I wish i could rate this place 10 stars. I would fly hours to eat here again..... In fact i did just that. Lol . I made a pitstop out of my way to SLC just to eat here. WOW it is Fabulous. I will rave about this restaurant to anyone with ears. The Zeppoli alone is worth it. But all of it was fabulous. In short, if you live anywhere close, come try this place. It is well worth it.

Very interesting restaurant. I give it a big 5 star yelp for food quality, service and value :) Simple and delicious salad for $11 big enough for two hungry people. Pizza is new Napolitano style and delicious $12 - $22 for one hungry or two. They serve Peroni on tap. Very cool. I have eaten inside once and outside once. Both are pretty basic. No frills. On street free parking.

I hosted a private event here and catering staff was inconsistent in response. Sometimes it was less than 24 hours and sometimes it was 4 days. The space was amazing. And well decorated. It was the perfect spot for our group. The food was yummy and the desserts were my absolute favorite. The Hunter pizza was a hit.

This place never disappoints! The chicken sandwich flavorful and the lasagna was cheesy, and absolutely delicious. Everything from here is always fresh!

Tagliatelle was a delicious meal if shrimp and fettuccine. About $23.00

Thursday night and looking for a good pizza joint. Reviews, internet and city guide of Salt Lake City suggested Salt and Olive. They could not of been further off base. This was a wasted dining opportunity. We arrived and waited patiently for a hostess to seat us. The place was not crowded. Once seated our waitress was missing in action. 15 minutes later, we were finally able to order a ceasar salad and hunter pizza with grilled steak, sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella and red onions. We substituted extra pepperoni for the steak and added hot honey drizzle. The salad was fresh, crispy and well dressed. The pizza was a disaster with minimal sauce, undercooked, super chewy and lacking any flavor. The steak was missing as requested but so was the hot honey drizzle. The double order of pepperoni consisted of 5 pieces total. The crust encompassed 30% of the total pizza. I ordered a pizza not bland tasting baked bread. I dislike leaving a negative review especially to a small establishment, but Salt and Olive eared this review. The staff was not focused, busy on their phones and not interested in whether or not the patrons were happy. You can't fix indifference. We will not be returning and hope others consider our experience when selecting a pizza shop in SLC.

Cute spot downtown! As I continue my quest to find the best pizza in the valley, this spot is a great contender. The restaurant has patio like vibes and was bright and clean. We came during an odd time (3pm) and had ample seating options to choose from. It was starting to fill up more as we left closer to 5pm. The food is so good! We stuck with pizzas and really enjoyed the crust! The balance of crunchy chewiness and balanced flavors were five stars, topping distribution was my only peeve on the House pizza just because I like to have a bit of everything in each bite and I had to spread the cheese out more to cover the whole pizza. Worth a try!

My favorite dinner spot in Utah!! Not only is the food amazing, the service is also amazing!! Chef Nesa always seems to surprise!! The Short Rib Osso Buco was incredible!! Meat soooo tender, it fell right off the bone!! This had been our go to spot for years, and that is not going to change!! Thank you Chef, and everyone at Salt n Olive!! You always make it special!!!

Loved this place!! The interior was so cute! They have a coffee area with pastries, ice cream and other treats at the front. The restaurant was very spacious and cutely decorated. My boyfriend and I split the Margherita pizza and the pappardelle pasta. Both were amazing, I loved the pasta, it had mushrooms and a sauce that was delicious! I also got the blackberry bramble drink, so cute and yummy! It was a lemon/blackberry drink. Hope to be back soon to try more!

Not a bad restaurant at all but also not sure I would return. Menu looked good and I was hoping for a spicy pizza. Ordered the El Diablo but it was bland and had no spice at all. Service was good, nothing outstanding even though it was really slow. The ambience was odd but maybe it was just me. The other tables seemed to like it. Pizza was huge and I could only finish half of it. Very dense dough which probably filled me up. Also got a salad and that was very good and fresh.

Great atmosphere. I'm not pleased with the service or the quality of the food. I was disappointed in the completely drowned steak salad. See the picture. I could not eat it. Terrible.

Since the ownership and head chef changed earlier this year the quality of the food and staff has negatively changed this restaurant.

    Do they do take out?

Yes, you can order food for pick up! Or you can swing by and wait for them to make it, which I have done before.

If they're open at 8 am, what kind of breakfast items to do they offer? I don't see anything on their menu.

I have not been that early, but as you walk into the restaurant, there is a counter with a case of pastries and a drink bar for coffees, etc. This establishment is not set up…

Is Salt & olive good for large groups?

Yes. The restaurant is large and equipped to handle large groups.

    Do you serve gluten free?

My friend who is Celiac was with us and YES they have GF pizza crust (she got a GF pepperoni pizza), cocktails (she had the cucumber margharita), and dessert options! She said all was delicious.

I was welcomed and taken directly to the bar (as I requested) and offered water choices. I felt very well served! Wow, the focaccia and other breads in the basket were great, but they add in a garlic butter!!! WOOWOO. Decided on a Hugo Spritz and a Rose Spritz, so two great drinks with dinner. I also ordered the meatball appetizer and the Aglio E Olio pasta. I really loved the Aglio. I thought the meatballs were good, but not my favorite. That being said, I came back the second night for dinner again and they have been spot on with everything (minus the meatballs not being my favorite). The next night I tried the Brasato and those short ribs did fall off! I also had a glass of an extremely expensive wine, so it was nice to be able to try something and that they even have that option! PROS: Wonderful spot on the corner of downtown, near hotels Great Employees, including the singing.....yes I received a song Great food, choices are good and they have options for everyone WINE Choices are out of this world. The restaurant clearly aims for an elevated dining experience, and there's a lot to appreciate in the overall presentation and ambiance. That said, the experience landed more in the "good" than "exceptional" category for us. The dining room was noticeably loud, which made conversation a bit challenging at times. While the food was well presented, the pricing felt a little ambitious relative to the overall quality. Several dishes were extremely heavy on the Parmesan Reggiano--to the point that it overpowered some of the intended flavors rather than complementing them. The service team was kind and well-meaning, though some interactions felt slightly awkward rather than naturally polished. Overall, Matteo delivers a solid dining experience with a lively atmosphere, but at this price point, I was hoping for a bit more refinement and balance. Still a worthwhile visit, especially if you enjoy a vibrant Italian dining scene.

The food was absolutely heavenly from start to finish, and I'm still dreaming about it. I even packed up my dessert to enjoy later, and Ben thoughtfully included instructions on the container for the best way to enjoy it. It's those little details that make such a lasting impression. Our server, Ben, was truly exceptional. He took the time to explain every special in detail, made us feel like we were longtime friends, and struck the perfect balance of being attentive without ever hovering. We were dining with our toddler, and he brought over crackers just in case our little one wanted a snack. That level of thoughtfulness speaks volumes. The restaurant had technically closed, but Ben never once made us feel rushed. Instead, he let us relax, enjoy the beautiful patio, and savor every moment of our meal. Genuine hospitality like that is so rare. Everything about our experience was outstanding, from the incredible service to the unforgettable food. If we ever find ourselves back in Salt Lake City, Caffé Molise will be our first stop without hesitation. Thank you, Ben, and the entire Caffé Molise team, for making our visit so special!

The bar staff were quick to serve us, knowledgeable about their products, and made excellent cocktails. We were seated on the balcony, which had a wonderful ambiance. The garden setting was beautiful, the décor was tasteful, and the seating was comfortable. The serving staff were attentive throughout the meal. They were knowledgeable about the specials, offered appetizer suggestions, promptly cleared empty plates, and ensured all of our needs were met. Unfortunately, the food is where the experience dropped from a 5-star service rating to a 3-star overall rating. The fish was overwhelmed by a heavy tomato sauce that masked the flavor of the fish itself. The gnocchi was overcooked and swimming in sauce, resulting in a disappointing entrée. While the atmosphere and service were exceptional, the quality and execution of the food did not match the high standards set by the rest of the experience.

There were two options and we chose the one with shrimp on romaine, burrata caprese, and melon with prosciutto. Then we shared the pasta sampler (which has a much cooler name that I can't recall because I don't speak Italian!). I was never a big fan of gnocchi but it was fantastic, served in a spicier tomato-based sauce. There was a spectacular butternut squash ravioli, spinach ravioli, and a spaghetti with an indescribably delicious cream sauce. Overall, that dish is NOT to be missed. We also had a special entree of beef tenderloin with mushrooms, shaved potatoes, and an oxtail sauce. We shared it because OMG food coma, which was a great call. We finished with the tiramisu *swoon* and the lemon gelato with lemon juice, local Utah honey, and sea salt sprinkles. I'm not a big lemon dessert fan and I wouldn't have normally ordered it (I had the tiramisu). The lemon gelato with honey had such a pleasantly unusual texture. The honey had the mouth feel of stringy cheese but the flavor of spring. The gelato was delicate and soft and the salt just amplified the experience. Zachary was our server. One of my requirements was cocktails, and those looked pretty good from what I saw on Yelp. The menu was intriguing as well. I knew I wanted to try the tuna tartare for sure. I made a reservation for us for 18:30 and we were greeted with a smile and quickly seated. The ambiance was beautiful. I loved the giant tree in the middle of the dining room, and the seats were so chic and comfy. There is a parking garage, so no need to worry about parking either. Our server promptly greeted us and we placed our order for our cocktails and the tuna tartare app. I went with the Truth or Pear (I'm a sucker for anything pear related) and my husband went with the Mezcal old fashioned. Both arrived to our table shortly before the complimentary bread did. That bread was oh so warm and fluffy, and came with the most delightful herb oil to dip in. The cocktails were good, smooth and well-balanced. The tuna tartare was next to arrive, and it was plated wonderfully. I was very excited to dig in. The bread was toasted to perfection, and the tuna was seasoned with the most delightful citrus notes, just as stated in the menu. It was a perfect combination of flavors, and my favorite dish of the evening. The portion was also generous in my opinion, and we definitely savored each bite. As far as our entrees, we both wanted pasta, and the bison rigatoni caught my eye immediately. The spicy rigatoni spoke to my husband as well, so that's what we both ended up ordering. The pasta was quite decadent, especially mine with the ricotta. We noticed a lot of people packing up leftovers, and quite frankly, if we weren't so hungry, we probably would have had leftovers as well. While the sauce was overall good, it was a little monotone. The rigatoni was also a little overcooked. I honestly expected more, especially coming from CA, where I am no stranger to quality pasta dishes hailing from restaurants in Carmel, Half Moon Bay, and similar towns. We left with our bellies full, and the service was great, but I wished our pasta dishes were better, especially for what we paid (which was comparable to what I've paid in CA, mind you). The tuna tartare was most definitely the highlight of our meal. The next time we're in SLC, I'd come back for the tuna tartare, but it looks like I'll need to do a more thorough search for restaurants that serve better pasta.

Our server was quick to apologize, had a fresh entrée prepared right away, and even comped the meal, which was greatly appreciated. The replacement dish came out hot and was much better. I also enjoyed a glass of red wine that paired nicely with dinner, and the complimentary bread was absolutely delightful--fresh, warm, and a great way to start the meal. One of my favorite touches was the beautiful cherry blossom tree in the center of the restaurant. It creates such a unique and inviting atmosphere and really adds to the overall dining experience. While there was a small hiccup with the food temperature, the excellent service and attention to making things right turned it into a positive experience. I would definitely return.
