We got some takeout from Stoneground last week, and it was extremely delicious. I had the black tagliatelle, and it was absolutely packed with seafood. Yum! We also shared the Nonno, which had too much garlic for my taste, but I was able to pick it off, no problem. I also enjoyed the polenta tots, but there was no dipping sauce with them, which seems like a missed opportunity. (Not sure if they just come plain or if the dipping sauce didn't make it in the bag.) I would like to eat a Stoneground meal again, and I look forward to dining in person at some point. read more

If it were just a few bucks cheaper, I would say it's totally worth it! He also got a glass of wine and I had an orange creamsicle-kind of mocktail, which was yummy! The food is absolutely delicious. Handmade pasta, unique flavor combinations, make for a fabulous meal! We had the lasagna, which was super flavorful, the spicy sausage fettuccine, the classic bolognese, and the new corn and cream stuff shells. All were so delicious! The food was delicious and the ambiance is beautiful. I'd recommend this place for a date night or a small group dinner. However, I would NOT recommend it for larger celebrations. This past weekend, I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday with 15 friends. Our reservation was at 8:00 PM, and most of my guests were seated by 8:20 PM. I completely understand that Saturday nights are busy, and some delay in taking orders is expected. My dinner arrived around 9:30 PM, which I accepted given the time and party size. What truly upset me was how rushed the evening suddenly became. My birthday cake was brought out without me requesting it, I was caught out of guard, which I later realized was likely because closing time was approaching. From that moment on, the entire table felt hurried. Many of my friends have worked in restaurants, so everyone became hyper aware of not wanting to inconvenience the staff. Within about 30 minutes, we were finishing dinner, cutting the cake, and preparing to leave. I was in my car by 10:20 PM. Half of the group dispersed in different directions, and I even missed saying goodbye to several of my guests. For a milestone birthday dinner, that was honestly heartbreaking. The staff did apologize as I was leaving, and I do appreciate that. I also understand that closing time matters. However, as someone who worked in restaurants for years, I believe there is a more thoughtful and elegant way to handle large parties near closing. A simple heads up to the host an hour before closing would allow the group to pace themselves and avoid feeling that rushed.I truly wanted this to be a special memory. While the food and setting were great, the way the night ended left me very disappointed. read more

One of my favorite places in salt lake! Any time I have guests visiting, I bring them here. Parking is super easy for a downtown restaurant and it's easy to get a seat without a reservation, but I do recommend making one. Apps, entrees, and desserts are all phenomenal, no matter what you get. read more

Ever wondered what "Al Dente" meant when taking about noodles? The noodles at Stoneground were perfectly " Al dente". It made me realize my noodles I make at home were mush! Glad I got to enjoy a meal here. They bolognese sauce was perfect. The fettuccine was a perfect balance of spicy and red sauce. The fried olives for an appetizer was perfectly light. This was only my second time going to Stoneground and both times the food has been amazing! I love the upstairs atmosphere and it's great for a celebrating a special event. The first time I was there, there was snow falling and it was beautiful to watch it from the upstairs window. The Steve's special looked a little off because of the sauce but it was absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend! The nono gpa was so flavorful! I liked both the gma and gpa. Stoneground is a beautiful space with beautiful food. It's pretty idyllic for celebrations - birthdays, engagements, etc. The vibe is upscale without feeling stuffy. Our most recent visit was for New Year's Eve. Everything from making a reservation to finding parking was easy and accessible. The vast majority of the food was amazing! The octopus carpaccio is easily one of the best dishes I've had in SLC - the textures and flavors are immaculate! Also, their lobster pappardelle is to die for - richly decadent and perfectly balanced. Their cioppino left a lot to be desired though - the various seafood components were not cooked correctly, so while the mussels and clams were great, both the fish and the crab were disappointingly overcooked. The space is upstairs (there is an elevator in the entrance on the opposite side of 400 south so it's ada friendly). There were some lovely outdoor spaces that we'd love to check out when it's not snowing! Music was also at the perfect volume so we weren't screaming over each other. Food was excellent! Polenta tots, burrata, and the fresh bread kicked things off. Love that so much of the food (bread, pastas, cheeses) is made fresh in house! We shared 2 pasta dishes, the pork chop, and the scallops. The pork chop and scallops were a tad overcooked which was a bummer considering the prices. Next time we will have to try a pizza or something less expensive but not as easy to overcook. I was recommended this place by a friend that used to work here. It was a wonderful spot as I walked to the second level. I found a seat at the back bar and ordered a focaccino to munch on as I decided walk to eat. Finally chose the bolognese because I was still walking around and the bartender Tristan said if I got the lasagna I would probably want to take a nap after. I personally felt the Chardonnay sauce was bland, if it was more flavorful then I would've considered this a perfect dish. My bf got the beet salad and it was beautifully presented. I followed my nose from down the street. And my buddy and myself found ourselves on a rooftop patio with great city scenery with the best chicken parm sandwich I've ever had. And despite its modern yet rustic inner city design and feel, you won't be spending a whole lot more than you would at Olive Garden. I don't know another place that puts as much effort into ambiance and culinary quality. The staff is insanely attentive and friendly. I just hope they can bring back the Chicken Parmigiana. You've arrived at your destination. Very cool vibe, both interior and patio. The most comfortable booths I've ever encountered. Great view of the kitchen and people watching around the restaurant. It smells amazing. The scallop ceviche was good, with light flavors. I wish it had a bit of chile and lime to complement the mango and scallop. The tagliatelle was just perfect. Order this and be happy. That sauce and perfectly al dente pasta! I always order gnocchi when it's made in house. This was divine. Light pillows of deliciousness with a great mouth feel, and a wonderful sauce. If you want bread, you must ask for it. The gluten free chocolate hazelnut torte was amazing. I asked for the recipe. Denied. I'll try to figure that out at home, but certainly will come back again. Service was great, glasses filled, we were checked on even though the restaurant was busy. We read the reviews and we were looking forward to having a great Italian meal but it started off rocky. When we checked in with the host he said we are getting your table ready and he commented in a bit of a snobbish attitude "how did you find this place, it's difficult to find" ', and I'm thinking to myself, we'll it's listed on TripAdvisor, LOL, it's not a Speakeasy! The host heads off to the main dining area and returns and he tries to seat us directly across from the host stand, literally 15' away in a small room with literally 2 patrons. I asked to be seated in the main dining room and he said "let me see," the host then returns and seats us in a booth that is the most uncomfortable booth I have ever sat in. I then requested to be seated at a table with conventional chairs, which he responds "I need to check and see if that is possible"and again he goes off somewhere to confirm. Ironically there were plenty of empty tables available all night long. Now the food review, at this price point expect quality and service, and if a restaurant charges $12.00 for bread it should be excellent, not average. Unfortunately. the ceasar salad was bland and over dressed, the olives were unmemorable and the gnocchi was hard as a rock. The pizza was basically a lazy recipe. Lastly, the service was terrible, we watched the waitress in the distance by the pizza area giggling forever with another coworker all the while ignoring all of her tables. Ultimately I had to get up from our table to request our check. At this price point one is better off going to Urban Hill or Capital Grill for a few more dollars and experiencing excellent food and service. read more

I am generally not a fan of food/restaurants in Utah. Things just don't hit for me when I visit. This place was actually pretty good and I would eat here again. There is a nice parking area in the back so that you don't have to walk too far to get the restaurant. Once inside there is sort of a weird set up where you walk up a few flights to check in. Once we were seated, the atmosphere was pretty nice. I'd even say cozy. I had the bolognese and it was good; definitely a big enough serving and presentation was great. Others in my party had the pizza and a few other pasta dishes. Everything was good. For dessert we had an order of doughnuts and again here, my NY bias is showing. I didn't think they were all that and a bag of chips... maybe just a bag of chips :). Seriously, they were fine and served hot with a raspberry sauce. Service was also good throughout the meal. The pizza tasted more like cheesey bread than a pizza. However, if you are into cheesey pizzas then this might be for you. Also, I was surprised to see how smoky the inside of the restaurant was. I thought something had caught on fire in the kitchen, but our waiter said this was relatively normal for the restaurant.
