I broke down two hours from home with a front end issue (CV joint). Not only did Stockwell's have a tow truck there fast, they also rushed to get me back on the road, drove me into town when we knew it was going to take a while, charged me a reasonable rate, and did a great job with the repair. we were given a price for a 10 mile tow. they picked up the vehicle and just took off leaving me stranded on the side of the road. And yes i am disabled as well. they called and dropped the vehicle on their lot after knowing the destination. i was then charged storage saying i never checked to see if it made it. so i pushed back saying that was your choice. after that the price went above 1000 and was told he'd only accept cash and at his time. i would avoid at all cost. even my insurance company look past this business. read more

Owner said he would take a certain amount to release the car. Once we went to pick it up he wanted an extra $2000! Then when asked why he wasn't honoring the previous agreement he threatened violence. Real nice guy. Avoid him at all costs. He is a snake among snakes. Lowest of the low. I called AAA due to my car keys being locked into my car, and Stockwells towing responded to assist me. The technician they sent briefly tried to unlock the car with his tools, and then told me that my car had a new security system that wouldn't allow it be unlocked from the inside anyways. He told me to find a car dealership with a master key in the area. After he left, I called two dealerships, neither of which had a master key. My next call was to a locksmith, who, using nearly the same tools, had the doors unlocked in 30 seconds. Overall, the technician that Stockwells sent was ineffective and then gave me bad advice about what to do next. I would not trust this company to help me out in the future. read more

Though we had arranged a tow with AAA to tow our car to Rochester, Stockwell's Towing grabbed our car and took it further away to Randolph before AAA got there. Kip Stockwell then charged us weekend rates and a storage fee of $80 a day. This added up to $600 cash. In order to get the car brought home, he wanted us to call AAA to pay him to do it. Conveniently, he is the AAA tow provider!?!? When I told him I would be writing to the papers to report his bad business practices and unprofessional attitude, he told me I would never change the way things are because he "is friends with the governor." What a giant child who cheats and lies to get what he wants. There ought to be laws to protect people from predators like this. read more

Worst car service garage I've encountered STAY AWAY or get ripped off. They go out of the way to overcharge you with a smile. They do things you don't need and basically rob you and there is no recourse except to pay. If they are a AAA authorized towing company shame an AAA for using a total crook. read more

Wish there were negative stars for this one. I've had some horrible experiences here, and I want to help others before they make the same mistake and end up emptying their pockets and being treated like dirt. I needed an inspection and I'm not very good at knowing what that entails, but Kip does. Well I told him I needed an oil change and he knew. Then he still went and inspected it, and failed me! You don't set someone up just to make money. He also went off on me on messenger which mind you is completely unprofessional. He's just not a kind person and I won't stand for this kind of crap. Very disappointed with the service not only did it take almost 24 hours to get the car picked and brought to me and then the driver refused to put the car where it goes and as it obviously doesn't drive I'll have to figure out some way to get it where it should be to fix the problem that I had the car towed for in the first place.....definitely telling AAA about this horrible service and will use blakeman from now on read more

I got a flat tire on my way to Burlington this past weekend. The person servicing my car was 20 minutes later than the estimated time and helped another car near me that also had a flat before helping me (the other car did not call for service). When I got to Burlington to have my temporary spare tire replaced, I was informed that two of the bolts were put on incorrectly and needed to be broken off in order to replace the tire. When I called the shop to talk to them about this issue, I spoke with the owner who apparently was also the person who serviced my car. He adamantly denied that he did anything wrong and was condescending and unprofessional through the entire conversation. When I went to pick up my car later that day, the people that replaced my tire showed me the two broken bolts. Given the service I received on the day of the flat tire and the following communication with the owner, I would not recommend anyone waste their time or money using this business. read more

Absolutely avoid this place!!!! This guy is a freaking vampire that will suck every single extra dime he can get from you. My car was towed on a Saturday night by the city of Randolph for plowing, I was parked in front of my building on Pleasant St. I called this guys pager several times on Sunday with no response, a friend of mine was in the same predicament and called a dozen times before having his call returned and being told "Sorry, I'm unavailable". The jerk charged me $250 for towing me 7 miles and $75 a day for being parked in his yard, made me pay for Saturday even though it was towed after midnight. $400 total and wouldn't take a post dated check "cash only". I had to borrow the money or face a $625 total bill by payday. Complete ass, small town business my ass, just another jerk making a lot of money for little work because they have a deal with the town. read more

This garage and the man that owns it charged me miles to pick my car up and then chose to tow my car just about 20 miles out of the way so that he could make an extra buck. While on the phone with him before I realized his over charge, he spoke about how great a small town business he had, how proud he was that he treated people fairly and how in a small town you have to do great business otherwise you could get "blacklisted" from other places. Well Kip, after seeing my bank statement and asking for "fair treatment" and you blatantly "forgetting" our conversation and me for that matter, I truly hope that your business gets what it deserves in a small town like Randolph. I would never go to your garage or use your towing services ever again or refer you to a friend or family member. Think twice about trusting this place. Also, the driver never even called me to confirm the price before charging my card. Bad business all around. read more
