I was incredibly fortunate to land a same-day appointment when my workday unexpectedly cleared out. I was trying to go back to a super short cut I had years ago. Mercedes was lovely and helped me attempt to articulate what I was asking for. It had been quite a while since I'd been in a salon chair so I was struggling to clarify what I wanted changed after the first cuts were made. Rather than let me walk out less than 100% satisfied (which I totally would have done and said nothing about), she called in some back up. Julie asked some clarifying questions and made some changes that completely transformed the look into exactly what I had in mind. Both women are skilled artists! I absolutely loved their communication, team work, and readiness to ask for and provide help to one another! No egos, no awkwardness. Not enough can be said about this place. I've seen Cat now for several years and am now ruined, because I'd be afraid to ever let anyone else do my hair. She is absolutely a master of her craft. The entire experience is collaborative, and she is SO receptive to hearing thoughts/concerns/indecision, and helps provide such amazing guidance over what to do from a color perspective. My hair has never looked better and I've never had such amazing compliments. Also, she's just an amazing human being and is such a warm person to work with. I also had a skin consultation with Haley, and wow. Such a similar experience to Cat. So knowledgeable and provided incredible guidance for how to address some concerning issues that have arisen for my skin. You never feel like you're being "sold" to do something just for the sake of their business, and quite the opposite in fact. I came in for a haircut and a partial lightening a few weeks ago. This was my third time at this salon, and I really, really wanted to love this place. The service is always fantastic and I love supporting local, women-owned businesses. I also thought my haircut was fantastic. However my latest hair coloring experience was beyond disappointing. At the beginning of the appointment, we discussed strawberry-blonde/rose-gold ish coloring based on the inspiration photos (on the right) but I walked out of the salon with literally hot pink hair. This color (on the left) is after my first post-dye shower, and two and a half weeks later, I still have pink in my hair. Not to mention that my hair now feels super dry and fried especially at the ends. This is not what I expected for $400. So now I'm just waiting for the pink to fade while I look around for a new salon. read more

I visited Flourish today for the first time post COVID reopen. I have been going to flourish for years. Olivia is my current esthetician and she is fantastic. So friendly and positive and does great work. She makes getting an eye brow wax enjoyable and relaxing even. She truly goes the extra mile. I have seen a few other estheticians over the years and I have always had positive experiences. I wanted to write this review to share some of their COVID practices that made me feel super safe. First, You wait in your car and they come out and grab you when they are ready for you. They ask you to wash your hands right away. Olivia was wearing a mask + shield + goggles. And everyone else was wearing PPE as well. They even had some plastic dividers up to create distance for their hair clients. In the spa room, they had a washable mat down on the table - which was great! I wore my mask while getting my eyebrows done and then when getting my lip waxed, removed my mask but we both intentionally didn't talk during that time. For check out - they email you an invoice, so you don't even have to pass over your card! They have hand sanitizer available - and even some to purchase! I really didn't want to write this but I've had time to think about my experience and consider the status of my hair .... and I need to let others know. I went to Flourish to see Lynda in late July. Online appointment system seemed fine. Overall process wasn't smooth. Check in was awkward because they don't read notes until check in.... (had booked in advance). Stylist did & didn't listen.... got a color I was fine with but felt like she left the dye on way too long. Heat was too hot during blow dry; I didn't say anything because I'm bad at confrontation but my scalp was burning when she did the blow out. There was no communication that an heat protector product was used. Once she finished & I got to the counter I said "great, what do I owe you?" I was so ready to get out of there because I knew the damage had been done. Makes me wonder - my stylist in Orlando never caused any noticeable damage during blow drys and didn't use high/hot heat. Now, a couple months later, it's very apparent that 25% of my hair was broken during the dye/blow dry. I'm so sad. My hair looks so HORRIBLE. I've been meaning to write Haley a review for so long! She's absolutely amazing. I go to her monthly for a Brazilian sugar and I've never felt more comfortable with any other Brazilian sugar service (for fair reason, it's so painful!) But Haley definitely takes care to minimize the pain and is so thoughtful about the customer's experience. She'll check in to make sure you are not in too much pain and apply pressure to help ease it. I've never had any problems afterwards with ingrown hairs or redness. I did find a great spot in Phoenix, but most of my time is in Seattle so finding Flourish near my house in West Seattle was a lucky strike! This is a small local woman owned salon that offers a full line of services in a cozy settling. Being able to book online is super convenient. I see Cat for cut and color services. She's done a fabulous job with foils and balayage while fixing my hair to recover from from some mishaps in my struggle to find a go to person. I couldn't be happier and I won't go anywhere else. Very cute salon with good lighting, lots of street parking, and when I was there I was greeted by an adorable dog named Winnie! I really went for Karie though, she's been dyeing my hair for five years and I'm happy every single time I leave her chair, she is also so patient with me and my habit of switching between brunette and blonde several times a year. I have never experienced such condescending management and ownership. I had straightened my hair for the first time a little over a week after I got my haircut. The hair looked unnatural, choppy and uneven, when I specifically asked for long layers. I called 3 times on 11/17 and left a voicemail around noon to ask to fix my haircut. I called again the following day, and I left a voicemail also around noon. I called again at 2pm and a woman responded, saying that she was waiting to hear back from the stylist and that's why she didn't respond. She also mentioned that the stylist who did my hair was fully booked for a long time, suggesting it would be hard for me to get my hair fixed. I told her that I felt really bad about my hair and wanted to get it fixed, or else I'd look for it elsewhere. She told me to send her pictures, and when I did, she said that Cat, the stylist, was with a client and is aware, and would get back to me. When she did not by the evening, I sent an email at 7:25pm demanding a refund because I wanted a place with a sense of urgency to fix my hair, which I have felt really uncomfortable with. I just got a response from the owner (quoted below), which was accusing me of being demanding, saying she will only give me a 30%, and saying that they are not a right fit for me, therefore NOT even proposing an option to fix my hair despite them not giving me a refund. Also, she accused me of not understanding their industry's standards, and obviously I don't.... I am a customer who is not in the industry. I want everyone to be aware of how condescending and passive-aggressive the owner Tiann is, and also how their idea of customer service is blaming the customer, who, mind you, spent $75 plus a tip on a service. In addition, although she is defending Cat, Cat told me on the day of my haircut 11/9/19, that she would text me to schedule my keratin, since she had another client right after me. It has been 10 days and I have received NO text. So clearly lack of communication goes beyond their 24-48 hour window, yet they choose to accuse their customers of being "demanding". I HIGHLY recommend that everyone read the owner, Tiann's, message below - Good Morning, "Hello I'm Tiann and I'm the owner of Flourish Beauty. I cannot offer you a full refund. We absolutely do our best at communication with our clients and wanting them to be happy with there services. Cat had planned to call you back this morning as she works 10 hour shifts on sunday and monday and is fully booked out until March. She did not have to time to reach out to you until now. We understand you are not happy with your hair, and with our clients we always want to fix it if this happens. Unfortunately you are demanding and seem to be not understanding of how this industry works with a 24-48 hours follow through with communication. We have years of experience and all of our stylist are professional and so great at what they do. I do not feel we are the right fit for you. I will refund you 30% of your service today. In fact now my teen son and fiancé see her for seasonal facials. I get sugaring, brow wax, brow tint, and facials on the regular. She uses eminence products, which are sooooooo good!!! I always leave Nicole feeling 25 again, and that is no feat edging closer and closer to 40, mother of three, blah, blah, blah! Let's just set the stage here: I have a mane. Not the mane on a My Little Pony. No, we're talking a straight up Chewbaca, Mufasa, thick like Aslan from Narnia mane. I've grown up most of child and adult life feeling ashamed of it whenever I needed anything done with my hair. I have had no problem being charged extra, but honestly, most stylists would love it if I wasn't a repeat customer. I booked an appointment with Ashley and left feeling great! Not only did she stay late for me, she did a great job with my head o' hair. In addition to there being a lot of it, I have had a lot of damage done to my hair by other hair stylists (and myself) and she completely restored it! I just had a great facial with Hayley (who just got her license). She obviously learned some great techniques (from someone who has had lots of experience over the years) - from massaging my scalp, arms and releasing the tension in my cranium (lifting your neck/spine to realign) and the facial part - OMG, my skin was so soft (several days after - even through showers AND sweating). Definitely going back for more. I recommend you give Hayley a chance and add to her clientele. Besides the salon is WAY cute too (I want some of their decor) and happily I got some of the great products she used on me. Critical: Professionalism I made an appointment at Flourish at the end of February for March 19. Due to covid, the salon closed on 3/17. I was never reached out to via phone or email about my appt, but just figured it was cancelled due to current circumstances. I have been following on Instagram for updates for the last 90 days. I reached out via Instagram about 30 days ago to see how they're going to be prioritizing rescheduling clients. I got a response from their owner Tiann saying that the only "fair" way to reschedule months worth of appointments would be based on who had scheduled appointments closest to closing date and they'd move down the list based on that. I was scheduled 2 days after the closing date. I was told that being a new client would not affect my ability to get in because I had an appt scheduled prior. Fast forward to the last couple days of instagram stories, my how the story has changed! Posts saying "stylists would be reaching out to their clients to start rescheduling and working their way down the list." The next post says "we are not taking new hair clients at this time." I reach out once again asking if I'm considered a new client per the post? I get a response that says, "I just chatted with Kelly and she is almost done rebooking her regulars-she can't get you in until August." This is exactly what I was told would not happen. They prioritized their schedule not based on fair practices, but strictly on preferential treatment for the regulars. I understand they are working at limited capacity under strict conditions, with woman who haven't gotten their hair done in 3 months. However, considering my appt was for 2 days after covid closure and I was told it would be based on only that, so why August? Very unprofessional with communication and treating other clients equally as the "regulars" I do not know if it was Tiann that responded to me today, but she is the one that handles their social media. She was very defensive, wished me well and I found that extremely passive aggressive. read more
