Although I love to support local small businesses I have to say honestly that the food here is consistently mediocre. The bagels are dense and my orders end up being wrong every once in a while and I order simple things. Usually it will be an untoasted bagel or cream cheese when I asked for butter. It's my suitemate and I's tradition to get bagels on the weekends. We like to rate bagel stores based on Taste, Location, Price, Atmosphere, Speed. Taste: 5 Location: 5 Price: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Speed: 3 Strathmore was our go-to during the spring. My usual order is Lox + Cream Cheese on Everything, toasted. It comes with Potato Salad, Pickle, and Iced Tea. Unless you order ahead, there's usually a long wait on the weekends, and the place is usually packed. With bagel orders like Bacon Egg & Cheese (lox is considered sandwich), you could get a hot coffee (2nd pic). The cup recently got redesigned, and it reminds me of Philz Coffee (I used to religiously watch Emma Chamberlain lol) and makes me happy. read more

Terrible customer service!! I went into bagel store today.. I asked for an extremely small amount of butter on my mini bagels.. they gave me a ton of butter.. I went back to explain it was too much better.. the lady was mean and said too bad and angrily attempted to take some butter off .. I then asked if I could get a plain bagel instead and she said yes but would need to charge me for it.. I was shocked.. very rude and unprofessional.. I will never go back again read more

This is at the top of my favorite local bagel places. Strathmore always makes the BEST bagels and egg sandwiches. The everything and egg everything never disappoint. The bagels have the right amount of fluffy texture yet, a nicely cooked outside. The French toast bagel is delicious as well as their other fruit options or cheese bagels. Asked for a bagel with bacon and cream cheese and got a dry bagel with bacon and literally the thinnest, smallest amount of cream cheese I have ever seen in my life. It also wasn't even on the entire bagel, maybe 25% of the bagel had this thin bit of cream cheese, and I'm sure I paid for cream cheese. Please train your employees on how to actually put cream cheese on a bagel. read more

I don't live in the area, so I have only been here a few times. Each time, the food has been quite good and the service has been top notch.

I used to drive to the store on 347 for these bagels. When they opened in East Setauket on 25a I actually screamed whoopie! Strathmore has a great salad bar, fresh cream cheeses and their bagels are really good. They also make a few crazy bagels like flagels and blueberry. We've been coming here for years, I see my kids friends working here. It's nice to see the neighborhood folks on the weekend. And now they have live music?? I came here with my wife saturday morning to get a bagel and coffee. The olive cream cheese is soooo good here. Sunflower bagels, Sesame bagels, they are large and in charge! When gas prices started to rise, the bagel prices here rose?? They are now at .90 cents per bagel. Kinda high be worth it. My favorite bagel store n the East Setauket area. read more

Okay bagels but place is filthy. Needs a deep clean overhaul. The food on display looks old and questionable. I really don't understand the glove situation when you're touching all the same things you would with your hands but with gloves. It's dirty. And put some darn napkins out for customers. You have to ask every time you need some and when there's a line this could take some time. I've also routinely had bagels toasted to open them in the car and find them burnt and black - disappointing when you have a toddler who then won't eat it. decent bagels but I was very dismayed when they did not offer a discount on Veteran's Day- not even to a disabled combat veteran. Very unpatriotic for a village that prides itself on being an integral parts of Washington's spy network. This is a shoddy, run down shop in a strip mall, next to Kohl's Department store. A door and window are available at the rear end of the shop looking into the kitchen. Never, in more than 15 years, have I ever seen any hot bagels coming from their ovens and I have been there at the crack of dawn. An excellent bagel is sold here. The bagels from here have a thin, crunchy outer layer, into a soft doughy interior. There is a mild sweetness to it, Bagel twists are available in seeded and unseeded, everything, sesame and poppy. Bagels are available in plain, everything, sesame, cinnamon raisin, pumpernickel and multiple other choices. Fresh cream cheese is also available with flavors. Hot coffee, tea, sodas, juices and iced tea is sold here. They do prepare bacon and egg sandwiches, which are made all day. There is seating available so you can have breakfast or lunch there or on the go. read more

They're much better than Bagels & A Hole Lot More because they don't skimp on ingredients (those guys are slacking!). Nothing wrong with the bagels. The bagels are decent. BUT, the service is SLOW and POOR. There are some pretty rude women working there. No thank you, no have a nice day...AND half the time my orders are WRONG. Clearly some training in customer service and quality assurance needs to take place. I often see the owner, Rich, and he is either chatting with his friends or stocking drinks. It would be nice if he could pitch in when things are slow (which is often). It sets a poor example when the owner of the business tolerates this slow and poor level of service. People are complaining. He is losing many customers, myself included. I will go out of my way, to Nesconset Highway, for better bagels and service. read more

Rich raised his prices again. Mediocre bagels. Amidst no real local competition, he stays crowded and in business. The staff of young, college/HS students are very nice and kind but completely inept and poorly trained. Zero consistency from order to order. Watching Rich and the manager interact on the floor is at times awkward. I've been coming here for close to 40 years. 1. I miss Bagel King (those were the days). And 2. I'm done. I'll get my bagels from the deli from now on or I'll drive down to 347 (passing bagel express on the way). I've been here several times & unfortunately have witnessed a huge decline in quality all around. The bagels are always"in the oven" during peak times, and end up coming out undercooked small & flat. A guy on line at 11:45 am next to me orders one of the specialty hero's and is told there's no hero rolls- LUNCH RUSH. Egg salad on a bagel was literally a mere "smear". Might as well have just ordered the bagel plain, esp considering the price. The side salad of macaroni salad was a literal teaspoon serving. The people behind the counter were nice etc but they need guidance from the owner on how to prepare sandwiches on a bagel. It's not their fault. For the prices the sandwiches & bagels should be (used to be) incredible. When the bagels were brought out from the back the person putting them in the bins had NO GLOVES on. Unacceptable. A woman working there never smiles never acknowledges anyone there- like she's doing you a favor. I am so disappointed I will never go back. read more

I go here when I have the time to get breakfast. The prices are average for breakfast. All under $5 for egg sandwiches and a little more for omelets. They have nice selection of bagels and mini bagels and cold drinks. The service is friendly. The place is clean I think the bagels are a decent size there and I usually would get a mini bagel. Bagels can equate to 4-6 slices of bread so I can't imagine eating a regular sized bagel or larger anymore. read more

Wow! It was my first time in this place, and I can only assume that it's a shadow of what it once was. We ordered bagels and sandwiches, and we were pretty sorry for it. The service was quick and attentive, but that was it. The chicken salad wrap (which I believe should have had lettuce and tomato)(at least that's what it said on the menu) was just the wrap and chicken salad that had a sweet taste to it. A weird sweet chicken salad with absolutely nothing else inside. However, what shocked me the most was when I ordered a selection of bagels, instead of putting them in the bag as he went along, the guy sorted them out on the COUNTER! Yes, the bagels went from the basket to the public counter before they went in the bag. I shouldn't have accepted them on the spot, but I didn't think. I was too grossed out to speak. And as noted in other posts, the bagels looked anemic--skinny little things. I come to NY to visit family and to enjoy a NY bagel. This ain't it. Don't bother. Love this local bagel place! They always employ local students and kids looking to work hard and save up a few bucks, which I love, and the support the local community through other avenues as well like sports team sponsorship. They are always friendly, attentive, nice, and fast every time I stop in, even during the morning rush on a weekend. They have great bagels, great cream cheeses, and good breakfasts (we stick to the bagels primarily, although their potatoes are great). One of the few bagel places to even have Onion and Garlic bagels, as most other places (including Bagel Express) have cut these out of their stock and just sling Everything bagels. You have the ingredients, make a dedicated bagel to Onion, it is the best when you don't care about your breath later. The veggie cream cheese is not as good as Bagel Express down the road, but we like this place better. They actually understand what "toasting a bagel" means, and will even show it to you to see if you want it more toasted or not. Great service! One point of improvement, if you could text in your order, that would be great. Bagel Express does this but texting them never seems to work, so I should caveat that it actually has to work if you have that feature. read more

I normally go to Bagel Express, but I gave this place a shot on a whim. I ordered an egg and cheese on a flat bagel. As someone watching my diet, I really like that there is the option to choose one or two eggs here, and I also appreciate that the bagels are slightly smaller than those sold at Bagel Express... Sometimes I want a reasonable breakfast rather than a feast. My order came with a complementary juice box or coffee, and I was happy to see that the juice was 2x bigger than the tiny boxes handed out at Bagel Express. The bagel itself was alright, but it tasted kind of bland and dry. I don't think it was as good as those sold at Bagel Express. Still, the service was friendlier here, which was nice in the wee hours of the morning. All in all, the price and portions were right for me. Bagels are a dime a dozen on Long Island. And there seem to be a dozen different 'Strathmore Bagels' in the area. But, from my experience, this one is far better than any of the other Strathmore Bagels. The bagels taste better, the staff is friendlier, and the whole place just looks much cleaner. It's been my go-to bagel place for a few years now. I'm not a fan of the live music they have on Saturdays. It's too loud, and makes me just want to leave as soon as I get my food. read more

Rude staff ignoring customers until they finish their personal conversation, dropping loud f-bombs behind the counter and avoiding greeting customers because they don't want to do the work. Nobody over the age of 23 in the whole building, no manager present. Dried cream cheese all over the inside of the glass, looks like the place hasn't been cleaned in years. This is hands down the best breakfast and lunch place in the Three Village area! The food is generous and fresh. The omelets rival the best diners! What really makes this bagel place special are the people who work here. They great you as a friend and remember what you order giving this place a small town feel. Sadly, I feel the need to update my original post. I feel that it's gone downhill a little. It gets crazy busy and at times it can be painfully slow. It really depends who's behind the counter. I've been there several times when there was a long wait and noticed the owner was stocking the soda cans or talking to the staff. Maybe he could jump behind the counter and help once in a while. It's just frustrating when you're waiting fifteen minutes for a bagel and someone is stocking shelves. Also, the food in the refrigerated case looks old and dried out. I used to like coming here, but lately it's not the same. I hope they can get their act together. read more

If I could give no stars I would! This place was extremely slow, served a 9 month pregnant lady a half cooked egg sandwich and did nothing to rectify it. The older short lady got nasty when I told her I just paid for an egg sandwich and its not cooked.. her response was "Well I cooked it..what do you want me to do" and completely dismissed me. This is the second time I've been to this Strathmore. The decor gives the impression it is an eatery that gives back to the community, which I appreciate. That being said I will never return to this Strathmore again. Both times that I've gone the service has been terrible. Staffed by employees who move slow and give you an attitude because you asked where to put the trays when you are done eating. Bagel was good, but there are plenty of good bagel places around. They have the best bagels that I have had, and they make 'flagels' which are awesome. Crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. On a side note that i feel should be mentioned... the staff wears gloves, and while i think that is great - it absolutely defeats the purpose if they wear the same gloves when handling the money. I go here about once a week, mostly on the weekends. Compared to One If Buy Bagels (near the CVS), the bagels here are smaller and more expensive, but more carefully made and crispy. They aren't as doughy as the ones at One If Buy. While some other yelpers think the bagels here are expensive, $.90 is fairly standard for a single bagel (I know it's $.94 at Dunkin Donuts). Bottom Line: If you like small, crispy bageles go here. If you want larger, doughy bagels, go to One If Buy Bagels. read more

This place is not even close to as good as the strathmore bagels in stony brook. The bagels are mushy, the entire atmosphere is dark, and the owner seems annoyed every time I've gone in. Their prices are on the more expensive side, and their home fries are very dry. I'd rather drive the ten extra minutes to go to the one in stony brook. read more
