get paper work) He knew I was going to refinance.
