With Stone Horse being a Tulsa staple for years, we knew we needed to head over there and try it. It's definitely a favorite for good reason. The menu was unexpected yet alluring with comfort and complex rolled into one. Dishes typical like a burger and fries were beautifully elevated in Stone Horses' own way. The focaccia appetizer was to die for! Pillowy on the inside yet light and crisp on the outside. With the cheese and herbs they served with it made it positively decadent. A word of caution, it is extremely filling and with just the two of us I had to muster my self control to stop eating it. Our service was so helpful, informative and made conversation but not overly so. This used to be one of my favorite places to stop for dinner. The menu is fantastic, and the food has always been flavorful and well prepared. Unfortunately, the quality of the service has declined significantly. During our most recent visit, our server rarely checked on us, and we waited over 30 minutes for a salad. We eventually had to ask the hostess if she could check on it for us. When our server finally brought the salad, she told us, "I thought you wanted your appetizer first, and I have another table, so someone else is going to take care of you." The interaction felt unnecessarily dismissive, particularly after we had already been waiting so long with very little attention or communication. To make matters worse, after the long wait and confusion, we were ultimately brought the wrong order. The second server who took over our table was much kinder and more attentive, which we appreciated, but by that point the overall experience had already been disappointing. If I could leave zero stars, I would. This wasn't just bad service, it was a complete failure in communication and leadership. We had a reservation, arrived on time, and were told our table wasn't ready. It was a beautiful evening and we weren't in a rush, so no issue there. When an outdoor table opened up, we waited for it to be cleared. My husband went back inside to let the hostesses know we'd be sitting outside instead, and they said that was fine. I had actually tried to reserve an outdoor table earlier and was told they were first-come, first-served, so this seemed perfectly reasonable. Unfortunately, things quickly went downhill. A waitress came out and told us we couldn't sit there. We explained the situation, and she became visibly irritated and went inside. Another staff member came out and insisted we hadn't checked in at the hostess stand. When I explained again that we had, she repeatedly implied we were lying, even stating she had been at the stand. Both my husband and I had spoken to the hostesses, so this was confusing and frankly inappropriate. I firmly offered to go inside to clear it up with the hostesses, but she continued to question our honesty. At that point, my husband asked her to be nice, and she walked away. Meanwhile, the guests at the table next to us commented on how poorly we were being treated, which validated how strange the situation felt. We befriended them and talked and laughed while we waited. 20 minutes - no menus or drinks. My husband went inside and asked for a manager. 30 minutes - nothing. 40 minutes - still nothing. When I asked a server, she told me the manager was the same person I had "yelled at" (which was actually kind of humorous because though I was firm, I did not yell). She then told us the only other option was to speak to the owner, adding that he would likely just ask us to leave. At that point, we called a friend who is a well-known and respected local chef. He said this experience didn't surprise him and described ongoing issues with the owner/chef at Stonehorse. He stated, "He's a talented chef, but has horrible management and customer service skills." Interestingly, the regulars sitting next to us said the same. This location is in Utica Square on the corner, there are lots of options for parking. We were able to get a table quickly. It is a smaller restaurant but they use the space well. There is some fun decor. The service was great, our waitress was excellent. She stayed on top of drinks, was great with checking in and recommending items. The food was really good. The group tried a variety of items, I loved the salmon - it was light the broth was yummy. The truffle fries were so good and it was a huge order even sharing with the table, it has to be taken to go. This is my first impression of Stonehorse Cafe. So far, it is my favorite place to eat in Utica Square. Once in a while, creativity leads to great innovation. Most of the time, this is not the case. Fortunately, the kosher chicken ravioli is awesome. Stonehorse Cafe has a daily Tim's pick that changes from day to day. On this particular day, I am so happy I took risk and tried the kosher chicken ravioli which is the most unique ravioli you'll ever have. I love the restaurant, but a super fan of their market! It's not big but the selection is wonderful. I am obsessed with their southwest avocado wrap...it's so good. I typically eat half and save the other half for another meal. I bought their everything crosswind recently and put their egg salad on it and it was so delicious! As follows: 1- we were seated in the back corner, directly next to 3 things: (A) a service station where silverware gets wrapped up, lots of manager/server discussions happening, much back and forthing; (B) the server locker cabinet where we got to witness the change in server times, lots of body spraying, discussions, purses put in/out. I like to make it to Stone horse Café about once a quarter. Good lunch or dinner spot for higher end food in Utica square. Great date night spot if you don't might medium noise level as the tables are in rather close proximity. If you love dates you must try the wood roasted medjool dates. It's served a healthy size of burrata, pesto & olive oil. Great appetizer for four people to try or two people if you're hungry and absolutely love incredible fresh warm bread as it's cut into four pieces. I almost always get the beef tenderloin steak, which is served with goat cheese on top. (Must try if you're obsessed w steak like myself) I don't think I've ever tried a dessert here, but I can imagine that they are very good. For cocktails they make a good espresso martini and if you're looking for something refreshing the "in good spirits" always hits the spot for me. It is a reposado tequila cocktail with muddled rosemary, grapefruit, st Germaine & egg whites. (I'm typically not a grapefruit in the drink person. But they know what they're doing with this) I think it has some other ingredient as well but it's escaping me. This is a popular Tulsa restaurant so it tends to fill up quickly. Sometimes it seems like the servers are a little short staffed or overwhelmed. I would say I've never had a "bad experience" here, but some servers are better than others. Everything was real bright and we were immediately welcomed. Looked at their menu and it had a very solid menu. Seemed like a French inspired menu. Ordered Potato's, Tuna Tartare, Mussels and & Brussel Sprouts to start out. It was all good. I ordered their Wood Roasted Long Island Duck Breast w/ Duck Sausage and Shrimp Risotto. Amazing. Our recent visit was much better than our last visit (10 months ago). Primarily due to the service. The food is consistently very good. This visit, we started with dumplings which were very tasty. They were slightly browned on one side and served over a sesame seed oil/ soy sauce mixture. I had the salmon and my wife had the duck. Both were very good; however, a couple of bites of duck were grisly. The salmon was served over stalks of asparagus and a side of more dumplings in the same sauce. I knew this when ordering and the server mentioned, but I went ahead. Maybe too much of a good thing. I won't do that again. The real star of the evening was the service. The server was new, but eager to provide excellent service. She did miss a couple of things and I was about to wave down the floor manager when she showed up. The manager must have seen me looking his way so he came on over, helped the new server out and discreetly kept an eye on our table the rest of the meal.
