She is loving, smart, somewhat obedient (our fault) and just about the best dog we've ever had. Lynn and Jim use science to breed healthy, predictable F-1 puppies but it's the love that makes the difference. Their warmth and love for the puppies starts their lives so positively that I have never heard of one of their puppies growing up to be anything but and extraordinary dog.

I am writing this review in hopes that I can ease someone else's mind with the assurance from my own positive experience with Linda's petsitting services. She will pick your pet up and drop him or her off if need be. She will sit your pet in your home, your hotel accommodation, or at her own house up above Napa Valley. She's conveniently located near all of Napa's hotels, and is willing to drive if need be. She will follow feeding and walking instructions to the most minute detail, and I even saw her taking notes on her pad when I was giving her even the most basic instructions just to make sure she got them perfectly right. With all of this, she is also infinitely kind... and reasonably priced... and sweet. She will send you updates via text or email if you want, including a photo or two of how your pet is adjusting while you're gone. My little Keesh didn't just tolerate her time with Linda-- she had a great time as though she was on her own little vacation!

Congenital Elbow Dysplasia…read more It is with deep disappointment that I find myself writing this review. This review is not based on my puppy's genetic elbow dysplasia, as such conditions can occur through no fault of the breeder. Rather, it reflects my experience with how Kentfield Kennels handled the situation after being informed. In January 2024, we purchased a four-month-old started puppy from Kentfield Kennels. Her parents were Kentfield's Benelli Super Black Eagle ("Ben") and Kentfield's I'm a Barbie Girl ("Barbie"). The day after bringing her home, we noticed an abnormality in her gait. Concerned, we took her to our veterinarian the following day. Ultimately, we were referred to an orthopedic specialist, who performed X-rays and a CT scan. The diagnosis was devastating: bilateral medial coronoid remodeling and left elbow osteoarthritis--findings consistent with congenital elbow dysplasia. Given the severity of the condition, our orthopedic veterinarian recommended bilateral elbow arthroscopy. Our puppy underwent arthroscopic surgery on both elbows, followed by eight weeks of complete rest and 12 weeks of rehabilitation therapy. Despite these efforts, her prognosis remains guarded. As our orthopedic veterinarian explained: "While surgery will improve the puppy's current comfort and ambulation, her elbows will never be normal. The cartilage lesions secondary to elbow dysplasia will progress over time, and her osteoarthritis will likely require long-term management with pain medication and lifestyle modifications." I share this review for two important reasons: Transparency for Future Owners - If you are considering purchasing a puppy from Kentfield Kennels, particularly one bred from Ben and/or Barbie, you deserve to have this genetic history so you can make an informed decision about the risks and potential costs. Understanding Your Rights - California Health and Safety Code Sections 122045-122110, also known as the Polanco-Lockyer Pet Breeder Warranty Act (or "The Puppy Lemon Law"), provides protections for buyers in situations like ours. When I informed Kentfield Kennels of our puppy's diagnosis and requested they comply with the Puppy Lemon Law, I was met with resistance at every turn. I sent them three letters, provided all of our puppy's medical records, and included a declaration from our orthopedic specialist. Even after an independent veterinarian of their own choosing confirmed that our puppy had congenital elbow dysplasia, they refused to comply with the law. Left with no other option, I retained an attorney. Despite legal correspondence, they continued to refuse. Only after I formally filed suit did they finally agree--within just four hours of being served--to comply with the law and reimburse us for a portion of our puppy's medical expenses. We love our puppy dearly. She is intelligent, loving, and has an incredible personality. Writing this review is not something I wanted to do. However, both our primary and orthopedic veterinarians were unequivocal: this is a genetic condition. Despite having full knowledge of our puppy's diagnosis and the associated risks of breeding Ben and Barbie, as of the date of this posting, Kentfield Kennels has neither removed them from their breeding program nor acknowledged the issue. I feel I have no choice but to share this information so that others can be fully informed before making a decision.

Happy 8th Birthday Jakey-Bear!!…read more We adopted our tri-color aussie, Jake, from North Bay Canine in January 2001. We didn't have a choice because Ferghal had lost his tri-color Bernese Mountain Dog mate, and he picked Jake out of the dozen or more dogs we met to replace our irreplaceable Harry. We don't really know Jake's exact birthday, but it is around the beginning of April. Because he is a silly, zany, irreverent, frustrating and always entertaining cray cray herdin' dawg - we decided that his birthday MUST fall on April Fool's Day. Hollie, who runs NBCRP, sniffed us up, down and all around before she deemed us acceptable to bring home one of her beloved rescues. The girl does not play - she came and examined our home and our yard. She asked us all kinds of questions and then said she'd be back with the dog another day. We still hear from her periodically so she can be up to date on Jake's where abouts. She also has a policy that if for any reason, you are unable to keep your North Bay pup, she will take it back. But we would never give up our Jake. We ain't no fools.

She is super-thorough and sniffed us up and around before we got Carson, our flying dog:) It took us a year to find a match so plenty of experience with almost all Bay Area Rescue groups. North Bay Canine is unique and special and that is directly because of Hollie. Go Hollie! For all the dogs she's rescued.

I have known Odessa for years and have so much respect for her incredible personal commitment to dog rescue. Most of the dogs 'roam' freely in her house, learning to get along with other dogs and with people. Puppies (and moms) stay in the puppy palace (a charmingly converted and furnished garage space). Rescuing and adopting dogs is very hard and very expensive work, since many dogs who were neglected or abused require a lot of love, medical care, and training. Please take any 'negative' reviews with a big grain of salt. All of us who have to deal with the public understand how unreasonable and uncharitable some people can be. This is a truly extraordinary woman who makes great sacrifices to rescue and place dogs in the best possible homes. It's an uphill battle with so many people allowing their dogs to breed and dumping them on rescue. And with some adopters/lookers who can be disrespectful of the process around placing dogs. Very few of us could do this work day in and day out with no reward other than seeing dogs go to the right guardians. Thank you to everyone who supports and adopts from rescue, saves lives, and appreciates those doing the really hard work. And please consider fostering a little dog if you can. It's a rewarding experience being part of the pipeline to forever homes.

That was over 20 years ago. We have been adopting senior dogs from rescue organizations and shelters a lot since then. When we bring in a new senior, we always consult with Cathy what diet is needed for their particular issues. Many of our new adoptions have kidney, skin or liver issues. The diet Cathy creates has always helped get these dogs on a healthy path. All the dogs LOVE the food. And we feel good knowing that we are feeding the best there is to help them. Marie has an amazing setup, including a massive backyard that honestly feels like a private dog park. There's so much room for the dogs to run, play, and burn off energy in a safe, well supervised environment. After just one or two visits, I noticed a huge improvement in Callahan's behavior. He stopped jumping on people, which was something we had been working on. she also gives updates through her Instagram story so you can check on your pup throughout the day! One of my favorite things. Marie is incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and clearly understands dog behavior. She's also very affordable and offers training services as well, which I'm really interested in doing at some point. It's such a relief knowing my dog is happy, well cared for, and learning good habits at the same time. Highly recommend.
