I had the carne adovada, which is a New Mexico dish or tender chunks of pork stewed in red chile sauce. im sure this place has its good meals and bad meals, but my family and I came for breakfast and I ordered toast, bacon, scrambled eggs and hash browns. the toast was more than needed burnt, not buttered. the hash browns were cold and needed more seasoning, the scrambled eggs were also not warm and weren't even scrambled. the bacon was hard and had a weird taste. we ate most of our food but mostly because we were starving from a long day. service was okay, not great but not bad. ambiance was slightly crowded and loud but looked traditional. read more

Not a lot to choose from restaurant wise in the small west Texas town of Fort Davis. There's a fine dining place (opens at 5pm), a convenience store slash sammich shop, and the Drug Store. We were in search breakfast on a Monday. That left some pastry options at the sammich shop or Tex-Mex options at Lupita's Place. Yes, I'm a Texan and eggs smothered in something spicy will win over just about everything else. Never had corned beef hash or scrapple; cause that's Yankee dining. Excuse me while I dust off my boots and starch my Texas flag that was flown over the capital building in Austin. Order at the counter service was friendly. Diners as well as staff were respectful and wearing masks. The boy ordered his usual short stack with sausage. Grandma had the migas. GF had a two egg plate with ham, taters, and toast. I chowed down on huevos ranchero with beans. My choice while flavorful and super spicy didn't match the photograph on the menu. Pic showed red salsa and I got green or verde. Sweated every bite and that's alright alright alright cause it's part of my work out routine. GF's ham was her only complaint as it was a bit charred IHO. Staffers kept warm out in the dining room with a propane powered wall heater between customers making pleasant conversation. My family has been frequenting the area since my teens (now 30 years forward) and it was nice to chat with folks that knew our local friends. See yall next year around Christmas! read more

I was part of a group of 19 that planned to stay in the Davis Mountains State Park and Lupita's was the only spot open at the time after we set up camp. We arrived at 7:30 (yes we knew they closed at 8, but everything else in town was already closed for the night and it's a group of hungry young adults), and we all ordered our food like normal. Initially the lady (possibly the owner?) behind the counter was friendly and we were all able to place our orders, get our drinks and sit down. She took our order by hand on a card and gave us an order number that was attached to said card. Seems normal, right? Things took a turn when the food was coming out... My girlfriend and I were on the same ticket. I had the beef tacos and she had the avocado burger basket. At first, the same lady comes out with just a burger and calls our number and my girlfriend takes the burger she had. Before she took a bite she noticed that there were no fries. We thought that since it was close to closing time, maybe the fries would take some time to come out, and were possibly coming out a few minutes after the burger. My girlfriend then takes a bite of the burger and as soon as she sets the burger down, the lady says the same ticket number again, and comes out with the correct burger basket and my tacos. The lady then asked if my girlfriend had already taken a bite out of the burger, and my girlfriend said yes because she thought it was the correct order. She then told the lady that the burger in her hand was the correct order and that we would figure out who had the first burger that was dropped off. The lady was hesitant and didn't want to give us the correct order. The lady then said "it's not my fault," to which my girlfriend replied with "okay, if you don't want to give me my correct order, give me my money back." The lady, then set the correct order down aggressively on the table and walked away with an attitude. My girlfriend is Hispanic and she understands Mexican Spanish. She said there were some comments made in regards to how she was an entitled white girl who doesn't know anything. She didn't say anything to the lady because she was hungry and wanted her food. She claimed to hear this while she went back inside to refill her soda. Overall, the food was decent. A few other members of the group ordered the enchiladas and they are not what your standard Taqueria enchiladas look like. These were corn tortillas with cheese and meat stacked flat on top of each other(like chalupas/tostadas). There is an option for sauce if you fancy that. Being from South Central, Texas, we are used to a different style of enchiladas where they are rolled with the meat and/or cheese inside, and the sauce is on top. Based off of this experience, I probably would not return to this establishment or recommend anyone continue to visit. The customer service needs improvement and so does the food. They do not take card, cash only. You can also Venmo the owner. read more

Came here the evening before and it was closed. Came back in the morning and had an excellent breakfast experience. Service was super friendly and our breakfast burritos were delicious. Come hungry because these are definitely overstuffed burritos. My wife and I could have shared one. Wrapped up our leftovers, but them in the fridge and reheated them for lunch. read more

Great option for vegetarian food. They had a vegetarian beans option and the rice doesn't have chicken stock. They could pretty much make tacos, burritos, salad with that. We had the Chicken Fajita Salad option on the menu with beans and rice substitute for chicken. It was great in taste. Warm chips and the green salsa was good too. Service was great. A friend of ours recommended this place and it sure was great. It is a hole in the wall in Fort Davis. The special we had "Green Chili Enchilada" was very flavorful and good amount of food. The price was very reasonable. You can drive 22 miles to have a lunch in Marfa but you are definitely going to pay a whole lot more. We are glad that we ate here at Lupita's Place. read more

Every time we visit Davis Mountains, we stopped here at Lupitas for breakfast and sometimes lunch, depending on our plans. The food is always fresh, hot and delicious. The ambience with the large windows looking out to the mountain is nice, and customer service is always cordial. It's different from Some of the Tex-Mex that I'm used to, however it's so delicious. Keep in mind when visiting here that not all Latino/Mexican cuisine is the same as it is different throughout the entire country. You won't go wrong here. We highly recommend it and every time we visit, we will definitely be back! read more
