This was my first time here at this deli . It's a perfect place to pick up a quick sandwich for lunch . They sell a variety of all sorts of sandwiches, hero's, paninis ,soup and deserts. They also serve breakfast up until noon. They have several tables for indoor seating but they are kinda old and in need of some updating . Most importantly the sandwich and soup I ordered was delicious . I had Turkey with melted Munster and bacon on a garlic hero . A bit sparse on the Turkey but it was very tasty ! Was a bit confused because the cashier asked if we were getting our food to go or if we were eating in and we said we were eating in. She didn't address us after that so we went to sit down, assuming that meant she would call us if our food was ready or bring it. There are 4-5 tables and the place was empty. She brought us our food and I asked for a cup of water and she seemed annoyed. When she came back with a water cup the other people I was with asked for water as well. She sighed, walked away, then came back and said, "you know, we're a deli. We have water to sell but I don't do this." I wasn't sure if she was annoyed that I asked for a cup of water instead of buying it, or that we didn't go up to get the food? Either way, won't be going back. Legit, the most basic deli order you can ask for and they epically failed. Never in my life have I eaten a Rueben with 1 Slice of Pastrami/Corned Beef on it. I ordered a Reuben, with eggs! Not an egg sandwich with meat!!! The worst part is you wait patiently to find out later on, when you get to eat your food and it looks like this! Major let down. Never again! Hands down gotta be the worst deli I've ever been to. If they can even call themselves a deli. Not only is the staff extremely lazy, they pretend that they don't see you when you walk in or if you're ready to check out. And when you ask to purchase or order, two of the girls give you an attitude. One with black hair tall and glasses, the other one has brown hair. They act like you supporting their buisness is an inconvenience to them. I once got a bagel with cream cheese and the cream cheese was expired and tasted rotten. This is a joke of a place. I come here each time I go to the doctors office, down the road. The last 3 times, I've met up with some nasty workers. Last time they gave me an incorrect order, which I returned immediately and I got a look and fresh help, saying that I gave them the wrong order. The 2nd time, they again made it wrong. Today I ordered a breakfast special for $7.95, which came with no coffee. I asked if I could take hot water, to use my own tea bag. The closest server said ok, but when I was paying, I was rung up for a cup of tea. When I told her it was just water, again I got a look, and a comment. She rang it up again and the bill was close to $9, because she added the cup and said they don't give that away for free. I'm 77 and felt like I was treated abruptly and hastily. That's the last time they'll see me there, and I hope other older people will not use them again. Too bad, because their food, although very expensive, is good! I have tried to come to this deli multiple times. The women that work there are nice which is always good, and it's quiet in there which is always a plus when I'm coming in from lunch. I understand that it's usually busy and they're trying to get everyone in and out, but the food here is just not good. I've had multiple things from here, breakfast and lunch. Both bad. They just slop whatever they can on hero or a roll, it's just all around boring, unappealing and just not good to eat. My egg sandwich last week was so salty I couldn't eat it. Today's sandwich, the chicken is so rubbery I had to take it all off and just eat the bread. I'm just disappointed, this place is close to my job but I will be traveling for my sandwich's from now on. I've given this place so many chances and they've let me down every time. You would think they make a decent selection of soups.... This is nothing special. The name attracted us but the soup selection is a joke. This is just a deli with a bunch of sandwich menus and very little organization. Store Capacity says around 34 persons and the max seems met just by the amount of employees running around trying to ignoring you. We ordered a Cuban panini and a Butternut squash bisque soup. They make their sandwiches in the AM and reheat them when you order them... Great. Cuban was deff not worth $8 it's super flat. The soup was served room temp and also flat... again you'd think a place with the word soup in it would either make great soup or at least serve it properly. There seems to be an attitude check that needs to be corrected here. I have to agree with all the negative reviews about the service. I watched an elder man ask for a coffee. He was directed to a self serve area where you could tell he was having difficulty but the staff just ignored it to talk to each other or clients they're friends with. Then he stood in front of the register waiting for one of them to turn around and acknowledge he wanted to pay for it. I would have self served myself to a free coffee! read more

Walking into this place blew my mind. It is disheveled and worn out. Everything is dirty from the ice tea container to the counters. The refrigerators are dirty beyond belief. I had beef barley soup and it was absolutely delicious. I was hesitant and did not want to eat here. However my husband insisted. He had a Cuban Panini. It was dry. The deli case is so dirty and the display of sandwiches and food looks extremely dry out as if it's been sitting there since the day before. The staff seemed very disgruntle. I eat here almost weekly, I love it so much! Food is excellent, service is fast. My favorites are S.O.B sandwich (South of the Border) and the Alamo salad. They also have good breakfast options. Not what it's cracked up to be. Had a old coworker rave about this place, finally went here the other day for a quick lunch and I paid $17 for a soup, sandwich and two drinks. The panini I had (cant remember the name, it had bbq sauce, grilled chicken, bacon and cheese) wasn't good, the chicken was chewy and seemed undercooked. So i basically pylked out all of two pieces of chicken out of my sandwich. Way too much bbq sauce, bread was too hard and I was dissappointed. Broccoli and cheddar soup tasted good but they puree all the broccoli and whatever other veggies that are in it, so it looks like hospital soup lol. Apparently there was an issue where they delivered an order after telling the rep they couldn't so she had already ordered another lunch. So she called them for refund of the order bc obviously her company can't pay for 2 lunches. Stone soup actually sent an employee all the way to middle island to pick up food that was already half eaten by the staff(they didn't know anything.) Extremely tacky. We will not be requesting your food anymore. They went out of their way to pick up food to either re-serve it or throw it in the garbage. So ridiculous. read more

For some reason, i kept thinking Soup's On was the same place as Stone Soup and had been very disappointed with Soup's On in the past. Actually came back and got it again another time too... The combination of chicken, GUAC (you the best), and their sauce gives this panini such a cool kick. Also tried the Old Field - chicken cutlet, spinach, basil mayo, oven roasted tomato.... this one was alright and I would not order this again bc it was too mediocre without any special taste. The soups: They tend to be on the saltier side and do not come with bread... but they are hearty and filling. - Tried their version of chicken noodle soup with orzo. Every time we order they mess up somewhere an can never just bring the order right. We usually have to call back an wait to get them to correct it an deliver it. I have been working in this area for almost 15 years. Many Delis & Pizza places have come and gone over the years. I knew instantly that Stone Soup would last. First thing they did was completely renovate the place which it was in desperate need of. They spent the extra $$ and I guarantee it has paid off. The atmosphere is pleasant and inviting. They have a small area for dining as well as some tables outside that are great in the warmer months. The food is simply some of the best I have had in the Setauket / Lake Grove area. I have yet to have something that I don't like at Stone Soup, I am not kidding. The Hero's are just amazing (try the Melville Patriot, you will love it). Their Pannini's are to die for, especially the Cubano Havana, and their salads are very creative and unique. The custom salad bar is always fresh and they have a wide selection of ingredients. I have visited salad specialty shops that don't come close to Stone Soups selection. The people are always friendly and they go that extra step to make you feel at home. All the employees at Stone Soup are the best! Summer months are a great time to visit Stone soup as my co-workers and I enjoy taking the walk from our office , then being able to enjoy lunch outside is a definite plus when you work inside all day. Stopped in here twice, once for breakfast, and another time for lunch. Breakfast was fine and made me think this would be a good place for lunch. When I went for lunch, I looked at the menu board and when I told the counterperson that I would like the Seawolf Wrap she pointed to the refrigerator case and said it was in there. Panini's are their flagship, Heros are great too, soups are delicious and their variety of salads are worth mentioning as well. Service is on par usually, expect long waits during lunch as this place is well known. Does a ton of catering on a daily basis.
