1 and DONE!! "How can I help you!?" "Can I have a Reuben but on a wrap and add some scrambled eggs." 10am order had me feeling for a Brunch Type breakfast/lunch today... "Sure, no problem!" Legit, the most basic deli order you can ask for and they epically failed. Never in my life have I eaten a Rueben with 1 Slice of Pastrami/Corned Beef on it. I ordered a Reuben, with eggs! Not an egg sandwich with meat!!! The worst part is you wait patiently to find out later on, when you get to eat your food and it looks like this! Major let down. Never again! What a joke. $16+ for this, a drink and bag of chips? I'd pay $20 if I knew their sandwiches were legit!!!!

A must try

Staff here is awesome sweet. Food is never disappointing and always fresh. I have a favorite green bean salad but they're all wonderful.

You would think they make a decent selection of soups.... This is nothing special. The name attracted us but the soup selection is a joke. This is just a deli with a bunch of sandwich menus and very little organization. Store Capacity says around 34 persons and the max seems met just by the amount of employees running around trying to ignoring you. We ordered a Cuban panini and a Butternut squash bisque soup. They make their sandwiches in the AM and reheat them when you order them... Great. Cuban was deff not worth $8 it's super flat. The soup was served room temp and also flat... again you'd think a place with the word soup in it would either make great soup or at least serve it properly. There seems to be an attitude check that needs to be corrected here. I have to agree with all the negative reviews about the service. I watched an elder man ask for a coffee. He was directed to a self serve area where you could tell he was having difficulty but the staff just ignored it to talk to each other or clients they're friends with. Then he stood in front of the register waiting for one of them to turn around and acknowledge he wanted to pay for it. I would have self served myself to a free coffee!

Probably the closets thing in the area quick enough to get to on a 30min break. There's a bit of everything you won't be disappointed.

Very rude staff. Over heard them gloating about competition closing. Very pricey. Will be going to deli closer to home!

The kind of place you just don't find anywhere else, especially not back home in Virginia Beach. The inviting feel when you walk in, the regulars chatting up the staff, the air filled with the wonderful smells of fresh bacon, baked bagels, and savory spices. For my order, I went with a classic sesame bagel with cream cheese. It was absolutely fantastic. Soft on the inside, perfectly chewy, and the cream cheese was delicious. My dad was craving something a little different, so he got a BLT with chipotle mayo and avocado on toast. He raved about it the entire meal, saying it was one of the best BLTs he's ever had. It came with macaroni salad and a pickle (which I obviously stole from him). Even though this was my first time at Bagel Express, since I'm not local to Setauket, the whole experience was great. The quality, service, and authentic deli experience are definitely worth a stop. I'm already looking forward to coming back the next time I'm in town. If you're anywhere near East Setauket or just passing through, don't miss out on this spot!

They have an easy to use online system which I highly recommend because the inside of the store is a little chaotic. Even when you order online, you have to push your way to the front and get someone's attention for your order, because the pickup window for online and phone orders is the same as pickup for in store orders. Don't love the slightly high stress pickup process, but the sandwiches are totally worth it. Service is friendly enough, and they have a ton of lunch options in addition to bagels. GREAT bagels!

Skyline Deli

***The OTHER Place to Eat at the Hospital***…read more Like any other day you go to the Cafeteria for lunch. Greasy and crusty pasta that's been sitting there for who knows how long. Hour-long line for a meager portion of something that is at least given the impression of being custom made at the middle station. The salad bar has the tuna salad but no chopped chicken breast. Will a roll of sushi and some yogurt for $13 be enough to fill up? Looks like it'll have to be an overpriced tiny salad from Starbucks to hold off the stomach until mid-afternoon and then who knows what? Nothing will be fresh in the cafeteria at that hour. A vicious cycle ensues... Skyline deli to the rescue! Of all the places I've eaten, this has to one of the least aptly named. Granted, I'm not sure if I've ever heard anyone call it "Skyline" before. There are no skylines for a LONG WAYS and if there were, you're on the entrance level of the hospital, so you're not going to be seeing any. Also besides the fact there are no windows anywhere in the actual "deli" itself, so being smack in Midtown wouldn't help much either (it'd probably cost twice as much though). You can eat right next door in the seating for the cafeteria though. But onto the food. Like most delis, the Skyline Deli specializes in sandwiches. For a sandwich, you have two main choices: a cold cut or one of the specialty sandwiches. All are custom made: the cold cuts run cheaper. Since the cafeteria has seemed to unfortunately get rid of their cold cut station for much less healthy and less tasty premade panini style sandwiches, they don't have any competition for fresh made sandwiches in the hospital. You can get the "combo" which comes with a side and a small water for less than a dollar more. Just note that water is pretty prevalent (it's a hospital after all) and the portions of the non-chip sides are tiny - only a few bites worth, so I often don't opt for the "deal." Otherwise the specialty sandwiches run for six and some change and are pretty good--if they were a little cheaper I'd probably come more often, but hey, this is NY. They are pretty standard but good and have increasingly in consistency over the past year or so. A solid backup to the cafeteria. In the basketball world, a Taj Gibson, if you will. Not sure if the Knicks even have any active starters I would feel comfortable calling "solid." The sandwiches come with five add-ons--usually there's a good selection of standard toppings (think Subway). Note: Skyline offer guacamole as one of the add-ons. I've gotten some well-warranted strange looks for ordering guac on a chicken parm, but hey, you can only be a student once. Obviously maximizing calorie:price ratio but less evident is the fact it makes for a delicious sandwich. Hummus might be going too far but is also an option for those so inclined. You also get a choice for the carb part of the sandwich -- none of these are typically all that fresh but the olive bread buns are still awesome...makes you feel like you're actually eating at some Midtown deli that costs twice as much. I've never been and can't comment on breakfast, and according to legend (source: SBU hospital website) they have a 1a-4a late-night menu. Despite their lack of a presence on Yelp until now, Skyline is pretty popular...there is almost always a 5+ min line during peak hours (12-1p). I wish they could move through more customers at these hours but they typically seemed constrained by space and take their time making the sandwiches, so its hard to complain. Skyline's not as busy at other times. FINAL VERDICT: Decent-to-good sandwiches for hospital cafeteria standards. Amusing name.
