I was in town with my husband and kids. we chose this restaurant due to the amazing reviews and thought it would be kid friendly. Unfortunately we had a HORRIBLE experience due to the shift lead/manager on duty. First our meals all came out at different times. The two kids meals came out after we had ordered 15+ min, then 15+ min later mine, and then 10+ min after that my husband's and other daughter's was how we finally all got food. I will say the rest of my family was pleased with their food. they said it was hot and tasty. However, my burger came out cold. the bun seemed like it had just been pulled out of the fridge, my burger cold and hard, cheese unmelted, and the cast iron dish it came in was room temp. When the worker came to bring my husband and daughter's food I did complain because it was inedible. This person (she claimed.to be the shift lead/manager on duty) immediately got defense that there was no way it was cold, it has been on the grill for 20 min. I told her it was (and with her attitude) I said I wanted a refund. She informed me that it was company policy they did not give refunds, and she could give me loyalty points. I told her I was from out of town and that would not help. At this point she wasn't just being defensive, she was also being just flat out rude and snotty telling me it wasn't her fault. She offered to make me some Mac n cheese instead, and I informed her that I was diabetic thus ordering the burger. I asked her to at least have it remade. She told me NO that it would be the same. I asked for a manager and she informed me she was the shift lead/manager on duty and the only one I could talk to. I asked for the corporate number and she told me they were not corporate. I then asked for the owner, and she said she couldn't give me the number. I admit at that point I was irate. She was defensive, rude, and just out right nasty to me. I want to know what happened to customer service. I have done good service, customer service, sales, and management most of my life. I have never been spoken to/treated so horribly by a restaurant worker none the less a "manager." I finally had enough and stated that if she would do nothing then I would call my bank and have our $70 charge reversed since I did not get actual edible food. She said fine and stomped off. I proceeded to contact my bank. In that time she must have called the owner or a manager above her because I heard her complaining about me to someone on the phone right behind me. She did get me a refund and came over and slammed it on the table next to me staying "here is your refund." She then turned and stomped off without another word to me. Needless to say I will NEVER go to a MacCheesey again ever no matter where I travel. They seem to not care about their customers or how the staff treats them if the owners allow such behavior from their employees and refuse to speak with customers. read more

This is a nice, clean smallish restaurant in a small strip mall that was easy to find and easy to get to. I didn't visit the bathrooms so I'm not sure how clean or well-kept they are. A decent amount of parking, I think there is more parking in back but I didn't confirm. My sister and I came here, we ordered a large drink (self serve, fountain beverage machine) and two small skillets - Burnt Ends Mac for her and the Tikka Masala Mac for me. Both leaned towards the expensive side but the portion size was good. The serving temperature was hot but not scalding, which was nice. Burnt Ends Mac - the title says it all but the burnt ends were well cooked, the BBQ was good and not overly sweet, the Mac and cheese was well-cooked and not overdone. My sister's only complaint was not enough BBQ sauce on the dish (I agreed). Tikka Masala Mac - is a newer dish for them and it was good, my sister and I both preferred it over the burnt ends. Everything I liked about her dish, I liked about mine as well as the one small complaint - the chicken tikka masala had a good aroma and a good flavor but there wasn't enough masala sauce in the dish. The chicken was good, cooked well and a good amount just not quite enough seasoning/masala sauce. The staff was friendly and helpful. Just because we asked and you might be curious because we were, the cast iron skillets they serve the dishes in are washed, rinsed, dried like you would expect any dish to be in a restaurant. So in order to preserve the cast iron they oil it and re-season it after the washing process. Overall a positive experience and we will return. The top was nicely browned under the grill. Where it fell down for me was it just didn't taste very cheesy and I ordered the Shrimp Mac n Cheese. It was really skimpy on the shrimp. My wife got the skillet with bacon and I got the skillet with burnt ends. They added French fried onions like you get on green bean casserole and bbq sauce. Strange but really satisfying comfort food. This isn't fast food but instead was heated up in the skillet. I also had tomato basil soup which I'd pass on... Small pieces of burnt ends, but they were flavorful enough to give it flavor. The pasta was a tad soft for my taste but it was far from mushy. Happened to be in Joplin for an all day event. I browsed the local restaurants and Mac Cheesy looked like something a bit different and had great reviews. When I arrived, I went inside and it reminded me of the small dining areas of many deli or sub shops. I ordered the steak grilled cheese. It arrived at my table about 7-8 mins later. You know how I'm commercials, you always see cheesy things string out with cheese as they pull them apart or bite into them, but when you order those things in real life, it's never like that? Well not here, there was cheese galore. Plenty of cheese, enough steak to have a piece in every bite. Some onions and peppers gave it some extra pizzazz and lastly it has some garlic aioli that just added that extra creaminess and flavor. It was a great sandwich.
