We went here for date night and--wow--did this place blow our minds. The dining room is beautiful and spacious, the cocktails were beautifully crafted, the waiter was friendly and attentive, and the pasta dishes were some of the best we've ever had. We easily made reservations and found street parking about a block away. We started with some delicious cocktails--the Lady Pleaser and Paper Plane--which were both delicious. We had the bread with whipped cheese and hot honey along with the grilled caesar salad and crudo for appetizers. They were all beautifully presented and delicious but the caesar blew us away and was one of our favorite bites of the night. We got a few more cocktails to enjoy with dinner--the Mezzin' Around and a gin, mint, and lime drink I forgot the name of. We enjoyed both of these as well. For entrees, I got the carbonara and my husband got the squid ink pasta with lobster. I've never seen more beautifully presented pasta dishes in my life. The flavor matched the beauty too--and the portions were good enough to take half home. My husband was incredibly happy with all the lobster in his pasta. We took a raspberry tiramisu home, which was also delicious. The bill came to $208 before tip, which matched the quality of the food and restaurant experience. The atmosphere here is lovely, we went on a Thursday night and it wasn't too busy. There are several different seating areas and options for private rooms. I love that they take reservations here, even for small parties. The food is great, the type of place I'd like to revisit and try most of the menu. I particularly enjoyed the Wagyu bruschetta, tonight. Above all, the thing that stood out was the warmth of the people here and the service. My bf and I came in for pizza. He got the margherita and I got the truffle pizza. I was super excited for mine, but honestly it just wasn't for me; I realized I'm just not a ricotta person and it was a little too creamy for me, and the arugula was pretty bitter. Very interesting restaurant. I give it a big 5 star yelp for food quality, service and value :) Simple and delicious salad for $11 big enough for two hungry people. Discovered this gem by chance and trial. What a treat! Ambience, service and food quality were absolutely superb! Every one of us enjoyed our entrees- including Roasted Chicken, Pork Chop, Seafood combo and Filet Mignon steak- and the included sides/sauces were very tasty. Oh my...had a over night stay at SLC and looked up high review Italian restaurant. Dont know how they have over 4.4 ratings. Use your finger if you order pasta because the noodle will come in Dwarf lengths. You cant use forks to eat that and not too mention how salty it was. I was so hungry after 11hours of driving and finished 2/3 of the dish anyways but had to drink as I chew. Waitress reaction when I asked why and how the spaghetti were so short in lengths? "Really? I hosted a private event here and catering staff was inconsistent in response. Sometimes it was less than 24 hours and sometimes it was 4 days. The space was amazing. And well decorated. It was the perfect spot for our group. The food was yummy and the desserts were my absolute favorite. The Hunter pizza was a hit. read more

Thursday night and looking for a good pizza joint. Reviews, internet and city guide of Salt Lake City suggested Salt and Olive. They could not of been further off base. This was a wasted dining opportunity. We arrived and waited patiently for a hostess to seat us. The place was not crowded. Once seated our waitress was missing in action. 15 minutes later, we were finally able to order a ceasar salad and hunter pizza with grilled steak, sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella and red onions. We substituted extra pepperoni for the steak and added hot honey drizzle. The salad was fresh, crispy and well dressed. The pizza was a disaster with minimal sauce, undercooked, super chewy and lacking any flavor. The steak was missing as requested but so was the hot honey drizzle. The double order of pepperoni consisted of 5 pieces total. The crust encompassed 30% of the total pizza. I ordered a pizza not bland tasting baked bread. I dislike leaving a negative review especially to a small establishment, but Salt and Olive eared this review. The staff was not focused, busy on their phones and not interested in whether or not the patrons were happy. You can't fix indifference. We will not be returning and hope others consider our experience when selecting a pizza shop in SLC. read more

Cute spot downtown! As I continue my quest to find the best pizza in the valley, this spot is a great contender. The restaurant has patio like vibes and was bright and clean. We came during an odd time (3pm) and had ample seating options to choose from. It was starting to fill up more as we left closer to 5pm. The food is so good! We stuck with pizzas and really enjoyed the crust! The balance of crunchy chewiness and balanced flavors were five stars, topping distribution was my only peeve on the House pizza just because I like to have a bit of everything in each bite and I had to spread the cheese out more to cover the whole pizza. Stopped for dinner at Salt & Olive and it did not disappoint. It was a lovely night so we sat outdoors. Our server, Keeley, was fantastic! Husband had the Bucatini and this was a hearty dish and heavily portioned. Prepare for leftovers! I had the pappardelle with peas and mushrooms and it was incredible. Loved this place!! The interior was so cute! They have a coffee area with pastries, ice cream and other treats at the front. The restaurant was very spacious and cutely decorated. My boyfriend and I split the Margherita pizza and the pappardelle pasta. Both were amazing, I loved the pasta, it had mushrooms and a sauce that was delicious! Not a bad restaurant at all but also not sure I would return. Menu looked good and I was hoping for a spicy pizza. Ordered the El Diablo but it was bland and had no spice at all. Service was good, nothing outstanding even though it was really slow. The ambience was odd but maybe it was just me. The other tables seemed to like it. I don't understand the hype around this place. Yes it's a beautiful restaurant and the service is impeccable. They even have a fancy "back room" with its own menu that you can eat at with reservations. But that's also weird. You can't order from the regular menu in the back. So if you walk in and like the place and then make reservations to come back, you'll get an entirely different menu. The bean dip (like hummus) was phenomenal, as was the flat bread. But that's about it. The cheese bread was ok. The balsamic glaze tasted burnt. The BBQ chicken pizza had no flavor. The blackberry pizza was similar. It would have been so good if you could taste the mint or green onions or the glaze. The lasagna was standard and good, but not worth almost $30. My daughter loved the bucatini, but she also likes spaghetti with meat sauce from typical chain restaurants, which is exactly the same. read more

Im actually obsessed with salt and olive. I have been here multiple times and every time is delicious. The truffle pizza is my favorite pizza I've ever eaten. It's so creamy and flavorful. Salt & Olive was a nice surprise when we were visiting SLC on vacation and found this little gem nestled away in the downtown area. A laid back vibe that progresses into more of a finer dining experience in the back of the building. We didn't have reservations but were seated quickly. We started with the flat bread and white bean dip. It was actually a heavier starter than we should have started with. It was really, really good and flavorful but the beans filled us all up a little too much. My entree was Pappardelle Al Tartufo which was a bountiful bowl of pasta with loads of flavor. The mushrooms and truffle cream sauce really made this dish pop. I could have done without the peas however, I wanted to order the dish as recommended to get the full experience. Service was great and very attentive. The only drawback was the pipes above our heads. Every five minutes or so they would start rattling and knocking really, really loud. Violently so. I was expecting them to break away from their mounts at any minute however, they never did. The staff seemed familiar with it as they never even flinched when it happened. read more

I love the ambiance here at night. It's open and clean with low music and warm lighting to give you that relaxed, cozy feeling. I ordered the Tortiglioni Verde (Sambuca pesto cream, green olives, blistered tomatoes, prosciutto, and burrata. The flavors were wonderfully complex while also being very comforting. Cute restaurant with great service and outstanding food. We had the Caesar salad which was a little chargrilled, I've never had it that way before but it was so delicious I never want it any other way again. The dressing was homemade and I got extra to dip my bread in because it was to die for. We ordered a pizza, ravioli and the pappardelle pasta and it was all prepared perfectly. My friend and I had a light dinner here the other night based on a recommendation from a server at another restaurant in town. Despite the comments made by other diners about the 'weird' ordering and checkout process, we loved it. The place has a cool, converted-warehouse vibe, casual feel for drinks or food or both, with lots of eclectic decor, a couple bars, an open pizza-oven area, wood accents, indoor and outdoor seating, and great team of servers. We had a couple delicious cocktails, the house bread/herbed butter, the caprese salad with beautiful colorful tomatoes, burrata and fresh arugula and basil, a plate of green (castelveltrano?) olives, and the lamb lollipops. All of the food was high quality and delicious, and we appreciated the seasonal/local ingredients. The only thing we didn't like was that the lamb lollipops dish was $18 for just 2 lollipops (1 for each of us), and the large serving plate was mostly sauce. A kind of strange presentation for such a small portion, and expensive. Anyway, we would still return again and would sample more of the menu. read more

My co worker and I came in here for dinner and drinks. The ordering system for this restaurant requires you to order and pay your food at the front counter before getting seated. The servers were very friendly and attentive. They stopped by to refill our waters and asked if we needed anything often. We ordered the Tagliatelle And Bucatini pasta. The Tagliatelle pasta was cooked perfectly to al dente, the sauce light but flavorful and the shrimps were quite large. The portion size is great to fill you up. My coworker got the Bucatini, that was filled with meat sauce, perfectly cooked pasta and sauce was great. Both the Bees knees and Once upon a lime drinks were in beautiful glasses. Seemed like a small portion but the quality is there. The atmosphere is more modern, edgy with an open spacious concept. Overall, the prices were very reasonable, the food was great and they had great customer service. read more

Had a layover here and decided to try this place out. The decor is lovely so no matter what you're celebrating, this restaurant is perfect. They have some great servers here with lots of Knowledge on what to order. I got the house bread and asked for balsamic vinaigrette, because I love bread butter and balsamic.
