This was such a pleasant surprise. Have been in Gloucester 20 years and never have heard of this hidden gem. Cozy little hideaway pub, great service, and wonderful food. My husband had a burger which was delicious down to the detail of the virgillios roll and I had a Reuben. I always get a Reuben when we frequent a pub and this was delicious to the fresh bun and coleslaw and sweet potato fries! Can't wait to bring my "kids" back when they visit home! Hands down my favorite place in Gloucester to go and just relax and hang out. Whether we're mucking it up with friends at the bar, watching the Bruins or Celtics, playing scrabble or apples to apples, destroying nachos and burgers (and beers), or I dunno, just to pop in and say hey, I straight up love this place. Stone's Pub has everything you could ever want in a local pub! 1. It is a stone's throw away from everything that Gloucester has to offer. 2. The bartender was wonderful! Ryan told us about all of the best things to do in Gloucester, introduced us to a few other patrons, and kept the conversation rolling. 3. The owner, Gary, was amazing and truly loves his town and his bar. He even gave us his coconut macaroon recipe! 4. John, the cook, was the kind of guy who took pride in everything he served up. We ordered up a serving of their pulled pork nachos. And this NC girl was impressed! He took the same care with every other meal that I saw him prepare. Overall, this bar takes great pride in being the kind of place that you can kick back and relax. The food is pub fare but done very well and cooked with the kind of love and care that you can taste. Great place for a sandwich and beer. It is a small place, but the sandwiches are DELICIOUS and the service is great. I also here the desserts are a must- this is still on my to-do. The ingredients tasted very fresh and sauces were homemade. Prices very reasonable, and they always make sure your drink is full. Overall, my kind of place. read more

Came in today for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. I had the bowl of mac and cheese without bacon and my boyfriend had one of the specials - grilled chicken sandwich buffalo style with sweet potato fries. Both were really good and cheap. We went on a Friday night on a whim. We walked in and didnt see any available seats but the bar tender was quick in setting us up at a large table in the back normally reserved for large parties (there were only 3 of us). It was great! We are from out of town and struck out at a few local restaurants. We decided we just wanted some good bar food and decided to go to Stones Pub based on other reviews and location. We were pleasantly surprised as the food was much better than standard bar food, and actually was better than any of the other the other food we had in Gloucester. The service was amazing and our bartender, Jamie, was attentive and made us feel right at home. There was also an impressive dessert menu, we had Kahlua chocolate cake with bourbon mousse which was fantastic.They also had a great drink menu that included more than just your standard beer and mixed drinks. We will definitely be back again. Try the bacon mac and cheese and the pulled pork... you won't regret it! Such a wonderful little stumble this afternoon. I used to frequent the bar across the street, but after being repeatedly disappointed there, but was so delighted at the atmosphere when I walked into Stone's. My boyfriend and I ordered drinks from the lovely bartender/server, and the bar was packed with what seemed to be regulars. As we struggled to understand the rules of the game we picked up (Shut the Box--now a favorite), our server explained it to us with great kindness and humor. Chowder, albeit a little cold, was yummy. I have has take out from here twice and both were super great. Fast service, super friendly staff, and cute inside. You should not be surprised to find locals in here. I give it 3 stars since the food is quite average. I got a Warren's and a Reuben. Both were average, my fries were also average. My co-worker swore the fries tasted like plastic. Almost like a small unnoticeable piece of plastic fell in the fryer and there was a faint taste/smell on the fries. The mac and cheese was pretty good though! I just can't seem to give it 4 stars since everything about it is so average. read more

Found Stone's Pub based on a Yelp review and this place was amazing! Our waiter (Jamie) was one of the best I've ever had anywhere. The food was great and our bill was only $35 for 3 people, and that included 3 full meals and an appetizer. The bacon cheese fries were LEGIT! I had a few friends speak highly of this place so I wanted to try it. Albeit it was during Fiesta! We do a bar crawl all weekend so I put this on our list. As far as I knew, last call in Gloucester was 12:30. We left Mitch's at 11:40 looking to hit Stones. Walked in a bit before midnight. Door was open and there were people inside. We walked up to the bar and the bartender immediately yelled at us! "We're done! Like everyone else is in town! Closed, go!" Wow, um...so maybe on this end of Main Street it was but not down by fiesta! Next time I'll stay put or hit the Franklin for last call. Even if that was indeed the case, there was no need to be that rude! I'm not a tourist, I'm a local. And this local will be taking her big group and money elsewhere!!! read more

I was on site yesterday for the first time. This place is awesome. great casual pub atmosphere, locals, ice cold draft beer (rare these days), and one of the most delicious handmade burgers I have had in a very long time. Combine all of this together and this place is a must, and I know I will be returning in the future as I am frequently in Glowsta. This is my kind of place. No fuss. Great food. Clean. Went last night. The service was okay. The lay out in the building makes it hard for the service to be good because the waitress has to walk half a mile to serve people. The waitress last night wore heels and does not need to. It's makes it harder to serve people and make it slow. The food was good for the price. The coconut cake was spectacular though. read more

Not quite sure why this place has suh a high rating. I will give it that the service was very good and that the staff was friendly but other than that it was nothing short of average. It's posted that they are good for groups and kids, but that is not the case. The seating is limited. I had the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. Hubby had the Reuben. Both were just ok.
