Yesterday was my very first time going golfing and I was brought here. I didn't know what to expect besides huge dinosaur figures towering over plastic bridges like I see in mini-golf, but this was a real golf range. I liked how there was two separate areas to do long-range shots, and then there was a 9-hole 3 par section. A huge bucket of balls was about 11 bucks or so and my friend brought his clubs and putters, so we were set to go. The grass was very clean and well maintained; there were employees tending to the surrounding areas as we were going about our game. The only downer to this review is that I wish I knew to wear rain-proof shoes as water from the grass got all of our shoes and socks soaked. But that's more on our part. So really, I need to visit this place again and follow up with a second review, as well as compare it to other places as I continue to grow and get better than Tiger Woods. But all the staff were very friendly and sweet (important to note that we were there at an early 745AM!) Another note that could keep this review to be 4 stars is that they only accept cash, which could be a future inconvenience for me. But I am excited and definitely looking forward to my next game at Stone Meadow Golf and I recommend this place for all beginner golfers. Very easy to get to from Route 2, which is convenient for all you folks who live in the Cambridge/Allston/Somerville/etc areas! read more

Needed a refresher course on my mechanics and advice on improving my swing. George Liss is a really cool guy and great instructor. I scheduled for an hour long lesson at 8AM on a Thursday right before work. I really liked the way he broke down the swing into parts and explained how my arms should be forming a letter. They have a separate area for golf lessons with a canopy so rain shouldn't be an issue. Make sure you bring a change of clothing if you are going to work afterward. You'll be breaking a sweat with all the swings he has you do. Another note: Make sure to bring cash. They do not take credit cards. read more

Driving range August 2020. Absolutely no social distancing. People are about 2-3 feet apart. Very few people wearing masks. They should have every other mat closed. Also the balls and mats are crap quality. And they still only take cash, so they can cheat on taxes, no other reason these days. These other recent reviews are obviously fake. Golfing just ain't cheap, especially in the Boston area and Stone Meadow is the most reasonable course/range that I can find in the Boston area that is not waaaaay out of the way. Outdoors driving range is minimalistic but gets the job done. Beware of a beautiful day on a weekend because it is PACKED with either very good players with 15 bajillion different clubs who make you feel inferior or uncouth whackers that make you feel much better. Always interesting to try to hit the cart that picks up the balls in the driving range :P Cute little kiddy range, cheapest balls for for 10 cents each at $12 for 120 balls. Nothing better than working on your swing on the way home after a long days work. Apparently everyone who works in the 20 mile radius thinks so too as this place gets pretty packed around 5-6. The buckets are very reasonably priced ($8 for a large) and the range itself is beautiful. The range is surrounded by trees and has real grass. The synthetic hitting stations don't have a barrier in between them which makes me a bit weary when beginners whack balls that go flying horizontally. The grass stations are pretty good but look as if they've had alot of use. The course was short as a previous review said and I played it through in about 45 min. The greens weren't in the best shape but for $10 I won't complain. Stone Meadow is a good place that I find myself itching to go to more and more often. read more

The pitch and putt is really interesting to practice your short game. Its greens are always in excellent conditions. You truly only need your PW and SW to play it (maybe a 9 for more chipping options). Prices are very cheap at this place including the driving range, which is quite unusual so close to Boston. Take advantage of the discount cards (one can be used for the pitch and putt)! I also enjoy they are open late in the summer. Management is very friendly especially Joe! read more

I go here a lot to work on my swing. I mainly hit up the driving range, but I've played the par 3 once and it was a great time (it definitely made me work my short game, which is what I need). The driving range is pretty standard, but the only covered area is only open to folks getting a lesson. I actually hit up the natural grass area as much as I can, and it's kept up pretty well, so no complaints there. The only negative I can think of is that over on the natural grass area, you're way over on the side, so you don't have accurate distance markers. Also beware of beautiful days after work, this place gets PACKED. read more

I'll admit I really don't know of any par 3 courses that are quite so... short... but for 9 holes (anywhere from approx. 50-90 yards each) it really is a lot of fun. You can play the course in probably about 45 minutes or so, and it costs 10 bucks. They have a putting green you can use while-u-wait. The range is often busy, both on the mats and the grass, so it's best to choose your time wisely. I've been early in the AM a few times, and it's nice around then. They sell gloves, do club regripping, and I believe you can get lessons there as well. Another great find this month. For a small fee you can hit balls all day - totally plenty of space on a Saturday afternoon. Clubs you can use for free too! Great putting area as well. Easy parking. The tees were a little tall which was a struggle for me but the pros seemed fine with it. VERY FRIENDLY staff too!! Going back today! read more

I really enjoy the pitch and putt course but I have had a bad experience with the help recently. They told me they were working on the course and it wouldn't be open until noon. (it was 11:45) When I was walking out to my car, I noticed one greens keeper looking at the holes on the practice green, but it appeared he had completed his work on the course. However the old man said it wasn't open til noon, so we left. Another night they didn't let us go out at 6pm because they said it was going to be dark in a few minutes. However, when I was sitting on my back porch at 7pm it still wasn't dark. It takes about 40 minutes to complete all 9 holes, which aren't very long, especially at dusk. So it appears that this golf course is making so much money that they are willing to turn away customers, which is too bad because like i said before i really enjoy the pitch and putt read more

Great range, can get a little busy on the weekend, but you can usually find a mat within 5 minutes. Good balls, clubs are free to rent, and a nice facility. I usually go here a few times a week, the general manager even said hello and comp'd me a bucket once read more

The first time I came here and ordered a large bucket, I was stunned. For such a low price, verily, my bucket runneth over. It was huge. And you can even top off said bucket before you hit the range for free Yeah! The mats or the ground under them seemed definitely uneven, and I noticed that my swing was way off than normal. Maybe it was because I wasn't used to the place. Maybe it was because I was surrounded by people: the ones waiting for you to be done; the ones on either side of you. The divisions between tees seemed really really narrow, and I swear there were a couple of times I felt like I was going to get beaned by a neighboring club. Maybe I was undercompensating on my own swing as well. And more people: the parking lot is narrow and crowded, and you with have vultures lurking impatiently as you load your clubs back into your car. What's nice is that you feel like you're outdoors on the course. And did I mention it's really cheap? If it was closer to me, it could have been a somewhat frequent destination. read more

I used to be a bigger fan of this place. They raised their rates from 10 bucks to 12 for the par 3 course. Which I guess is still reasonable... but after 4 or 5 at some 18 hole real courses in the area, their rates are 12 (Ponkapoag and Newton Comm is around 20) for six to eight dollars more I'd MUCH rather play a real course and get a few hours of enjoyment as opposed to 40 minutes. Not having an off peak rate kind of puts the pricing at a disadvantage. Also, the guys that run the place get grumpier than they used to. Doesn't leave a great taste in your mouth. All in all the place is decent, the range is good (though right now they don't have actual grass to hit from as they did last summer) and the prices for their buckets of balls are competitive. If you're just learning the game, the par 3 is the place to go. The putting and chipping green is really great, but that used to be included in the par 3 price, apparently now it isn't? The overall value is good for a quick trip, but it does get crazy busy during what you'd expect as peak hours. read more

Too bad the season's over. I love taking out my frustration at the local dating scene on a jumbo bucket here! Also, I improved my short game substantially by using the course to practice. You can get a custom set of clubs made here for a very reasonable amount ($800) and the pro has been featured several time in golf digest and other mags. I promise to keep my left arm and leg straight Joe :) Very well run and easy to get to off of Rt.2, even have night time practice with lights. Busy on the weekends so if you want shade in the summer come early or you may be relegated to the tees that have no shade. read more

They just lie about what they have. They don't have grass tees. Website sure says they do, but they don't. Pretty frustrating to drive there and have their website just be a total misrepresentation of their business. The mats are garbage. The balls are in very poor condition for a range. No cards. I've been here 3-4 times a week since I started playing golf, during which I've hit dozens of buckets of balls, played the par 3 course at least 6 times, and have gotten lessons from multiple on-site coaches; long story short, I feel well equipped to have an opinion on Stone Meadow. The short version- great place. Despite being quite popular with the locals they have enough driving mats that I've never had to wait to hit a bucket of balls. The par 3 course is great for short game practice and well maintained. The coaching staff is knowledgeable and well worth the money- George, the coaching director, is definitely the best of the lot- he's got a busy schedule but it's well worth waiting for a spot with him. Finally, the pricing of the whole place is very reasonable- of particular value to regulars is their buy-10 ticket that gets you 10 large buckets of balls for only $8.50 each, or the medium at 10 buckets for $5 each. Like I said, great place that is an excellent spot to come by and practice regularly. read more

Who doesn't love a little golf! While my golf game is somewhere in between terrible and mediocore, Stone Meadow Golf is a great place to practice. They are mostly a driving range with a small chip and putt course. You can get a bucket of 120 balls for under $15. I used to love coming to this place when it had grass to hit from and employees who were happy to see you. Now I fear the turf damage to my clubs, the diseased greens on the pitch and putt and the embittered old men who run this establishment. Angry with the fact that they can no longer play golf, they just look for reasons to accost other, more virulent golfers. I was verbally attacked by one of the managers after asking to speak with the owner about their "no use of the putting green without paying for it policy" - So you can hit off the synthetic turn for $13 bucks but you have to pay an extra $5 to use the putting green. Golf balls are garbage and the staff are not friendly and rude. A man picked up a golf ball that was 5ft in front of him with no one around so his young child could hit one last ball. A woman comes out yelling at the gentleman, takes the ball from him, and chucks it on to the range... all in front of his son. Absolute range nazis. read more

The problem I have with this place is that even if you're paying for the range, you can't use the putting green. You can only use it if you're playing the par 3 course. I think you can pay extra to use it, too, but that was in the past. When asked why I couldn't use the putting green after hitting off the range, they said it's because they need to keep it green. When I told them I was sure my putting wouldn't brown out their putting green, he said he meant the range. Not really sure where his argument was going. I can go to just about any golf course and use their putting green free of charge. Stone Meadow's policy is perplexing and frustrating. read more

It is sad to think no matter what a person writes here, the business will continue to get golfers. However, if you have the choice, and care about good customer service, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! The other reviews are correct, the employees are bitter at best. It seems almost an inconvenience to sell you a bucket of golf balls. While the prices are OK they have been continually increasing and they nickel and dime you for anything extra (for instance they charge $5 per 1/2 hour on the putting green). Mats are in poor condition, grass is worse, and none of the tees are level. And the worst part, way too many non-golfers who are loud and disrespectful. Bottom line, go here if there is no other option, but would be better off driving a few miles further to find a range where the people care, the conditions are good, and the golf balls are hittable. read more

nothing like getting out of work early on a warm friday, pushing 70 up storrow drive (are you people on the side of the road really going to try to run across!?!? - good luck with all that) and picking up the lady in belmont and hitting little old stone meadow. i've been here a few times a year for the past couple of years. it's a nice range with lots of turf tees and about a dozen or so grass tees. they've even got a sand section to hit out of all the way at the end of the turf tees. golf appears to be the official sport of lexington, so it's usually crowded. with buckets ranging from about $6 for a small to $12 for a jumbo, it's a good deal. they also have a very well maintained 9-hole pitch and putt course. you really only need your pw and putter, but it's good for working on your short game. there are a couple of water features and sand traps, so you actually have to have some control. for only $10 it's a nice way to finish an afternoon. read more

I went last night - the place was packed. I was with my two boys and there wasn't a single place for us and maybe thirty or more people waiting. I went back to get a refund and he wouldn't give me one. If he told me there was a long wait, I wouldn''t have purchased a bucket. I don't know why they won't give cash back? Five minutes had elapsed... The grass tees were a mess (huge divots), so people starting moving backwards to get fresh grass. I believe this created an unsafe environment, especially with two boys. They just take cash, which always seems like a ploy to use their generic ATM (and pay the associated fee). There are not a lot of options in the area. The place is OK and the Par 3 course is good for beginners or those that want to work on their short game. I will go back because there really aren't other options. read more

I have been twice now. Both times just to play the chip an put. It is a cheap, fun time and a great way to fine tune the short game. The tee boxes are artificial turf but the greens are legit and they are always rolling decent. I like to go with putter, lob, sand, gap, pitch, and 9 iron. I force myself to use different clubs in all types of situations always trying to get up and down. A couple of the holes are only 30-40 yards but they also have a couple around 100. The driving range looks awesome and I noticed they have some nice covered bays for instruction. I met one of the PGA Professionals, Joe McKinney and he was supper nice and seemed like a very knowledgeable teacher. The golf shop is a little out dated and the main counter guy that checks you in when you pay is not the friendliest but overall the facility is solid. read more

My son just participated in a 4 day kids golf clinic run through Stone Meadow and the Lexington Rec Dept. He received an hour a day of lessons in a small group with three great coaches. Despite never playing golf in his life, they were patient, kind, and fun! He jumped out of the car every day and talked about golf every night. It was the best $135 I could've spent. I think they created a new lover of the sport! We can't wait for the next sessions to start this summer! read more

I've only golfed two or three times and I know I'm not that good at it. Today I decided to try out the pitch and putt at Stone Meadow with my teenage son. The nine hole course is perfect for a beginner to try something different than just whacking balls at the driving range. For $12 per person it was a great deal. They had clubs for us to use and as many balls as we needed (which came in handy since we lost several in the brush). We'll definitely visit again! read more

The range needs to have markers from the grass tees as you don't know the disctances you're hitting to. The 5 dollar charge for the privilige of using the putting green...LMAO that's just absurd and greedy to the max! Most people who go to the range aren't working on their putting their hitting balls that they just spent 13 dollars on! read more

This range is a pretty good value for the area. Large hitting area with plenty of spaces available, though it does get pretty packed on weekends. I've yet to try the Par 3 course. It looks like a great place to work on your wedge approach shots and short game. Here are some things to keep in mind. First - Right before sunset, the sun is directly in your eyes due the fact the range faces west. Second - The grass tees are closed on weekends. I suppose this is to preserve the grass tees from the weekend hackers. Third - The putting green has a $5 charge which is somewhat bizarre. I made the mistake of putting on it while not realizing there was a charge, only to have the starter confront me and ask if I had a receipt. He was nice enough when I explained I wasn't aware of the $5 charge. The green was a bit slow and patchy, not worth the $5 IMO. There is an artificial turf putting green on the south side of the range that's OK. Overall, this is a pretty decent venue for the Metrowest area around Waltham, Belmont, Lexington, etc. read more

My wife and I recently attended a couple of clinics with Terry DeLeo and really enjoyed the experience. We are complete novices but he accepted us for what we are and gave us some great help in learning the fundamentals of the golf swing. He delivered information in nice bite sized pieces and we were able to make good progress under his tuition. Located in Lexington, Stone Meadow is a par-3 golf course and driving range. Abby has never played before, and I wanted to dust off the clubs since I haven't played since last summer, so coming here on a partly cloudy day with nothing else to do was the perfect idea. We started out with a small basket of balls to get our strokes down at the driving range, where I immediately shanked a ball and got mud all over myself. Fantastic! The par 3 course itself is a nice simply course with a few sand traps and one creek running through a few holes. Nothing longer than 90 yards or so. A good course for a complete novice in Abby and someone just trying to get back into the swing of things (no pun intended) in me. I missed a few birdies but managed to save par each time, and Abby even got a birdie chance herself. Fun times. Stone Meadows wasn't packed, but there was some slow play ahead of us. This was fine because we weren't the fastest players either and didn't feel rushed at all. $10 for the 9 hole course and $5 for a small bucket of balls. Not bad at all. read more

I actually love this place! The only problem is so does everyone else! It is always busy, but I typically don't wait more then 5 minutes for a tee if I have to wait at all.
