    $4 Stout
    Teresa M.

Atmosphere 4 Quality 5 Service 4.5 Value 5 The parking lot is large and open, leading to the bank. Entry being through a bank is a bit bizarre and immediately strikes you as wrong, still, in through the bank doors and hang a left. From there, the decor is set up in the industrial style. We ordered pork belly tacos, rusty tractor pizza with $1 upgraded pretzel crust & 2 house brew beers. Both beers were stouts, the milk stout being my personal favorite of the 2, though both were very solid (especially for $4!). The pork belly tacos were well-balances with tart apples & jalapeños atop of juicy, sweet & savory pork belly. I appreciated the use of thin thices to keep the "shell" from getting soggy. As for the pizza, which I ate crust to middle, that first salty bite had me worried. Thankfully, we're talking salted rim only. The pretzel crust worked well, with the correct pretzel consistency- chewy, but not doughy. The figs were a pleasant flavor surprise. It just worked. Since we opted for bar seating, we seated ourselves. The barkeep was efficient. I'm not sure I'd say friendly, though he was never rude either - he just seemed detached or robotic. We weren't looking to make friends, so it's ok. I can see how others perceived it as a negative interaction. Other staff went about their business and they didn't appear to interact with each other either. It gave off a bit of an odd vibe that is hard to describe. Like everyone was in their own time & space. The food and drinks were served, the dishes were cleared & water was offered when we declined another beer, the bill was presented & ran in a timely fashion, all by the bar keep. I believe there were more staff than patrons at that time of day, which may have contributed to the awkwardness in the room. We came specifically to try some of the brews & I'm delighted to see that they listened to reviews & added happy hour pricing of $4 house brews. That is a bargain compared to every other stop we made. At $39 for 2 with app, pizza & beer, fab!

The Bear and a Caesar Bloody Mary

They have a great beer and drink selection. All day happy hour on Sundays! I ordered a Caesar Bloody Mary (not sure how this was different from a regular bloody ...) it was good. For food I got The Bear and it was nice and light. Others at my table got more traditional pizzas which also looked delicious. We sat outside on the patio, fountain is a bit noisy so wouldn't recommend if that bothers you.

Colleagues were in town with me, since they're big beer guys, we came here. Man, am I glad. First off, the unassuming location on the first floor of a modern bank building isn't what you'd think of, but it's. Great space with a really nice patio that's dog friendly. Plenty of TVs to catch any sports action, but not overwhelming. We sat at the bar, so the bartender took care of us. She mixed me a fantastic cocktail and was very attentive to our needs. She gave us some recommendations when asked when my friends were stumped. I got the amazing grilled cheese on a huge French loaf, really big enough for two people. Nice side of tomato bisque to make it feel homey. My friends enjoyed their pizza (the jalapeño popper). They were also really really happy with the various beers they tried. Definitely try this spot!

Came to this place while passing through Bismarck. Has both inside and outdoor seating that was plentiful. Good choice of brews both local and across the country. Decent selection of food, but I got the Philly sandwich and it wasn't appetizing for the price. It was basically a hot dog bun filled with steak-umm meat with a watered down cheese spread. The pub fries were undercooked and like eating hard potato nuggets. My buddy got the pizza and said it was average. I got the Hefeweizen and Mexican lager which were average in taste.

I was so excited to visit this place & was sorely disappointed. The food wasn't what I expected. I really liked their drinks. My main concern was that our salad had a fly in it. They brought out another salad & told us "don't worry the salad is covered by us" when the tab came the salad was still on there. We paid the tab & left.

We had lunch here our first day in Bismarck. I was starving. The food was good. I have Celiac Disease, so gluten free options are important to me. I was happy to have GF pasta as an option & the pasta with Alfredo sauce was good. The Caesar salad was good. My husband ordered the Stromboli. He sampled several of their beers and liked them. Overall a good dining experience and good start to our trip.

    Christmas caroling

It's very upscale and trendy interior, which was nicely decorated for the holidays. Hostess and bartenders were very nice and helpful. There was also a nice menu of pub food. And seasonal, of course, but even a quartet singing Christmas carols. They have a ton of room including a family friendly upstairs section and a 21 and over downstairs section, and all different kinds of seating including an unusual combination of bench and high back chair seating. RL and I chose to sit at the bar in the "adult" section. Which brings me to the beer. I wanted to focus on the ones they brew locally because , well, you know... "brewing" in the name and all. I'm sad to report to you that the beer was totally unremarkable. I hesitate to use the terms flat and tasteless, so I won't, but, well... RL had a pear cider which she said was quite refreshing. The food was hot and fresh (although it took quite a wile to arrive). So they get 4.5 stars for location, parking, decor, trendiness, and food. Only 3 stars for the house beers. Having said that, they have a large selection of regional craft beers on tap, so I suspect that you can find something you like.

excellent beer. smooth tasting and enticing. blends great on your palette . First trip to North Dakota

Really great service and good, affordable food. I love that they have vegan cheese and it went great on the weekly special roasted veggie pizza.

Really nice place. We came here for an early lunch. The place wasn't too busy, but it was during the NDSU football game. I didn't know that they are an official viewing site for the college. They even have trivia games during the commercial breaks. I had the cold Salmon BLT with pub fries, and I was very happy and am very full. I'll return again, I can't wait to see how it is during the summer when the outside pool, yes, POOL and 2nd floor outside seating area are open.

    Scotch ale.

I have only been to StoneHome Brewing a few times, but their food and service was always exceptional. I love their pasta and sandwiches.

Laughing Sun -- I guess the joke's on me…read more Went to celebrate Father's Day 2025 at Laughing Sun for some BBQ and a beer. I've been looking for good BBQ in Bismarck, and Laughing Sun has been recommended to me quite a bit. The place itself is really cool -- I love the big, open blues venue atmosphere. Axe throwing is a fun touch, and I appreciate that it's sectioned off so it doesn't distract if you're not into it. The line to order moved quickly, and ordering was smooth with friendly service. I got the 3-meat BBQ plate with brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. For sides, I chose mac and cheese, beans, and kettle chips. My wife ordered a half order of the BBQ nachos and a root beer. I had the Space Probe Blue, a sour -- which I really enjoyed. The ribs were great: served slightly above room temp, tender, and well-seasoned. I'm not a fan of competition-style ribs where you're expected to leave a bite mark, and thankfully these were more tender than that. Not quite "fall-off-the-bone," but a really nice middle ground. The pulled pork was solid -- moist, well-seasoned, and with noticeable smoke flavor. The brisket looked promising with a nice bark and smoke ring. But that's where the positives ended. It was the driest brisket I've ever had -- barely edible. Truly terrible. It looked old, and I'd be shocked if it hadn't been sliced the day before. I was genuinely disappointed. Brisket and burnt ends are my jam, and I just couldn't vibe with it. The "award-winning" mac and cheese was served at room temp and was mid at best. The beans were also served room temp and are supposed to include brisket -- fortunately, mine did not. I'd give the beans a 5/10. The kettle chips, though, were excellent -- crispy, well-seasoned, and easily the best side of the bunch. The BBQ nachos didn't go over well with my wife. Her main issues: the pulled pork was wet and spongy, the pico de gallo was overly watery and made everything soggy, and the use of melted cheese instead of nacho cheese didn't work. In summary: If you're after a great local beer and a fun atmosphere, this could be your spot. But if you're looking for killer BBQ executed with care, maybe do what I'm going to do -- and keep looking.

I've even made my own from scratch with very good results. But I must say: The Walrus blew my mind. Their presentation is absolutely fantastic. The cakes are meaty, just-right-crispy and delicious and they are served perched on a bed of gorgeous greens. The greens are lightly dressed in a lovely vinaigrette and topped with perfectly roasted veggies and feta. YUM! We also ordered the artichoke and spinach dip. Delicious. AND served with plenty of yummy crostini for dipping. So many places skimp on the dippers, and it's always annoying. Not so at The Walrus. Service was prompt, friendly, attentive and efficient. If I'm ever back in Bismarck, I'll be campaigning for a return visit. Until then, I'll be dreaming about those crab cakes.
