    2024 theme was Hilltop Rock.

I came here with my family in the 70s, brought my kids in the 90s, and now bring my grandson and his mom. It's everything you'd expect and hope for from a family camp. Food is not gourmet, but it's definitely edible. Beds aren't 5 star hotel quality, but comfortable enough. The staff has always been amazing. Full of energy, helpful, cheerful, and welcoming. Can't wait for mini 3 in 2025!

Less than 2 hour drive!! Had a blast! Was a little slushy by the time we left but nothing my Jeep couldn't handle had an amazing time, was clean, a lot of people were there but we weren't crowded at all and had our own little area for our 2 carfuls. Definitely going back again!

Very nice and close to Sacramento for a nice outdoor view. The camp was clean and staff are very friendly.

Anyone know if the cabins have an outlet for medical devices?

Some cabins have outlets. Google "camp sacramento cabin map" and select "2021 welcome packet." The last page of the PDF has a map that shows the layout and which cabins have outlets.

We recently moved to the area and was looking or a summer camp for my Kinder. We heard great…read morethings about Refuge from one of the local moms group so we decided to sign him up. We met with Lisa and did a tour of the church/campus. Oh my goodness, this place was huge! (got a lot of steps that day lol) We signed my son up for 3-4 days a week for a couple of months. I love that it's a secured campus, each parent sign their kid in through an app, as well as have a designated code for the gate for drop off and pick up. The classrooms are separated by age groups, which I love! My son got to spend his days there interacting with other kids his exact school age. During recess, I believe they get to interact with a few other grade kids. Everyday there is a planned event like movie day, on site field trip day where local vendors come on site and do activities with them, water day, tech day, etc. They do not provide lunch, so you'll have to pack a cold lunch daily. WATER is a MUST! It gets soooo hot, so don't forget! A few months ago, my son asked for us to sign him up again. He really loved the environment, and his teachers! I believe her name is Lindsay?? Not 100% sure but he really liked her energy. Anyway, we're signing him up again this year!

The teachers here are amazing! My middle schooler even had a teacher from his old public school, which was super helpful since he planed to go back to public high school later. This kept him on track (and even ahead) with what he needed to know. Something that I love is that the kids are outside ALL THE TIME! They have class outside, eat lunch outside, and do pretty much everything outside unless the weather is really bad. In summer, they sit under shady trees with nice breezes. In winter, they bundle up with jackets and blankets near space heaters. It reminds me of how European kids spend way more time outdoors instead of being stuck inside all day. My kids have learned tons and made great friends here. If you've read the book "Wild and Free," this school follows that idea perfectly. Kids learn, play, and grow at their own speed. Even if your kids go to regular school, Wild Roots has awesome summer camps that cost less than a babysitter! The kids learn cool stuff while having fun outside. I tell everyone looking for homeschool help around Folsom to check out Wild Roots. It's been such a great place for my family!
