The owners accommodated our late checkin, which we really appreciated. The locations can not be beat! A clean hotel with lots of charm.

There are normally several food trucks that surround the Barrel which gives you a lot of food choices. Inside reminds me of the old town bars with wooden tables and a floor that is covered with saw dust. You can bring your food inside and then imbibe on great selection of adult beverages they have to enjoy your food with. Dog water bowls are provided throughout the establishment if your pups thirsty add well. Fun place to stop and fill your tank!

Our kids (14 & 12) are experienced pool players; we typically play together as a family or let them play a game on their own while we enjoy a few rounds. We've been in 4 times this week alone and were welcomed every time. Today, we were abruptly told they couldn't play due to a 16+ rule by a young bartender who has always allowed us to play. He mentioned that the owner doesn't like kids playing and there is a sign. While there is a sign posted behind the wall and not clearly marked, it has been completely ignored by staff and other families for the years we've been coming here, and certainly wasn't mentioned during our other visits this week. Even today, it seemed to be selectively enforced. If a family is respectful, knows how to use the equipment properly, and has been welcomed all week, there should be some common sense and hospitality applied--especially for repeat customers. To allow it for days and then suddenly change the rules on our 5th visit is just poor hospitality and frankly feels slightly discriminatory.

The lodge itself is unbelievable - it is luxurious yet homey at the same time, and makes for a wonderful mountain getaway for you and your guests. Vicky, the lodge manager, was so helpful with everything from accommodating for off-hours check-ins, any and all room needs, and of course, cooking delicious handmade breakfast every morning! Kathy, the event coordinator, was just awesome to work with. She truly made the wedding planning process easier and less stressful. She was communicative, detail oriented, and always willing to hop on a call or set up a meeting for wedding planning details. Her expertise in this field really came to light throughout our wedding planning process, and it was very much appreciated. The Twin Owls Steakhouse staff was professional and helpful, and the food is amazing! We got so many compliments on our wedding food Sandra, the owner, made my husband and I feel so comforted from the get go. It's clear that she cares deeply about her guests' experiences, and will do everything she can to make your stay, your event, or whatever it is exactly what you had imagined! I am surprised that I have yet to write a review for the Estes Valley Community Center. During the…read moreCOVID pandemic, we visited often while I was working remotely because they had implemented appropriate measures early on. Today (June 2024), that's obviously is not an issue, but it meant a lot that they would work so hard to stay open during such a challenging time for community recreation centers. I have only spent time at the leisure pool, so I can't speak directly to the rest of the facilities. The leisure pool is excellent. Both the water and the pool deck are warm, which is a great feature for young ones. The family locker rooms are clean and there are 3 private shower rooms for young children. The leisure pool has a small slide for children under 4, water cannons, waterfall buckets, a lazy river, a water slide, and a hot tub. We have been able to visit both as guests of a local resident and as non-residents. Obviously the non-resident day pass is more expensive, but I would say it's reasonable, especially for a place where kids can easily spend 2-4 hours and get a nice warm shower.

First thing after they opened on a Monday, I came in to PAY for a shower and was greeted by a…read more"resting bitch face" front-desk person. After PAYING and given directions to the men's locker room, the following brief exchange occurred. M = me; RBF = "resting bitch face" front-desk person M: "Do you have family showers as well?" RBF: "Ugh... There are shower stalls with curtains in there [the men's locker room] for privacy. Family showers are only for our guests." (replied with an annoyance and attitude; the built-in "resting bitch face" didn't help) M: "So you do have them [family showers]?" RBF: "Yes..." (a reluctant response, again with attitude) OK, a few points on that, and I'm about to apply some "logic" so it may not be comprehendible to these numbskulls: 1. Apparently, the policy here is that a single person entering the facility is strictly forbidden from inquiring about any family-related offerings, because the individual is automatically assumed to not have a family who can be brought in the next time. Kind of judgy, no? I thought Colorado fervently supported a little something called "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion"--in which no one should be at first classified or treated based on how they looked. 2. It was probably just an unfortunate/unintentional slip that RBF affirmed the family showers for true "guests" (implying I wasn't one). However, the following rebuttal would be to teach RBF that she should really learn to STFU first and think carefully, then speaking. So, if it was acceptable for you to degrade people paying for showers not as guests, then correspondingly it would also be acceptable for me to personally consider you, RBF, as deserving to be harshly slapped every time you blurbed out something idiotic. With MY BELIEF in mind, everyone, you could come in and confront this moron on early Monday mornings. 3. I didn't pay $1, $2 (like at the Windsor Community Recreation Center) or even $4. I paid 6 damn dollars just to take a shower, so I'd be choosing whichever fucking shower I wanted, as long as I didn't start using any other features of the facility. Also, no families were there at that time (and, in fact, at many other centers around the country I'd visited, even when families were present I could just use the family rooms without the staff getting their panties in a bunch like RBF here). And what if somebody actually needed even more privacy? It could be that guest was inflicted with some kind of extreme "social anxiety disorder" (or something similar as how those lazy, victim-mindset bullshitters claimed nowadays). 4. Who kept hiring these entitled, disrespectful turds and never training them on proper customer service? Remember that I, A PAYING CUSTOMER, was THE REASON YOU HAD A JOB. In this case, it also meant I was a "guest," stupid. It wasn't like I randomly walked in off of the street and begged to use your showers for free. 5. And a final point: did these pompous Estes Valley Community Center retards think that theirs was the only, unique one in all of America? Because if that was the case, you could be standing right there, hurling insults and making fun of my penis while I showered, and I'd simply accept it. But you're not--I know because it's not like (as stated) I haven't taken showed at numerous community centers across the country or anything. Now, all that gracious smart knowledge and reasoning wouldn't have needed if the brief exchange had gone like this: FF = friendly face front desk person M: "Do you have family showers as well?" FF: "Yes, and those are reserved for arriving families only. But thank you for choosing to use our facility today." (normal, friendly response) M: "Sounds good."

Google does…read morenot give the correct directions - when we followed them, we ended up in a random parking lot a block over. I recommend setting the GPS to the brewery rather than the truck. When we visited on Sunday after hiking at RMNP for the morning, there wasn't much of a crowd here. We ordered and the the food only took about 8 minutes to arrive. Meeker Margherita ($21) - Perfectly cooked crust in this pizza. The cornicione in particular is expertly risen and cooked, giving plenty of charred bubbles and the perfect chewiness. The undercarriage, while floppy, isn't soggy at all. It hold up very well to the ingredients on top. The crust is first slathered sparingly with tomato sauce. The sauce is reduced quite a bit and tastes almost like a concentrated tomato paste. They don't use a lot so it doesn't soak into the crust at all. On top, there's a couple of pieces of basil giving a very noticeably fresh aroma. There's plenty of melted mozzarella cheese, which seem to be of the pearl variety, mild tasting and stretchy. They apparently also drizzle some EVOO, although there's no particular peppery or fruity notes, or heck any real olive oil flavor at all. With how well all the other ingredients worked together, the olive oil is very disappointing. Still, it's a very well constructed pizza. (5/5) Panorama Peak ($23) - Again, this pizza has the perfect crust. Instead of tomato sauce, it's slathered with ricotta cheese, making the pizza very rich and creamy. More melted mozzarella on top of that for even more fatty richness, then pieces of proscuitto, chewy and salty. The meat isn't sliced that well so it's messy to eat. They then essentially cover the pizza with an arugula, tomato, and shaved parmesan salad. The arugula is super peppery and bitter, the tomatoes are fresh and sweet, and the parmesan adds more saltiness. The main sources of salt are the parmesan and the proscuitto. Neither are added in large enough quantities to make the pie overly salty. Mixed in the with the arugula are a couple of stems of cilantro for some reason. Nothing on the menu actually uses cilantro so I'm a bit confused where it comes from. It's essentially a salad on pizza dough so everything falls off the crust very easily making it messy to eat. (4/5) I'm very impressed with the food served at Mangia Mangia. I didn't expect to find such great pizza in a small touristy mountain town. I'll be back next time I'm in the area!
