My wife and I just purchased a 97 Miata from Walker just over two weeks ago. I took it in to be looked over by another shop a couple days later to just examine the state of the vehicle and perform any normal maintenance that might need to be done. Upon closer inspection we found that not only did 2 rear brake calipers and 4 brake pads need to be swapped(the rear brakes barely had any pad left), but there were 2 large bends in the frame below. See photos below. Trying to come to terms with this problem, I decided to just pay close attention to the car on the road and to move on. Just 10 days later the car stalls on me and starts making loud knocking noises. I pull over, check the oil (fine) and go home in frustration to deal with getting it towed the next day. Fast forward two days, the car is on a lift, sub-frame removed to inspect the crankshaft and lower parts of the engine and I'm now being told I'm better off buying a new engine. Two weeks in, I'm going to have spent thousands on a car that I've put less than 300 miles on. I understand used cars are used cars, but I figured I'd reach out to see if Walker could offer any assistance given the unfortunate circumstance I'm now placed in. After finally managing to get someone to speak with me, I've been told they'll do nothing because it worked when they had it. I was even told initially that the undercarriage is in good condition. Did they not see the massive problems with the frame? I thought buying a Mazda from a Mazda dealership would imply the vehicle would leave the lot with brakes and last. I've lived all over the U.S. with Volkswagens and this is consistently the best place I have ever had my car(s) serviced. I have the Turbo Diesel Golf which is an unusual car up here due to its lack of availability in Vermont. When looking for a good place to service my car I inquired with other Volkswagen diesel owners in VT and they all said that Walker is the best. I was surprised that a dealer was everyone's top choice but now I know why. Initially I was shocked at the way in which the service people communicated with me. Totally down to earth demeanor with a clear desire to understand what is going with your vehicle. No questions are stupid questions here. These guys are patient like VW Saints. Seriously. You're never made to feel like you're wasting their time. (They're all great guys but Terry is especially fabulous). The other tremendous thing about Walker's service department is the practicality with which they treat the repairs. The outrageous estimates I used to get at other places are consistently countered with more cost-effective solutions at Walker. I love "Erma" (yes I named my Golf) and Walker keeps her driving and thriving. read more

I didn't buy my car here but I had to deal with them concerning an issue I was having with my car. They were pretty unhelpful and LOST MY REGISTRATION. After a miserable experience dealing with this dealership (terrible customer service) and Volkswagen of America I'm selling my VW Rabbit and NEVER buying a volkswagen again. I used to be a die-hard Volkswagen fan but after terrible customer service, thousands of dollars down the drain and VW NOT honoring the 12 year rust warranty (on a 2008 Rabbit with LOW MILES) I'm done. Had a great experience at Walker VW! Moved from CA to VT recently and wanted to get into an AWD SUV. Traded in my 2015 Golf for a new 2016 Tiguan and felt the pressure was low and the negotiation was fair. To make things short, I have spent alot of money there this year in the service dept. I answered the survey they sent me after my service and this was the response that I recieved from their service department manager(this is exact grammar/punctuation): "i think you take your car out on us, it's not our fault you bought this car from midstate, with a ton of problems we have always been nice and explained, things on your car. maybe you should go back to midstate for service" Here was my response: If Walker sends out a survey, prepare to get honest feedback. It is supposed to be for "constructive" criticism and it appears that it was taken personally. I also don't recall saying the service dept wasn't "nice". I don't believe that was a question. To follow up with my survey, it is disappointing that the service department won't ever wait a minute past 5 o'clock to make sure that you pick up your car, get to ask questions in person, let alone a competent person to even give you your keys. Standing around awkwardly waiting to pay for your car repair isn't good customer service, and to top it off, you can't even get change back. A salesman made change for me out of his own wallet. Really professional. I was dissatisfied with this part of the service, so yes, I would say that I didn't feel "appreciated" as a customer, when you know I can't be there at 4:59. A more professioal approach would have been to tell the customer over the phone, when I was scheduling to get picked up that "the service department will be closed" or maybe someone should stay a little bit later, as I wasn't the only customer picking up a vehicle that day, or paying with cash. Not to mention, the "text message" quality email back from the service dept was unprofessional, rude and a grammatical nightmare. The #1 reason I chose Walker, is not because I'm thrilled with the customer service. It is because my husband is deployed and I need a ride to and from to get my car. I almost forgot to mention the scary "courtesy vehicle" driver, with his "pot leaf tattoos" exposed on his arm. I didn't exactly feel safe riding around with that guy, even though he was courteous. When I got to Walker Mazda, Justin Brummert helped me find the car I had seen. I had a quick test drive and I bought the car. It was a pleasant and easy process. Walker didn't sell another brand of car we wanted. When Walker staff heard we were interested in a car at an out-of-state dealer, they said we could buy it from them! Inquired about trading a leased vehicle in early that was not a Volkswagen to buy a Volkswagen. Took one day short of a week to get information from them that it was too early to be done.Poor communication with emails I had to keep emailing them to get any updates. Oh, wow! Can't say enough about how great this place is; how fantastic the sales and service staff are: bought my car here (Rod Cook is a great), and these guys have been super supportive (am new to Vermont, so was unaware of the "snow-impact" effects on the steering). One day, thought something was terribly wrong with the car; these guys knew immediately what it probably was - the snow - then drove it into their service bay and used the high-pressure hose to clean my wheels. I left a review last year when I bought my car and wanted to leave another review today. This dealership is fantastic. I had a late afternoon service appointment and was coming from an hour away. I lost my keys making me 1/2 hour late and called ahead of time to ask if they could still accommodate me. They were gracious enough to do so which was awesome. They have a very friendly service staff, great waiting area and amenities, and in general are just a good place to work with. I definitely recommend them. read more

My wife and I had a terrific experience buying our new family car from Walker VW. We got to interact with every aspect of the operation, from sales, to financing, to the service department, and everyone we worked with was knowledgeable, efficient, and customer-centric. Connor in the sales department was particularly helpful. He listened to what we wanted, let us take a car home for the weekend to really get a feel for it, and, when we settled on the right car, had the service department fix up a few small issues for no additional charge. The worst service ever! Brought in the car with a 2:30 appointment, went to check on it at 3:00 they said, "we're just finishing up, we're really backed up". I went outside and the car was sitting in the same place. How can you blindly lie to a customer? So I brought it back in the next morning like they asked me too and I've been waiting for over an hour at this point, who knows how much longer I'll have to wait. I brought my car to the dealership for a few recalls, I decided to have them inspect the car as well since it would be there already. The car is two years old, they told me the car needed a significant amount work to pass inspection. I took the car to my regular mechanic, passed inspection with NO work necessary. I will never go to Walker again, they must be trying to pay for their new building. read more
