Unlike other times I have used AAA for towing requests, the business who would be assigned to come to tow me would call, their tower would identify who he was, where he was coming from, and how long it would be before he arrived. The 40 West guy never called to let me know he was on his way, where he was coming from, or how soon it would be before he would arrive. All he brought was attitude. I had borrowed a car from a family member and was at the location within 10 minutes (if not less) after calling AAA ... AAA told me the tow truck would be at the location within 30 minutes -- maybe that is their standard estimated time they use when a tow is requested or maybe the girl I spoke to did not know the correct protocol? I don't know. When I arrived at the facility that had my car, the tow truck was already there. I went inside to pay my bill and get my car key. I was warned by the employee at the location that the 40 West driver appeared to be upset because I was not there when he arrived. I walked out to his truck and apologized for him having to wait and his reply was a smug "whatever" with a shrug of his shoulders. His attitude only went downhill after that. He wanted to know what was wrong with my car and if payment was going to be by cash. I explained my car problem (not that he needed to know) and why I needed it re-towed and I would pay with a credit card. He shrugged again and he added "I was told you were paying with cash." I felt the need to ask if paying with a credit card was going to be an issue. He replied, "No" and what cards he would accept, but his attitude spoke louder than words. He proceeded to move his truck (roll back) and positioned it behind my car. As he backed my car onto the roll back and worked to secure it, another person from the facility where I had my car, came out to quickly speak to me. While I was busy talking with him, the 40 West driver got into the truck and simply left without me. I had no idea where he had gone or which route he took. I quickly got into my borrowed car and drove quickly to the garage where my car was to go, hoping he would be there. Upon arrival, he was there along with his attitude. Other unfortunate issues took place once at the garage (additional charges for mileage that had to be explained and settled), but his attitude and rudeness did not wane toward me or toward the receptionist at the garage. To say he was very unprofessional is an understatement. I have never used 40 West in the past (they were not my choice, but assigned through AAA), and after this experience, it is highly unlikely that I would recommend them. I was already upset about my car having an issue where it had to be re-towed, but to have this guy show up with a MAJOR attitude that continued through the entire time I had to deal with him, did not set well with me, hence the need to post this review.

Picked up the car today and the paint had some specs in it, and they said they would wet sand it to get the specs out while I waited. It didn't work. Eric Zamora offered me $50 or $100 discount so he wouldn't have to paint the whole door again. He said the paint had a "Lifetime" guarantee. I said that's fine, I would pay the full amount. Drove the car home and then noticed that the passenger side side view mirror was melted. Literally the paint and plastic was melted.....!!!! So I called them and drove all the way back to the shop and Eric was already gone for the day, but his worker said that they looked at a picture from the front of the car and said they could see a shadow showing that the sideview mirror looked "wavey" Bull crap!!! He said they took the mirror and the door off the front passenger side to do work on the rear passenger side, and that they only put the sideview mirror in the car and that it couldn't have gotten damaged.... I said there is NO WAY that my sideview mirror could get MELTED on the top of it while it was on my car. The plastic and paint are literally melted!!! Car is in great condition except the door that had to be repaired. Now they are saying that the MELTED sideview mirror must have already been like that. No pictures of the sideview mirror damage prior to doing the work. They melted the sideview mirror at the shop. Don't know how or who, but it wasn't melted when I dropped it off....... Every place I have ever been too takes detailed pictures of a car to make sure that this exact thing doesn't happen!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP. BEWARE. Dishonest. Go somewhere else.....

And to boot, they do work that no one else would touch. For me, that included a complete rebuild of my 2006 transmission in 2024 in their shop. Yes it was costly but it was not a remanufactured tranny and extended the life of my car. If the engine goes, I'll likely return for an engine rebuild rather than a remanufactured engine. On another day, some basic work that should be simple and easy they seem capable of completely missing the mark. Couple this with their reliance on Metro Motor.com and their BG maintenance recommendations and you have what feels like a very hard sell to get your money. The BG recommendations are like a laundry list of what you MIGHT do to your auto if you had unlimited funds and just wanted to spend freely. There seems to be no rnyme or reason to the recommendations either in milage or elapased time. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind paying premiusm prices (which Ken's is) for premium work. That's the issue. I feel like it's sometimes worth it and other times not. I've reached the consclusion that they will get my more difficult jobs but routine maintenance will be handled elsewhere. I wonder if over time they have changed ownership or have new sales incentives in place. It's a shame. I really want them to be like The Car Talk guys from Boston and only do what's right.

He then said, "Well, I don't think you'll be able to do it," which felt unnecessary and dismissive. He handed me paperwork to sign with little to no explanation, didn't return my key until I asked for it, and overall made the experience uncomfortable. I walked to my car and started it without any issue. It's disappointing because David provided excellent customer service, and good auto service can be hard to find. However, my interaction with the owner would make me hesitant to return, aside from the required monthly appointments for the device. I hope the owner considers improving customer communication and professionalism, as it would make a big difference in the overall customer experience.

I'm from MA and was in Frederick on business…read morefor a few months (I was hit about 2 weeks prior to heading down to MD) so I decided to wait to have my repairs in Frederick. I did a little bit of research on Google and the business seemed legit. Kevin, the owner, responded to my request and I was able to get my car in for a right front panel repair and also a bumper repair. Unfortunately, I was rear ended a month prior to this accident so my repairs were similar other than the front drivers side panel. That repair took 4 days. Anyway, I dropped my car off here on a Monday and was told it would most likely be repaired on Friday unless other issues were found. Of course, I was told they had to replace the entire rear bumper. Rather than bore you with all the details, I'll just make it brief. My car was in the shop for 18 days for this repair. Communication while it was in the shop was non-existent for the most part. Tons of excuses! When I picked it up the car was overheating and pouring out coolant like crazy. I had to have it towed back to the shop as its apparent something happened here. They paid for the cost to have it repaired which was an air bubble in the coolant system supposedly. After I picked it up again it still needed a cohesive put on the front drivers panel and an alignment, which was covered by insurance. It took 3 weeks for them to get back to me to bring it back in yet again. Typically, this would be a same day job. With Frederick, I knew I wouldn't be getting my car back the same day. Needless to say, this is the worst experience I've ever had with an automotive business in my entire life. I had to constantly stop by the shop to check on the status of my car, communication was absolute shit, and the turnaround time was an absolute joke. On top of that, now I'm having issues with my spoiler. I can't prove this is because of Frederick Auto Body, but the timing seems odd. Anyway, I'll get that looked at by a mechanic when I return to MA. I've seen some 1 star Google reviews where Kevin denies working on these cars. I had a similar issue with a used car salesman back in the day where I bought a Maserati and it was basically a lemon. Like consumers are confused where they made a major purchase? Really?! My son hit a deer in his Elantra the night before Thanksgiving and ended up with significant front…read moreend damage. It would need a new hood, front end, and driver's side quarter panel and headlight fixture. I reached out to local friends on FB and several recommended Flick's Collision in Lisbon. I live only two miles from the shop so it was a convenient option. I called Flick's on Monday and spoke with the owner, Gene, and he told me to bring the car in. He gave me an estimated time line of about a month or so, which he said was due to the shop's current volume (deer rutting season) and what it takes to deal with insurance companies. After that, by and large, the shop handled all communications with the insurance company, including the supplemental parts lists, etc. I hadn't had a car in a body shop in 30+ years and it was eye opening to see that the Allstate claim payment actually included a list of used and aftermarket parts for the shop to buy (I naively thought that it was the collision shops that identified and sourced the necessary parts). The repair ended up taking 5 weeks to complete. Given the Christmas holiday and some difficulty obtaining parts from Allstate's sources, that didn't upset me. When my son and I went to pick up the car, while the paint work was very good, I wasn't quite happy with the fit of the replacement hood. Gene came out to the car with us and explained that aftermarket parts don't always fit like OEM parts. I could tell what he was saying was true because the contour of the aftermarket hood did not perfectly match the contour of the quarter panels so there was no way it could be made perfect. After discussing for a while though, Gene said that he would try replacing the driver's side hood hinge and see if that would help. He said he would call me when the hinge came in. A few days later he did call and we brought the car back in. The next day the car was done and we went to get it. It looked much better. Gene explained that he made adjustments to multiple parts. I give this shop 5 stars because Gene could have simply said that the original repair was as good as they could do, but he didn't. He stepped up to make sure I was satisfied. And I believe that at least the extra labor needed was at his own expense, which I greatly appreciate. Integrity and good customer service seem to be in short supply these days, but not at Flick's. Was my experience with Flick's perfect, no, but Gene genuinely wanted to make sure I was satisfied and did his best to make it happen, and that absolutely matters. Thanks, Gene!
