Stockton Family Camp is a very relaxed environment, quiet and peaceful. The camp is usually full of summer campers mostly family's with their kids. The have crafts, archery, hiking, volleyball there's more, they have showers, the lodge is nice there is outdoor seating with umbrellas surrounded by views of the Eldorado National Forest. The fire pit was great. We built a big fire and had s'mores. Bring extra S'more supplies for the ones who don't have any, sharing around the campfire was awesome and everyone can participate. The cabins are small but cozy and warm. We stayed in M2 and there are plenty of outlets, lighting, double pane windows 2 bunk beds and a full size bed a card table with 2 chairs and a cabinet for your things. Bring your bedding. And an ice chest. Remember you are in the mountains it gets cold at night. For us the weather was great. We canoed on Silver Lake and relaxed. It's beautiful. Canoes and kayaking is included in the fee. We came with a group so call for pricing. Oh yes! They do the cooking!!! Yes!! 3 meals a day everything was good. Breakfast they served fresh fruit, cereals bacon eggs biscuits and gravy lunch was sandwiches and dinners have been hamburgers, ribs, roast beef every meal had sides and/or desert and beverage but your welcome to bring your own. This is a non-profit so if you can see what you or your group can do to help the camp stay alive. There's a lot of potential For this camp but it's needs us to stay alive. The shower is broken, and this is after multi-million $$ renovation. Beach parking is tiny as well as the beach. They don't let people to unload their cars forcing them to leave without any excuse. Some kids were literally scared because they lost their parents that have been forced to leave. It's only a 30 minute drive to South Lake which make it an easy choice when other campsites were packed to the brim. We paid $27 into a drop box for the night and chose our own site to pitch up on. Each site is a good size and gives you space from your neighbors. There's a fire pit and bear box for every site. Lots of fun and definitely looking to return!

He loves horses so much, so I called around and found Camp Richardsons Corral. They answered the phone and seemed extremely nice and told me they can squeeze us in for 2 ride around. We arrived, they checked us in, and my son was crazy excited and completely forgot about fishing. Forgive me if I have our horses name wrong, but Murdaugh was a great horse and super sweet. Our guide Betty was really nice and we had great conversations. The price was budget friendly. $30 for 2 ride around. Betty offered to let my husband and I take turns to walk around with our son. We really enjoyed watching our son have the best time ever. We will for sure come back here again!

Great for Families & Touristy Fun -- Just Come Early! We…read morevisited Tahoe Snowmobiles in South Lake Tahoe for snow tubing, and had a really fun time! While the business name suggests it's just for snowmobiles, they also offer snow tubing, which is what we came for -- but it wasn't immediately clear online or on signage. It took a bit of guessing to realize we were at the right place since the signage could definitely be improved. That said, once we figured it out, everything was smooth! Good to Know Before You Go: Tubing is $50 per person per hour, and every person on the property (even if not tubing) must purchase a $10 spectator pass for liability reasons. We arrived around 10:30 AM on a Sunday, and the lines were okay -- but by noon, it got VERY busy. We were so glad we came early. Slopes are perfect for kids -- not too steep, with just the right amount of thrill. Kids aged 3-5 must ride with an adult. There are two entry lines (walk-in & reservations). Booking online ahead might help to save some time. What We Loved: The tubing lanes were well-groomed and smooth. There were staff members at the top helping launch you down gently (or with a wild spin, if you're up for it!) and safety staff at the bottom ensuring smooth exits. Kids loved it, and it felt safe and well-managed overall. Staff were young but hard-working and cheerful. There's a QR code at the entrance to fill out the required waiver -- best to start that while you wait in line. Parking Tip: Nearby parking is $20 per hour, but the first hour is free -- perfect if you plan your visit efficiently. Final Thoughts: Yes, it's a bit touristy and a little pricey -- but it's also a blast and creates great memories and photos for families. If you arrive before 10 AM or later around 3 PM, you'll avoid the biggest crowds and have a much smoother experience. We'd definitely recommend it for families looking for classic snow fun in South Lake Tahoe!

Parking is more difficult at this location as there is not a lot of it, and some spots are farther away. It is also in the same plaza as the Lake Tahoe Historical Society (museum and store) and Tahoe Art League Art Center, so when they are open, parking will be tighter. It is in an older building, which is not as big. I think it is in an old, small school building, judging by the small winding hall leading to the restrooms and activity center. It kind of felt claustrophobic, like a dark dungeon in some parts, or like I was in a time warp and it was the 1950's. There are not as many seniors here as Carson City's. In Carson City, the line of seniors for lunch is insanely long, whereas here you just sit down and they bring it to you and there were not a lot of people, maybe 15 or 20. Lunch seems plainer, and there is a $3 suggested donation for seniors 60 and over and their spouses and dependents of any age, but this is not required (vs. $2.25 for Carson City). Guest accompanied by a senior pay $5. Coffee costs $0.50. The lunch when I came was: tuna salad on a bed of lettuce navy bean soup wheat roll pineapple junks milk I didn't have any, but it seems like standard hospital food or maybe food you would see at a soup kitchen, or the kind of food served when I was in school in the 80's. This isn't fine dining, but at $3, you can't expect that much. I looked in the food storage room, and there were a lot of gigantic canned goods (see my pic). There are activities here in the cafeteria room, such as bridge, bingo, and dancing. There is also a smaller activity room down the hall. Apparently there is also a library and computer room, but I was not aware of this when I went. They also have services here similar to Carson City, such as AARP tax services and lawyers available. I think proceeds here go to Meals on Wheels. There was no sitting area like in Carson City, just the cafeteria. Also, unlike Carson City, there was no gift shop or thrift store here. The employee who greeted me was super friendly. She told the administrator, who was walking by, I was interested in a tour, but she kind of blew past me. That is fine, as I like to explore myself and take lots of pictures. All in all, I felt welcome. It was a let down when I was used to the modern, spacious senior center in Carson City, but South Lake Tahoe is smaller, so I can understand that.
