Food wise, it's incredible, but overall, not perfect. For my grading scale, for those who don't know, I NEVER give 5 stars unless everything in a full experience is perfect. 5 stars is perfect, so if I have even the smallest complaint, I will never give 5 stars. That being said, when it comes to food, presentation, taste, originality, this was one of the top restaurants you will find anywhere, and in Tulsa for sure. I tried a bunch of things. The salmon my wife had was cooked perfectly. best entree on the table. The sauce was tasty, the contrast of savory and sweet was awesome, good greens, good veggies, good garnish, just BOMB. All the veggies you see were good also. The carrots had great flavor, the broccoli was my favorite with the great spice, but not enough to ruin the veggie taste, and the asparagus had a good sesame flavor, but not overpowering. BY far though, my favorite thing on the table was the Dates. When you wrap a sweet fruit in a slightly spiced chorizo, then wrap that amazing combo in a salty piece of glorious bacon, there's no negative there. I could have ordered that 3 times and been satisfied. I didn't want to spend much time on the complaint, because she was just weird and spacy. She never wrote anything down, then had to ask for me to repeat my order on 2 occasions. I am not impressed, I just want you to get it right. She also took my friends potatoes when he asked to box them up, and never brought them back. And finally the worst of it was she actually charged his card to the wrong table, and then brought him another persons card and check. That is never ok!! She almost ruined the meal. Only other complaint was cost. It is VERY pricey, and IMO not 100% worth the cost. It's about 85% worth the cost, but $100 at lunch for 2 people is significant. The menu was also a nightmare. Really weird the way it was presented. I had to ask what multiple things were because it never actually specified. I do suggest this place. It was a great time with amazing food, but not perfect. 4.6 out of 5 in my book! read more

wow! can i just say that, again, i'm not very easily impressed and tulsa has been having a hard time keeping good staff at their restaurants. that being said, stone horse isn't lacking in any sense in either service or food quality. during a late lunch, maybe around 1:30-2:00, it was decently busy so i chose to sit outside. very clean and was promptly greeted by a server, who's name i didn't catch, but she had on the best eye makeup :) she grabs my drink here for me and my server, who was also prompt and polite, was amazing! no complaints from me, ever, as this is my second visit in. salmon lox has just the right amount of salmon for lunch, and the new york style is really beautifully done. you get what you pay for and the dishes, each one, are prepared with intent and care of which you can see displayed in the photo below. i'm solidly impressed. i think i paid $30 total for the meal you see below. for price comparison, i had two veggie rolls and two drinks from a respected establishment here recently and it was $60 after tip. this is KING SALMON and you get a generous portion. can't complain about anything on that plate. the greens are fresh and crisp, the eggs are never grey/burnt from being over cooked, and it's a fresh lunch that doesn't take forever to make it to your table! how amazing and only $17?! you will see me back stonehorse. :) just an added bonus: i also left something behind and the girls held onto it for me. how sweet! i appreciated their service more than anything. read more

The food is always EXCELLENT, the staff can be very nice but if you don't have a reservation don't bother and they'll make you feel like a lower class citizen if you don't have one. The bar is my favorite spot. Great people, great interaction, great recommendations. It's very small inside and you'll most likely be sitting close to someone else but does have outside seating as well and the food will be worth it and can be a bit pricey depending on what tax bracket you're in and what you order. Just call ahead and make a reservation or plan on sitting at the bar. read more

An extremely unprofessional woman who claimed to be the manager (Johnna) was the most rude, unprofessional person I've ever encountered. My family has spent lots of money and time at both StoneHorse & the SH Market. We loved JC & Amelia when they worked with Tim. Local support for local businesses. This chick seems to be the most unloved human because she spoke hate to at last 8 people in my presence. Her mantra was " Hey bitch, you shoulda got a reservation". Really? How does one do that when your phone lines are down? This two day encounter put a stain on my beloved StoneHorse Cafe which can only be erased by her absence. We explained the situation and were told since we drank the wine there was nothing they could do. They were both Spanish wines written in Spanish. This restaurant has been around a while but I haven't ever made it over there. We decided to try it today to get me out of the house for a few hours and it was really nice. We tried their bacon wrapped dates which were really tasty but I could really only eat one. Definitely not the appetizer to chow down on but great to share with a group for something a little different. I ordered the lobster bisque and it was really great. I didn't get any lobster meat so definitely a creamy based bisque. Still very tasty and I didn't leave any to spare I ended up splitting the Long Island duck and it was so delish. Loved the purred carrots and potatoes. Very beautiful presentation and so good. The have a nice patio and with Utica square shutting down it's really nice and peaceful to sit outside. We spent out time at the bar which was perfect for us. read more

Is this establishment under new management? I went to afternoon tea with my mother, mother-in-law, and sister, and we were very disappointed by some of the changes. The tea was very much lacking in food service, much different than the way it used to be. We used to have to roll away from the table because they gave you so many little bites. We barely had enough food to make an appetizer between the four of us. In addition to our own personal service, it seems the restaurant has lost a little bit of what made it unique with the servers and staff. Our waitress was perfectly acceptable, but there was just a lack of liveliness and familiarity. All the former servers used to be quirky and fun, and now everyone's in a plain black apron without any personality showing in their attire and they seem almost mechanical. We are going to try and go back for lunch one more time before I have to take them off my list. read more

Made reservations for 2:30 afternoon tea for my mom as a late Mother's Day gift. The server, I believe her name was Heather (??), was absolutely awesome! She was helpful since it was our first time. My mom and I got so stuffed and had plenty of left overs. If you're thinking about doing to afternoon tea for girl time, do it! It's $25 a person, with unlimited variety of teas and so much food. Just discovered brunch at Stonehorse! So many great options and at a much lower price point than dinner. I had the three egg omelet with salmon lox. It was SO GOOD! The omelet had cream cheese in the middle and came with a generous portion of salmon on the side with a small tomato and Arusha salad for 12!! I also had the spicy Bloody Mary which was perfect! They make there own mix which is a nice change from Zing Zing. read more

While I'm sure that the Stonehorse Cafe's entire menu is insanely good (I ogled every dish that our waitress served to various nearby tables), my review is only for the afternoon tea. The set up is similar to a high tea, except the finger foods and sweets are brought out in three separate "courses" in lieu of the tiered tray that I've seen used most often. While the tea itself was very enjoyable, I must say that the food really stole the show. The first plate delivered to our table was home to fresh-from-the-oven mini blueberry scones with homemade jam and a pat of butter. While I could wax poetic on these all day long, I'll just say that they were as incredible as they sound, and leave it at that. The second round of treats included savory bites and tea sandwiches, and each one was a hit. Think mini crab cakes, slices of quiche, cucumber sandwiches, etc. All very tasty! Aaaand, last but not least, the dessert tray! Cupcakes, chocolate concoctions, raspberry tarts, Madelines with lemon curd.... oh, it was all so good. But the pignoli (Italian cookies made with honey, almond paste and pine nuts) actually changed my life. When I found out that you can purchase these Italian wonderlands next door at the Stonehorse Market, my changed life became infinitely better. Not only are these perfect with tea, they are also perfect with afternoon coffee, or just eaten on their own. A possible Instagram caption could sum it up with a simple: "YAAAAASSS". I guess at some point I should actually mention the tea, so here goes. The selection is similar to the one listed on their website, and there was something for everyone at our table. I sampled the Pai Mu Tan and Masala Chai (and by sample I mean I drank an entire press of each one by myself ... because I take the All You Can Drink part very seriously), while Mom and sister tried the English Breakfast and Royal Bengal Tiger. **Important note: tea time is Tuesday-Friday from 2:30-4:00, and reservations must be at least 24 hours in advance (probably because they prepare all of the tea treats the day before/day of). read more

I've not had the entire menu but what I've had has been excellent on every trip. The atmosphere feels a bit crowded however, only a complete redesign of the interior could change that. Wouldn't expect that too soon, but that's ok, I'd hate to await reconstruction! I suggest going early like retired old folks such as myself can do :-). Sit at the bar, eat at the bar. I've eaten here over the years. The service has diminished. My wife and I walked in with no wait. There were about five tables open for four seats. They led us to the bar and and when we asked about the tables they advised us that the tables were for four guest. It was one of those nights -which made for a hungry, hungry Buffalo Sarah this morning. Julie, Aimee, and I decided to feast on a Stonehorse brunch and it could. not. have. been. better! Jeeze o'pete! Our happy and kind waitress kept my delicious cup of coffee full and was so helpful when explaining questions we had about the menu. The space is unique with a beautiful patio that is prime for people watching in Utica Square. Inside has a mixture of table seating and booths with eclectic art. The Andy Warhol-like painting of a dog inspired me to maybe do that with Olof one day... All three of us ordered an omelette...If you have read my past reviews, you know how I love my omelettes! It was a jaw-dropping oh my goodness gracious moment when they arrived. You guys... this is my favorite omelette I have had in Tulsa! Fluffy egg-whites with fillings like spinach and goat cheese? We popped in here for brunch last week while in Tulsa on official Yelp business. Which of course means we were in Tulsa to throw a party. The next morning, we needed food, and this menu fit the bill perfectly. The coffee was delicious and they kept it coming. We each ordered variations on the omelets from the menu - which our server had no problem doing. The three egg omelet (or egg white if you please) was fluffy and full of fixin's, which in my case was ham, cheese, 'shrooms and tomatoes. The ambience is fun: busy people power lunching while smooth servers with white linen aprons take care of every need. A man next to me ordered a thick, juicy steak at 11:30 in the morning. It came out steaming hot and it smelled so good I seriously almost asked him if I could try a bite. And, this being Tulsa, I bet he would have obliged. After looking at the pizza, dinner, wine and desserts, I can't wait to come back and try dinner. I think I'll try the steak. read more

Deli roast beef sandwich which isn't just some deli sandwich it has sweet caramelized onions, horseradish schmear on thick toasted whole wheat bread. Stonehorse Cafe has a few tables outside but one was particularly inviting because it was in the sunshine! Anyway, this place has wonderful meals but their Apple Spice cake was very fantastic. You should also check out the picture because it's beautiful... just sayin. and the creme brulee was pretty yummy as well. I am just not a fan of pretentious eating establishment based solely on being pretentious. It seems Stonehorse has built a reputation and they work extremely hard in keeping up the reputation rather than living up to it. On a day that was not busy, was asked if I had a reservation, still made to wait by Hostess that seemed well trained in acting as if the place was entirely too good for most people and worthy of a 15 minute wait. The server was professional and friendly but, again, acted as if she was waiting 8 or 9 tables, instead of the 3 she was actually waiting on. The Pizza was pretty good but, very small for the price. We ordered the Cheese Plate as a waitress recommended appetizer. Let me just say, overpriced and nothing special. We absolutely adore great food, we even like pretentiousness when it is lived up to by the dining experience. It seems, especially in Tulsa, too many Restaurants are focused on creating an air of pretentiousness without building the actual exclusivity that makes such a reputation deserved. read more

Another Tulsa restaurant I've been trying to get to for ages. Finally had an opportunity and man was it worth the wait! Stopped here for dinner before a concert, and accidentally purchased a Coach purse from the shop next door on the way in. Well, they shouldn't have those things just sitting in the window like that. So husbands and boyfriends, BEWARE! Our meal was just as fabulous, though. Here's what we had: APPETIZERS - Started off with the Medjool Dates. These were sitting in a delicious pepper sauce with house-made chorizo. Very good. SIDE - We opted for the Spicy Shrimp Risotto as a side, even though I could've just eaten this as my entrée. Holy moly, was it packed with flavor! Perfect risotto consistency too, and not overly spicy so you could enjoy it without it killing your tastebuds. ENTREES - Hubby chose the Pistachio Halibut and he literally could not stop eating it. He said it was cooked perfectly, and the broth of crab, tomato, leek and shrimp was just delicious. For my entrée, I went with the Truck Stop Style Meatloaf, which seems like such a "normal" thing to order at a nice restaurant, but this was just heavenly. It was a HUGE portion too - and really hard to make yourself stop eating it. The carmelized onion on top was perfection. DESSERT - We split the Coconut Tres Leche cake, and let me just say it was the most amazing dessert I'd had in a while. Just wonderful. Cold, moist cake - felt so good going down! Delicious coconut flavor accompanied by a yummy caramel sauce. Get this! Overall, we loved everything about this place. This marks my third trip to Stonehorse. I love this café and their food is always outstanding. I love shopping at Utica Square and will always take the opportunity to eat here when I am in Tulsa. Our server was Jenny and she was wonderful. She had great suggestions and took great care of us. The menu sounded so delicious that we had trouble deciding - Crabcakes, meatloaf, mussels, crab salad, ravioli - so many delicious items to choose from. The table next to us seated three very entertaining and friendly guests. Luckily we had the chance to survey their choices and they highly recommended the mussels and the meatloaf. We also opted to try the ravioli in a broth base with chicken. OK let's talk about the bread. It is so rustic and crunchy and warm on the outside and chewy and delicious on the inside. We started with bread and then dipped it in the mussel broth. The mussels are a must! Served with melted butter. Their 'truckstop style' meatloaf reminded me of a creative version of shepherds pie layered with mashed potatoes carrots, peas and a savory slice of meatloaf floating on top. Delicious comfort food. Dined here on a Saturday for lunch. The waitress was short in responses and kind of a flat, I don't want to be here attitude. But she brightened up as our meal went by, so maybe just a bad morning for her. I ordered a cocktail to start. Cucumber fizz. Their version is Cucumber Vodka, St. Germain, and some ginger ale. It was extremely ordinary. I kept thinking this taste like something you throw together in a pinch. Typically a Cucumber fizz is sparkling water with simple syrup instead of ginger ale. I started with the Lobster Bisque. You could barely call it Lobster Bisque. It should have been called Pepper Bisque; whatever lobster was supposed to be in it was substituted with black pepper. I love black pepper. But this was so overpowering it burned my throat. My girlfriend ordered the Arugula and Herb salad which came with Lemon/Olive Oil dressing. She couldn't finish it. All you could taste was lemon on the entire thing. $8 for some arugula and olive oil is pretty ridiculous. The duck pate is listed as an appetizer, but I ordered it as my lunch entree. It was average. I saw people kept ordering pizza and they looked really good. I might give them another shot when in town. read more

This restaurant has extremely excellent food. The food is so great, it could compete with anything served in France. We've had the mussels which were so fantastic we are every single one. This restaurant is known for changing up the menu which I love. You won't see the same thing every time. The service is wonderful. Servers have an excellent knowledge of what's on the menu and what wine to pair it with. I do like there are options for people counting calories and the server will happily help. I didn't give five stars because the seating is cramped and can be awkward. Outside in good weather is a great option. read more

The decor and ambiance of the restaurant signifies midtown Tulsa with it's fast paced and uptown vibe. the menu is always seasonal and the chef seems to get it right. I have never had a bad meal or experience here. The french onion soup, brussell sprout salad, and the truck stop meatloaf are some of my favorite dishes. I live within walking distance to here so I really enjoy coming here for a quick lunch or nice dinner a couple of times a week. Top notch! read more

Love this place! Attentive service lovely modern feel, relaxed but sophisticated.i like a place with white tablecloths. The food is fresh and made on site, not chain packaged items. The onion soup is wonderful and the lobster bisque was to die for. Brussel sprout salad was perfectly dressed and enough to share. I had the crab cakes and they are among the best I've had...no detected filler and came with a perfectly dressed baby green salad. Filet came cooked perfectly to order and came with several veggies. The pasta is house made and perfectly cooked and the sausage was yummy. Patio seating out front for nice weather. It can get a little noisy if there are partying people there, the tables are close. No reservations, we were lucky to get a table in the early evening. Very nice atmosphere, upscale, but still comfortable, the artsy decor adds to the unique atmosphere. Our server was very helpful, knowledgeable about the menu, and friendly. 1st rate. We started with a Caesar Salad and it was perfect. Fresh crisp greens with just right amount of dressing and other ingredients. The bread served with the meal was very good, cut thick and more than enough for two. Entrees: I had the Roasted Garlic Ravioli. Served with Butternut Squash, Maple- Brown Butter, walnuts, and (I think) cranberries. I have to tell you, the aroma alone was so amazing I would order it again just for that reason! The combination of the maple brown butter sauce, squash, walnuts etc , was perfection! This dish is now in my top three (ever) best entrees! My husband had the wood roasted duck , it came with pureed carrots and gnocchi. He said it was delicious and the duck was cooked perfectly.
