I love this hidden treasure. I sleep like a baby, the untouched hiking trails, and the people. Truly amazing.

The talent show, movie night, and carnival night are also favorites. Camp fires are an absolutely delightful family activities, which include campfire songs, skits, and scavenger hunts. Adults have a large spectrum of choices when it comes to leisure and physical activities. I prefer to enjoy a couple beers while fishing, playing horseshoes, or lounging on the deck while enjoying the mountain air. However, hiking (both short and all day), cycling, softball, and guided painting are very popular activities that are facilitated by the staff. The one spotty thing is the food. Sometimes it's good, other times not so much. There was one year I went when the milk they supplied had turned. With that being said, you can bring personal food, so if they fall short in this category, it can be remedied.

Camp Sacramento is a great escape from the city of Folsom where we live. We enjoyed playing air hockey, foosball, and pool at the Main Cabin and appreciate all the staff who taught us archery, tie-dye, and s'mores making.

So I just had one of the best weekends EVER…read more Imagine a gathering of around five hundred outdoor enthusiasts camping together under the stars and enjoying a three day retreat featuring some of the absolute best reasons to play outside. Rock Climbing, SUPing, Mountain Biking... just to name a few of the numerous activities offered. I did each of those and had an absolute blast while learning tips and techniques from the experts: pro-athletes, doctors, professors, and certified wilderness paramedics. Pursuit is nicknamed the "Outdoor Adventure Camp For Grown-Ups" for a reason. The all-inclusive package includes top of the line equipment, expert instruction, meals, cocktails, nightly smores, morning coffee, live music, a sweet swag bag, and an all-around insanely good time. Oh, and let me not fail to mention the killer deals from the on-site vendors (I'm saying hello to a new SUP from Isle as a result). You build your own schedule with as much or as little as you want. The classes are diverse and the physical activities give you a rundown of the intensity level. There's even an app for you to keep track of it all on the go. I particularly liked how the groups are intentionally kept small so you get more personalized instruction. Even if you have done some of the activities before, you're definitely going to learn something new. The good vibes are straight up infectious at this giant party in the wilderness. Everyone - and I do mean EVERYONE - had an amazing attitude. The staff could not have been friendlier and even helped me haul my gear and assist with the set up of my tent! Outdoor enthusiasts from all over the country repeatedly come out for this and each person I met was inviting and kind. If you enjoy meeting new friends who love the outdoors, or simply want to learn new skills, this is a weekend not to be missed. I seriously cannot wait for Pursuit next year!!

The teachers here are amazing! My middle schooler even had a teacher from his old public school, which was super helpful since he planed to go back to public high school later. This kept him on track (and even ahead) with what he needed to know. Something that I love is that the kids are outside ALL THE TIME! They have class outside, eat lunch outside, and do pretty much everything outside unless the weather is really bad. In summer, they sit under shady trees with nice breezes. In winter, they bundle up with jackets and blankets near space heaters. It reminds me of how European kids spend way more time outdoors instead of being stuck inside all day. My kids have learned tons and made great friends here. If you've read the book "Wild and Free," this school follows that idea perfectly. Kids learn, play, and grow at their own speed. Even if your kids go to regular school, Wild Roots has awesome summer camps that cost less than a babysitter! The kids learn cool stuff while having fun outside. I tell everyone looking for homeschool help around Folsom to check out Wild Roots. It's been such a great place for my family!
