For dinner we sat on the best patio and our server (I forgot her name but wow was she amazing) was incredible with my food allergies. I am gluten free and this is a sports bar, not many options for me but she found a way to make sure I have an incredible meal. She was GOOGLING and working with the chef for safety! I had a grilled chicken sandwich with no bread and subbed out the fries for mashed potatoes. I felt safe, had no reactions and it was a killer meal. SO GOOD. After dinner we went to the bar and had the most incredible creamy espresso martinis, I had to cut myself off on one or I'd be rolling out. What a place, love it!

The staff is really friendly and seem to know the names of most of the golfers the day we played. As a semi private course we were able to play during the week. A Tuesday in August was very busy but didn't feel crowded. The fairways were beautiful and the greens are some of the best and most consistent that we have ever played. An affordable well maintained place. After 18 we had sandwiches and a beverage on the screened in deck at the charming clubhouse. The food and the service were way above average. This is the course Where I learned to play this great game when I was a boy. I hadn't played here since the 1970s. It felt good. Like coming home.

We had the option to have the ceremony at the location as well but we had already planned our ceremony somewhere offsite. Steve and his team were very flexible, allowing us to view the space multiple times leading up to the big day. The Bridal Suite had just been redone and it was so beautiful! We had a total of 100 people at our wedding and it was the most perfect space for us. The string lights and the new fireplace insert really made the space feel romantic. Our DJ was able to setup his space with lights, and Steve let us bring a fog machine and bubble guns! The bar staff were amazing as well! We had three signature drinks - all of which were delicious. There is also a cute balcony where I did the bouquet toss, which was very fun! One of the best things about renting the club was that we were able to bring stuff the day before and store overnight (decorations and such). We were also able to go back the day after the wedding to pick up anything we had left the night before. This was very helpful as we weren't rushed at all. The price was also extremely fair, and if I were to do it all again I would choose the Golf Club a million times over. We wanted a cozy, rustic feel, and we had toured a few other venues that were the barn type. They were extremely overpriced and honestly didn't even come close to being as great as the Golf Club. We toured the Golf Club when a bridal shower was being setup, and as soon as we saw the space all done up we knew it was the place for us!

Holes 10, 11, and 12 come to mind. 11 is silly narrow and is under heavy fire from the nearby range. Gotta think no-one cares because range balls were whistling through a narrow band of trees and collecting on that hole as we played it. Greens were slow and had piles of ants erupting from them. Fairways were cut pretty tight but were patchy and burned out. Its a sub standard layout on which high handicappers will lose a dozen balls per round.

Capital Hill is a fabulous stop on the Robert Trent Jones golf trail. This site boast three full…read morechampionship tracks named the Senator, Legislator, and the Judge. I spent three days here in June, and played the Senator and Legislator twice each and the Judge once. What a treat! The Senator is a links style layout that is very challenging. There are no trees, moderate elevation changes, lots of bumps, and plenty of sand bunkers. There are many blind shots where strategic placement of drives and layups are critical. The wind was blowing when we played, and I imagined it was close to playing an old course somewhere in Scotland. This Legislator is a beautiful course that is a traditional layout. The course meanders through woodlands and tree lined fairways. The back nine starts with a memorable ride past the clubhouse. The cart path winds down an elaborate wooden bridge. The back nine has some unique holes with a stretch that runs along a mountain ridge. #15 is a par four with a dramatic downhill tee shot to a wide fairway. I thought the Judge was hardest and most beautiful of the three courses. It runs along the Alabama River and water is in play on most of the holes. The view from #1 tee box is spectacular. It is extreme downhill drive to a narrow fairway. Two of the par threes are essentially shots to an island greens that require precise accuracy. This track measures about 5900 yards from the white tees, but it feels much bigger. The par fives are long and difficult(#7 measured 575 yard and #10 is 503).

They believe you are doing them a favor. Not used to that in this part of the country. The only negative was that the wait staff at lunch was unorganized and slow.
