And not only does Carey deliver killer quality food- she really works to theme her buffets to match your look/ decor- at no extra charge. She was able to plan out a great few appetizers that could be delivered to our party that were easy to self-serve and fit our budget. Formerly Carey's Catering, we had her for our wedding reception at the in-laws' backyard. We were going to have ~100 people, and it would be around $80/head. This was less than other people, and we liked her style. It was all about the food for us (me). She took care of the tables/chairs, and we took care of the tents/site. We had them grill up some kebabs and rice in the middle-eastern tradition, and it was amazing. They dropped my one small tray of plain rice on the way over, but they had the wild rice. No big deal. They let us do whatever we wanted for decorations. Carey is really accommodating to whatever you feel you'd like. Want to make your own centerpieces of herbs and succulents in pots? Sure. Want to make your own menu/give her recipes? She can cook anything. Want to buy your own flatware for 120 people instead of renting because it's cheaper? Whatevs. She makes a point to use locally-grown produce during seasons that that is possible, which is awesome. We had sauteed baby carrots (real ones) and snow peas from a local garden. We did it buffet-style to save a little on the labor costs, and the buffet tables were nice, if not a little over the top. The kebabs were awesome; not overcooked, which is key. Better than some middle-eastern restaurants in Denver. She even made all-meat kebabs at my request. The salmon, I was told (I'm allergic to that species, but I'd rather have kebabs anyway), was pretty good too. And she came in under budget. read more

We planned our CO wedding from out of state and Carey and her team couldn't have made it a better experience. From the planning process to the day of everything was perfect. The staff did an incredible job of setting up a beautiful display and were very helpful throughout our entire event. I can't say enough good things about Carey and Stone Creek Catering! From the first tasting, to the actual day of the wedding, she was perfect! She worked within my budget, and together we came up with the perfect cocktail hour snacks, and a DELICIOUS reception dinner!! We got so many compliments on the food; I expected it to be great, but it really did surpass my expectations. My wife and I chose Stone Creek Catering / Carey's Special Events & Cater of Daven Haven Lodge, to be the caterer for our wedding at the end of July 2010. After our experience, I do not recommend their services for a large number of reasons. To summarize these reasons, I would say that there was a lack of communication, lack of professionalism, and an overall bad attitude on their part. I'm not one to write reviews(especially negative ones) and I don't want this to seem slanderous in any way but want to be honest in what we experienced. We had many great vendors involved with our wedding which I have listed below this review and highly recommend our other vendors. Overall, our wedding was incredible but that was no way due to the service provided by Stone Creek Catering. To be more specific, here are some of the details of their poor service: Lack of Communication - They struggled to correspond by phone or email in a prompt manner. - After we had expressed a budget of $7-8,000 and not hearing that there were any issues, she waited until three weeks prior to the wedding to tell us that it was going to be $13,000! With three weeks' notice, we had no chance of finding a different caterer. - The forgot or didn't follow many of the plans that were discussed and written in our contract. Lack of Professionalism (these are items which we experienced directly and other friends and family members told us after the wedding) - Following our wedding ceremony, they were not ready with drinks or appetizer service as was promised. - We had agreed that they would make pitchers of Mojitos beforehand to help keep the service smooth. They hadn't made any premade pitchers. - They used our coolers and tubs for the bars. We were told that they would provide tubs for beer/drinks, as well as ice and we were paying for this. Then she complained to us, during the wedding, that she had to go out and get ice. - There was supposed to be tea and lemonade served. Tea and lemonade was not served. - We had agreed on having flank steak and tilapia. They served London Broil and Tilapia - The buffet was supposed to be a 2-sided buffet to get people served faster. This was discussed and agreed on. They served a 1-sided buffet. - No wine service. We paid for wine glasses on the table and bought a lot of wine for Stone Creek Catering to provide wine service. They did not. - The dinner was very slow. The service was poor as well as rude. - They were stingy on serving our dessert (that was made by Abby's Uncle). Poor Attitude - Carey told Abby's (Bride) Grandmother (on the wedding day) that she has "had problems working with Abby." This was upsetting to Abby's grandmother and extremely disrespectful to her clients. - Everyone at our wedding got along great and it was commented that there was not a bad guest in the whole bunch. Except that Carey managed to upset and frustrate a large number of our guests with her poor attitude and rude comments. The other people involved with Stone Creek Catering were pleasant to work with although they seemed unprepared or uncertain of their responsibilities. Overall, it was NOT an enjoyable experience working with Stone Creek Catering. Our caterer (Sagebrush Restaurant) for the rehearsal dinner the night before was great to work with both on planning and service. But the lack of planning, communication, and professionalism made our experience with Stone Creek Catering the only aspect of our wedding that was disappointing.
