In a city heavily populated by all the cider & beer one can stand, Marked Tree Asheville is a great stop off the beaten path. Located 1block off Biltmore Street, Marked Tree strikes a great balance of urban feels & southern comfort. Lovely atmosphere with a great jazzy/uptempo playlist. Super knowledgeable & engaging staff. And a lovely selection of wines that can be appreciated even after your best Biltmore tour. It was a very nice last stop for my Asheville weekend & I look forward to returning on future trips! Pro Tip: Do the tasting & ask for the stories behind the labels, especially Rose Gold Ellie Mae.

This place is a hidden gem. The wine was amazing but the sommelier was fantastic. Rachael was knowledgeable about the wines but also the area. We had an enjoyable afternoon with her and got to taste amazing wines. Like we said to her it is a big step up from our Boone's Farm days. If you are in Asheville make sure to stop by and try the wines and enjoy the conversation.

We came in for a birthday celebration, and we felt treated like princesses! We did the wine and chocolate pairing. The chocolate was from chocolate fetish, and they were all delicious! Overall, we had samples of five different wines. The rosé and the sparkling wine were our favorites. The location is easy to get in and out of since there's a parking deck right next-door.

Came in for a bottle of sparkling wine. Very cute small tasting room downtown. Apparently the vineyard is about 30 minutes from downtown and looks absolutely beautiful. We had the Bud bottle, it was great. Service was great as well!

We chose to do the wine and chocolate pairing experience which was a partnership with chocolate fetish, also in Asheville.

We technically arrived 10 minutes before they opened and just soaked up the views. Finally we meandered inside. Point Lookout Vineyards is the winery, but Top of the World is the meadery. John selected 5 wines & 1 mead for a flight & i went 5 meads with one wine as my flight. We grabbed a glass of water & picked out our seat. We also spring for a 10 inch pepperoni pizza since it was lunch time. 1st- skip the pizza. IMO it didn't match the caliber of the experience in its entirety. Too much like a tostinos frozen pizza. The wine and meads were stellar. I started with Sweet Carolina Girl, a mid- sweet blended red that was bold in flavor, with that rich fruit. Very luscious. Next up, the Orange Blossom Mead, exactly as expected. Velvety mouth feel, bright flavor. The Beguile was next, a raspberry mead- at first sip, I was hesitant to like it. I went around the tasting and came back and liked it much more after the second sip. The Masala surprised me, a Chai tea mead, I'm not usually a fan of Chai tea but I was intrigued by the description. The clove and ginger with the cardamom was delightful. Mimi's Apple Pie was also very yummy, I honestly stay away from most "apple pie" flavors, because it usually never does it justice. This was an exception. Finishing this mead in bourbon barrels sealed the deal. Last & not at all the least was Sting, the classic orange blossom mead fermented with juniper berries, finished in a gin barrel. Startling on the palette. A very unique flavor profile for mead & I loved it! Overall, I absolutely loved my experience! We bought 3 bottles! Sting Mead, the Masala Chai Tea Mead & the Sweet Carolina Girl wine.

We learned a lot about this bicentennial farm (in the same family for over 200 years). Ken is 7th generation and shared memories of earlier generations. We also learned about grape varieties and their growing conditions and what a year at the vineyard looks like. Beautifully maintained and buildings are new and in great shape. Recovered from Hurricane Helen (9/24). We finished in time to hear live music and enjoy a few more glasses of wine with our new friends from the tour. Pavilion provides beautiful views, comfortable seating, ceiling fans and walls of curtains that keep out rain and cold. Dog friendly, but guests must be 21 and older. Children are not welcomed. There was live music and a lot of shaded patio seating as well as lawn seating. We were able to wander through the vineyards if we wanted. They had plenty of single stall gender neutral restrooms too. We got a large table in the patio and got two white wines and a rose. Our table really liked the rose. We had a lovely time at this vineyard. I thought it was such a lovely touch that they gave me chocolate truffles too! Our wine bus coordinator took care of ordering, but the staff seemed really kind.

The shop is filled with home goods, ornaments and Biltmore related items but the whole atmosphere came off as quite pretentious to me and the prices reflected that. I did find an adorable little plushie gargoyle that I thought my niece would love but based on my overall experience, I decided against spending any of my hard-earned money here. The staff was technically welcoming but not in a warm or genuine way. I felt like I was being more closely observed than assisted and the older, stiffer employees created an uncomfortable environment. After looking around upstairs, I came down and started perusing the shelves but as soon as I looked up from what I was doing and a staff member saw me she said " your husband is in the restroom". I don't know if that comes off as weird in writing as it felt in person. I didn't ask where my husband was and I wasn't looking for him. I don't know if it was because he was the only non-white person I saw while we were there, but it didn't give the feeling that they were trying to be helpful. The shop is somewhat visually appealing but overpriced overall and definitely lacking the warmth that would make it a place I would ever return to.
