The burgers here sure are hard to beat, with their melted cheese, fresh patties, and toasted soft bund (SOOOOO GOOOD)!!! Their service is right up there too. Friendly, fun and fast which is great when you are there for lunch like we were. I also ordered their chili, and it was great, pairing well with my cheeseburger. Been meaning to try this place for a few years - and finally made it. Overall ans for this type of food...the place is a great little place. A really clean and put together atmosphere. Here's the food rundown: - hot dog: a good tasting dog and prepared with good ingredients. - kraut dog: kraut is fairly mild and not a typical Kraut pop taste. But still a good dog. - Chili: a good version of a chili. Meaty and thicker...a good hearty chili. - Fries: a fresh cut fry, that probably is always good and a good cook. But in this day...maybe the grease was brand new..where they didn't have the right taste of a fresh cut greasy fry. The texture was dry...something was just off. first time visitor last week and I ordered a coney and fries to go. The service was friendly and quick. I was given an option on fries and I chose the hand cut. While well flavored the fries were not as crispy as I personally like. However the dog and chili were so over the top I quickly forgot about the fries. The dog was juicy and flavorful with a great snap. The chili was outstanding in both flavor and texture. I venture to say that it most likely was the best chili dog I've had in Missouri. I was wanting a Philly cheesesteak and Stogeys was the only place in the area open and serving cheesesteaks. It was a really good cheesesteak. Lots of meat and cheese. The meat wasn't dry either. It was also nice that it wasn't loaded up with onions and green peppers. The hand-cut fries lacked flavor. I liked the coleslaw my wife didn't but she liked the potato salad and I didn't. The potato salad was like mashed potatoes with lots of mustard. My wife got the bbq beef sandwich and it was tender and the bbq sauce wasn't overly sweet. food isn't bad but they are pretty pricey. i ordered combos for my kids and i. the food came and the food 3 out of 4 meals didn't have sides because the waitress just assumed we didn't want them? strange, she said she could add it but i was like naw its fine, then the total was pretty shocking, but that's fine, it's been a couple days and i've realized the transaction is about 8-10 dollars more than what was on my receipt? idk if they tipped more or what but i'm trying to get ahold of them to fix this. read more

We took 2 of our teenage sons for dinner tonight. One ordered a double cheeseburger with fries & ask for all dressings ( onion, tomatoes, pickles,etc) to be on the side. They were on his burger. He also ordered fries & got 10 fries. Our other grandson ordered the special, hamburger (ask for dressings to be on side, again they weren't & he had to take off), he got 11 French fries. Mu husband ordered a hamburger & fries (back to 8 fries this time) & I ordered their spaghetti with chili along with garlic toast. Received the spaghetti but no toast. After waiting for an hour for our food, I asked the waitress how much longer it would be. I was not rude and did not cuss. The waitress screamed at me "Fu__it! I'm tired of these "fu__ing assholes". Ripped our ticket down and refused to let us pay for our drinks. The owner didn't care. Didn't apologize or even offer to make it right. It wasn't peak time. There were open tables... no reason for it to take an hour for food except that the cook was out front talking and the waitresses were busy flirting with a table of men. If you want good customer service go elsewhere. They don't care. read more

Best burgers in town and great chili dogs and fries. Joplin has so many chain places so local run owner operated place is a breath of fresh air. I have never had a bad meal there and drive out of my way two hours to get lunch there while traveling from the east coast. I used to enjoy popping in here for a chili dog and some curly fries. The last few times I have went the chili dog wasn't very good, and not very warm either. And today - the curly fries are gone. No onion rings either. There is no longer any reason for me to go back. :( read more

Went there and the workers closed 45 minutes before the time stated on sign. Very ridiculous. Owners would be ecstatic to hear about the staff closing early. We went to go in and as soon as we walked to the door the guy looks right at us and locks the door. It was 8:25 and they close at 830, I get that you close at 830 but at least have the decency to open the door and say "hey, I'm sorry we are closing" I had to look up their hours on here because I didn't see them anywhere. We had our three kids with us and I just can't believe how rude he was, we obviously won't be back. read more

I don't understand the cult following of Stogey's Coney Island. It's not bad by any means, I've had a coney once, and a cheeseburger there a couple of times, and the food was okay. But I wouldn't even call it "really good". If you are a big fan of diner burgers and coneys and suzy q's you might really love it but for me it was just another little burger joint. Bonus points that it's locally owned and the interior is really clean, even though the decor's quite dated. This place is delightfully non-pretentious and seems to appeal to old-timers and blue collar types, so it might be just the ticket for dear old uncle Joe's birthday dinner or something like that. read more

Looking for a greasy spoon with great service and delicious food? This is the place. Outstanding service and a fun atmosphere. The walls are covered in old Coca-Cola and Joplin memorabilia. It is family owned and many of the staff have been working there for years and years. Service is quick, and when you're leaving they will oftnen offer to put your drink in a to-go cup for you to take. Always packed at lunch. My usual is a vanilla Coke, a double chili cheeseburger, and an order of chili cheese fries. Your arteries will hate you afterward, but you will definitely be a satisfied and leave as a happy camper.
