After two years of not having service being forced to pay a deposit.... Left my account in 100%…read moregood standing with no payment history issues. Infuriating.

I have been with OG&E for many years but I am confused as to why my electric bill last month was…read morealmost $80 higher than my bill for this month. So of course I check my detailed bill and observe the bar graph provided which informs me that the watts we used in Jan. were actually higher than our use for the month of Aug. and almost as high as the month of July. Now I'm even more confused because in July and Aug. we used an electric HVAC unit and a window unit and we also run pool filters, outdoor lights, etc. In Jan. we use none of those. We have super efficient insulation and 100% of the heat for our home is Natural Gas FIREPLACES. So of course I called #OGE to express my concerns. The first guy (Christopher) assured me that I'm mistaken and that I should understand that as the weather gets colder, I should expect my bill to increase because I am using more heat. After explaining that I have no electric heat he was still confident and informed me "our numbers are not wrong" and then advised me to formally request a meter inspection in writing and to send an additional $75 to pay for the inspection. I requested to speak to a supervisor but that still has not happened. So...five days later (today) I called #OGE again and went through the same process. This time Kay condescendingly explained that my bill is spiking on the cold days because I am using more heat. Again I explain that I have NO ELECTRIC HEAT. Weather should not be a factor here. Doesn't make a dent. I explained that my Jan. 2017 bill was $80 less than my Jan. 2018 bill. I explained that it has been just as cold in Feb. and my bill was almost $80 less than Jan. So she provided me with a website where I could view our usage each day. I requested a supervisor again and was given a call back from Natasha. Her explanation was that it is directly related to the weather and pointed out the correlation on the graph. I explained to her that I do not have electric heat. She then wanted to know what my thermostat was set to and recommended that I set it to 68 degrees. I explained again that I have gas heat. She said "well even gas heaters use some electricity". I explained again... "I HAVE GAS FIREPLACES." They do not use ANY electricity whatsoever. The weather should not be a factor. She then arrived at the conclusion that "cold weather makes your refrigerator and your other appliances like your washer and dryer, work harder." Our daily average temp for my Jan bill was 36 degrees. Our daily average temp for my Feb. bill was 39 degrees. Apparently those three degrees changed my bill approximately $80. They really do think I am that stupid. I explained to Natasha that I am not upset because my bill was "high". I have had higher bills in years past. I am not trying to get out of paying my bill. My bill has already been paid in full. I am simply concerned with the inconsistencies and I would hope that as my provider #OGE would be honest and acknowledge that something is peculiar about this unexplained spike. She refused to even momentarily contemplate that there may be something wrong or offer any explanation other than the weather. She also informed me that she had no supervisor who would speak with me. She was the end of the line.... as high as it goes. If this is true then I am left with no option other than to alert everyone I can on every social media platform I am a member of and on every online service review site I can find, to CHECK and then DOUBLE CHECK their OG&E usage and billing. If you have ANY other option then don't use OG&E or ANY company that refuses to explain HOW and WHAT you are being billed for. SO unprofessional!
