Had to come to Neosho for some errands and googled to find somewhere for breakfast. Charley's was 2nd on the list in Yelp but the 1st looked more like a mexican place and I wanted good 'ol classic American Diner breakfast so we came here. Gotta say, I was NOT disappointed! Waitress was very friendly and both our meals were great. It did take a little longer than I expected for our orders to come out but it also looks like there is only 2 people working this morning and it wasn't like a horribly long time and it all came out hot and delicious so not really a complaint there. If you are looking for that classic local diner type of place, this is the place. We will definitely be back! read more

Single patty hamburger. Prices on menu are subject to change. Menu says $4.49. Actual charge was $5.95 plus tax. Total was over $6.00 plus. They didn't give a receipt. $1.50 increase. Senior citizens on fixed incomes it's best to ask ask for actual price before ordering. It will always be a surprise what they charge unless you ask in advance. Hamburger not worth the cost. Excellent place! We walked in at 1:45 and ordered and THEN noticed they close at 2. The server had already welcomed us warmly and answered all our questions and taken our order as if we were the first table in for lunch (despite the fact they were probably looking forward to heading out.) . This is a greasy spoon (in a good way) diner that's been in Neosho forever. I went with my wife and aging parents. Mom and dad had the spaghetti red (spaghetti covered in chili with onions on top) and they both enjoyed it. May need a bottle of pepto later....but it was delicious. My wife had frito pie - hard to go wrong with that. I had a chili cheese dog with onions and tots. Solid. Waitress, who is an owner, is terrific. read more

Funny story, July 24th about 12pm, after what seemed to be the perfect lunch, the female waitress (she did not have a name tag) STOLE my property, AFTER being tipped. I went on a vacation to see my veteran father , plus more extended family. The cook/manager (I'm not to sure) noticed my bf and I weren't from around and asked the normal out of towner questions with small talk. Our waitress over heard this conversation due to the fact we were the ONLY customers in the building at that time. We ate the best restaurant bought burger I've had in a very long time. All the toppings were portioned perfectly on what seemed to be a hand pattied burger. As well as the flavors being explosive. They didnt have sierra mist, it's no problem I just got the iced tea, wanted a lemon with it. They had no lemon.. We're in the midwest. Wtf.. no lemon ? It's cool I dont mind it was still delicious tea. So we went on to pay with tip, complimented the chef, said thank you to the both of them and go on about our day. We walk out side and see the beautiful historic church right across the street, we ponder on the old timey bell stationed out front. That's when I noticed I had forgotten my E-ciggarette pen that I spent all in all about 80 bucks on in the reaturant on the table I knew exactly where it was. My bf turned straight around to go retrieve it and IT WAS GONE! Mind you , we were the ONLY customers at that point. So it was just me, my bf, the cook, and the waitress. I really wish I got her name. I came in to see what was taking so long and seen the cook and my bf looking in garabage cans and all over the ground for my property. After about 10 minutes of that I asked the waitress to please dump her apron on the table due to the fact I know my property did not grow legs and walk away also we're the only ones in the building. "I don't think so hunny, I wouldnt steal" Me being me I reach for the apron to look inside , she literally almost folded in half and jumped away from almost falling. I put my hands up and was not going to engage further. This is right about when I look to management. "You're employee has stolen my property and I want the law enforcement here now." "She wouldnt steal" is what he responded. The waitress then proceeds to state that she has money in her apron and I need to back up, like I was the thief trying to steal her tips ! After going back and forth to dump out her apron to prove her innocence or call the cops, she walks into the BACK of the kitchen OUT of my line of sight to come out and finally dump her apron out. Of course it was not in there. The manager is blinky rapidly and not sure how to handle this situation as he wants to protect his business name as well as his employee but I do not believe either of them. At this point I know 100% this waitress has stolen my property so I ask again for the law to be called. The police arrive get my statement, takes down information from my bf and I, says their usually really nice people.. like we weren't...? Ok whatever. He goes inside and comes back out 2 minutes later with my property. "It was in the bathroom" the police officer states. I never once used Charleys Grill restroom. The cook/manager and the waitress know very well I did not use their restroom at all we were the only customers at that time. They would have seen me get up and use the restroom. He did not come out and apologize or try to right the wrong at all. (Of course , what theif and their accomplice would) The police officer did NOT ask me if I wanted to press charges. Although I strongly believe if it was the opposite foot and I, the traveler, stole her property there would have been more questioning. Atleast she was smart enough to ditch it and not get caught with it in her possession because I definitely would have pressed charges. Lucky for her I was over the situation and had a plane to catch home in less than 5 hrs at that point I just wanted to leave and never see that waitress again. Of course the unbelievable experience was told to my father, my uncle, his wife my aunt, my cousin and his gf. My family has lived in Neosho, MO for over 20 years and will be telling this story to warn people about the theiving employees here and the fact management did nothing during or after this horrible experience to try and right the wrongs. She deserved to be fired on the spot but I seen no consequences and that was my que to leave and get home before I ended up getting the short end of the stick. read more

Have tried twice because the food was ok but the service was extremely slow the first time. Service was no faster this time, I realize they have to be there the whole time they're open but I have many other things to do. It should not take 45 minutes or more for a quick burger. Second visit they weren't even that busy but it still took forever and was difficult to get drink refills. read more

8:00 am Quiet morning but very steady; Bruce (the owner) is polite and conversational tending to coffee and his regulars while a trendy playlist keeps the mood nice and upbeat. The phones buzzes a man stretches and stares at his woman marking conversation after 10 min of mindless phone use. It is rewarded with food that smells as though Jesus Christ himself blest it 5 seconds ago. I wait while I sip my Colombian coffee with vanilla creamer. Dad and daughter breakfast date begins and my foods almost ready. 8:30am I have finished my food and a flood of people have poured in, this little hole in the wall is packed. The food was delicious and the experience was a feel good comfortable transaction; it may not mean much but I recommend Charley's Grill on 225 S. Stopped by on our way to Camp Barnabas. Wonderful old time grill! The owners were super sweet with all of the customers (locals I'm pretty sure). Here's our story/review. Earlier this year my kids and I decided to find the perfect restaurant to start eating at. The plan was to each order something different and at each restaurant order that same thing then give a rating on whos we liked more. We had a few more places to check out and each week my kids were very eager to hit up the next restaurant. One day we were out on a walk around, the plan was to just walk and later that evening go somewhere. On our way back we saw Charley's Grill and decided why not. The food turned out to be phenomenal, I have been wanting moms home cooking for years and that's just what I got. You just don't get that from name brand chain restaurants. We liked everything we ordered and went again for their breakfast. Ever since then we have given up the search, we have found our perfect restaurant. Eight fried eggs, four sausage patties and a coffee. How much? $13. This is diner food at its best: simple, quick, tasty, no-frills. The coffee is decent. Not burnt or too bitter.
