I love this place! I have stayed here a few times now in all of the different Yurts. I haven't had a bad experience yet. If you want quiet, peaceful, secluded, and beautiful views this is the place for you! I come here to ground myself and find my peace when I am totally overwhelmed and going to many directions. One of my all time favorite places to get away from the city and just unplug for a few days! The quite peacefulness here is unlike anything you will ever experience. The stunning Mountain View's and abundance of nature all around you is magical. Not to mention the hot tub that is standard with each yurt. This place was amazing! It is the perfect little weekend getaway that is located in a small town in Arkansas. I live in Northwest AR so it was fairly close for me, which made this even better. The key word above is "small town". There is not much to do in the town of Chester but one can drive to a nearby bigger town like Alma or Fort Smith, or drive North to NWA. The way I look at it, on my relaxing weekend getaway I simple want to relax, and not be busy doing things and spending more money. My boyfriend and I planned a weekend get away over Christmas break. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly front desk lady who checked us in and provided helpful information. The office supplies DVD's you can borrow to watch while you are there. We did not end up getting one but we loved the fact that the option was there and for no extra cost! As soon as I walked inside the Yurt I fell in love with it. It had everything we could've needed that weekend. A kitchen with all we needed to cook with, we of course brought our own food. There was a small furnace inside that did an excellent job of keeping us warm the whole time. The yurt was very clean and well kept. The bed was comfortable and there was a TV for your pleasure. Each Yurt has its own deck that wraps around about half the building, which is covered for privacy. There is a hot tub on each yurt deck. Ours looked out into the mountains and was beautiful to relax and admire nature. I would (and have) recommend this to others. read more

My daughter was looking for a place to hold her wedding and she was told about this place. We made an appointment to check it out. When my wife and arrived with our two grandchildren we were a little early and the person we were meeting was busy so we were asked to wait outside. That was fine with us because my daughter hadn't arrived yet. We got out of the car and started looking around. Let me explain this place. There was a medium sized office and no other building we could see, and we could see a lot of land. None of us walked more than 50 feet from the car when a lady came out and asked us to keep the kids close to the car so they wouldn't disturb the other guests. What other guests? It turned out there are "cabins" somewhere on the property and children are not allowed in them. They didn't want a guest to hear a child and get offended. I'm not kidding, they actually said that. When we finally started talking about holding the wedding I knew immediately that this was not the place for us. It turns out that you must rent every one of their cabins plus the banquet room. The amount of money was too much to rent a pasture with a no frills building and a bunch of "cabins" that are in the middle of nowhere at the end of a rutted out dirt trail. No thanks. My favorite part of the whole thing was when we were showed around the building. One of my grandchildren pointed at a 4 foot tall golden pyramid and asked what it was. He was at least 10 feet away but the lady freaked out. She practically screamed for him not to touch it. She proceeded to tell us that it was very expensive. It seriously looked like PVC pipe that had been spray painted gold. It was a joke that only a new age hippy trying to channel their inner chi would take serious. read more

Peaceful and lovely place to unwind and enjoy nature. The yurt has everything we needed. The gas fireplaces are lovely and the hot tubs are wonderful. If you have a choice bring a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Especially if the weather is wet or snowy. The gravel roads are steep and bumpy. read more

StoneWind Retreat is one of the best resorts I have ever been to. I wasn't looking for fancy. I was looking for comfortable and secluded, which is exactly what I got. Right in the middle of the Ozark, StoneWind is surrounded by beautiful scenery, staffed by the kindest people. I am absolutely in love with the whole atmosphere surrounding this place, and I would highly recommend this retreat for anyone looking for a private getaway involving beautiful nature, hot tubs, and privacy. read more

I happened to find this place randomly searching through Google. The fiance and I stayed here two nights recently and had a great time. As the website says there is central air, which was running when we got there at about 69 which felt amazing after being outside in the 90+ degree heat. Front desk staff had our paperwork ready to go and gave a brief rundown of what we were signing and they have a large selection of DVD's to choose from if you plan on staying in one night. We took 5 throughout our stay brought them all back on the last day without issue. The hot tub worked great as well and the water was clean as well. Staff drove us to where we were staying and gave us a quick tour of the yurt and explained some of the features and amenities. None of our neighbors were loud or caused any issues during our stay. The fully furnished kitchen was a nice touch as well, they provided, cups, plates, silverware, crock pot, toaster, fridge, etc and everything was clean and ready for the occupants to use. To get to the main office where one checks in requires a drive up a rather bumpy gravel road. We ended up taking my car (corolla) and didn't have any issues making it up or down. A truck or suv would have been a bit smoother perhaps but we didn't blow a tire or anything so I was happy. In the top center there is a fan hanging and there isn't anything blocking the light coming through, so if you are a person who requires complete darkness to sleep after the sun comes up I would bring something to cover your eyes. Bugs were not an issue either, I think we only saw one June bug inside. The staff do an amazing job keeping the place clean and prepping for the next guests. The only (small) issue we had was birds (crows specifically, I think) at 6:30 a.m. sharp on both days would sing the song of their people for about 30 minutes and then fly away. Understandably, we were in it's area so not much could be done. We had a small fan that ran while we were sleeping and still heard it over the blades whirring. We had #1 I do believe which is one of the higher ones and don't have any major complaints. It was a bit on the pricey side (159ish per night), but for everything that was included we don't feel as though staying a couple nights will break the bank and it didn't deter from our rating. read more

We had a great time our first night. Until one of the staff showed up to our door the next morning and immediately started making accusations about the hottub. Saying we "contaminated the water" and that we would have to pay to have it fixed. Thing is, and we tried to explain this to this staff member, we NEVER GOT IN THE HOTTUB! She refused to listen and just continued to say that it most definitely had to be something we did. She started pacing the porch and shaking and mumbling to herself so we politely excused ourself, packing our things and quickly left the property. read more
