Hello, I tried to return something WITH a receipt at the Santa Rosa Ave, CA location. The manager was rude and seemed to be racist. She declined my return. Her reason was because I had return something at the rohnert park location. I was not aware that it was against store policy to buy and return if I changed my mind or found better price or for any other reason at all. I mean if she doesn't want my business that is fine. She could have taken my return and told me I was no longer welcome at her store ( like if she owned the store haha) . I will contact corporate and maybe they will help me with my return. It won't let me give 0 stars so I have to give 1. But, understand I'd give 0 or even negative if I could. Went to adopt a cat. Was told to wait a few days to review the applications and we were the only ones interested in the cat. Come back a few days later as instructed to check on the status of our application. Was told we were approved and the cat was ours. I told them I will go collect the money and come back to get her. When I came back to get here the same day as I said I was going to they had given her to someone else. Extremely unprofessional. No one accepted responsibility for the massive errors in the process of adoption. Instead we get told "just get another cat." As if it's like grabbing the gallon of milk behind the one we were reaching for. We fell in love with that cat. We wanted her specifically. A simple "just get another one" is absolutely horrible. Completely unprofessional and unsympathetic to the situation that was caused by them. What they did was the equivalent of giving away a newborn to the wrong family and telling them to just choose another one from the nursery. No, I want my child! Just horrible and callous. We fell in love with GiGi and we prepared to bring her into our lives and love her for years to come and now we are heartbroken and given a disingenuous apology and a snarky "get a different one." read more

This PetSmart is conveniently located in the same shopping strip as Marshall's, Sports Basement, and Target (and shares a parking lot with Trader Joes and many more shops...suburbia!). I'm surprised to read all the negative reviews. I only went in to buy a crate and a few supplies for my puppy (note: we did not use the grooming services). Found a crate (a puppy den), a gate, a collar/harness/lead, and training treats. The treats, toys, food, and other supplies were all well-stocked. The employee at check-out was pleasant. The gate didn't work for us, so I went back a few days later to return it, and that was quick and easy. I definitely like to support the smaller local pet shops, but this was the right stop for a crate. Thanks! read more

This store is only successful in spite of themselves. Their customer service is so poor that I think they purposely look for employees lacking personality from crew to management. The groomers here are horrible. No idea what they are doing. Cut my dogs paw. Had to take her to emergency vet. Called store manager and she said no proof it happened here. She was perfectly fine before appt and then had a cut paw after so I would say that's enough proof. I did not notice the paw was injured until the next day but we went straight home after her appt so no way she injured it elsewhere. Horrible customer service, horrible company. I went in to buy a fish and a snake, and the worker near the pets, I think her name was Kelsey, was INCREDIBLY helpful! Because I wanted a friend, Kelsey advised me to get a bearded dragon instead, which is apparently much more friendly than a corn snake. She gave me advice on size of tanks for my now-happy animals, and how often I should care for them. Fred the fish and Barry the bearded dragon are so friendly and I will definitely get future animals from Kelsey again! read more

Brought my pup here after he was skunked and the groomer who did him (Sarah) was not great. She first didn't seem to know her dog breeds which is kind of a red flag since it's a dog breed based industry but I understand things happen. She said she couldn't help the skunk smell but every groomer I have met has some sort of de-skunk shampoo or odor remover. I also paid extra for the halloween package and we didn't receive anything from the package, no nail grind, no autumn spice spray, no bandana, no coupon book, and no teeth cleaning. I know my dog can be difficult but then just don't charge me for things that can't be done. She said she took off $10 but I still paid full price at the register and regret not saying something at the time. Super bummed my dog still smells and probably didn't get groomed that thoroughly. read more

Showed up for my 9am scheduled appointment and was told to come back because the groomer wouldn't be there till 9:30. I asked them to crate her and was told no. Every time I've scheduled an appointment there, there always seems to be a problem of some sorts. Talked to the store mgr and her attitude was horrible. I told her about the inconvenience and she had a meh I don't care attitude. I will never go there again. I would give zero stars if there was that option. read more

The dog groomers inside of the store. That's what this is about. I took my 1 year old Chihuahua in. I specifically told them that although she is getting washed etc, the main reason for her visit is to have her nails clipped (which is complimentary with the wash package I got). I was very clear with my request. One hour later, I went back to get her (I had been inside the store shopping for her) and I was told that they tried twice but my dog tried to bite him twice. I can't imagine this is the first time a dog that was brought in that didn't want its nails clipped. I can't believe they didn't have a muzzle for this sort of occasion. She just squirms too much for me when I have attempted to do it. I left very annoyed and will never return or use their services again. read more

Emma has groomed my two dogs before. I like the way she cuts my Yorkie-poo, I ask for the puppy cut and when I go back to pick him up he looks like a puppy again. This last time was a doozy, my not too bright pup got sprayed by a skunk. I washed him 3 times and it still was unpleasant. When I picked him up Emma really worked a miracle. Although, he still smells a little I can live with it. Anyone who grooms a dog that's been skunked is a saint in my book. Thanks Emma! read more

Had my dog's nails trimmed last week and it was a terrible job. Nails were too long. They were cut at different lengths and were hitting the floor. I had to pay my vet to fix at appt for items. $20 waste of time and money!! Will never use grooming at PetSmart again read more

Customer service fails again. We like to use small, local pet groomers but everyone is booked so far in advance that when we saw on Saturday evening that PetSmart had an opening for Sunday afternoon, we jumped at the chance for a fresh smelling pup. Walter is a German Shorthaired Pointer who loves outside and, even though he is a total inside dog, he almost always smells like a yard dog. We booked online and there was nowhere to upload vaccine records so we were just planning to take our digital ones in. We actually received a call from Ernest that we could come early so we did. I asked about the digital vaccine records and he said that was perfectly fine. When we got there the lady who I guess was in charge of checking us in, said in a snarky tone (the kind of tone that usually comes from someone unhappy with their life choices) said, "I see that Walter's rabies vaccine isn't up to date, I guess that's where you're coming from". Now, said a different way, maybe in a different tone, that statement *may* not have been offensive. HOWEVER, here's the problem: 1) No, Walter is always up on his vaccines because we take him so many places, we want him to be protected. YOU didn't provide a place to upload them. 2) No, we would never make an appointment at a place where he needed vaccines and not have them ahead of time. 3) No, we would not run and get him vaccinated JUST so he could get a bath at PetSmart. 4) You should not assume that pet owners are so lackadaisical with their pet's health because, to those of us who aren't, it's offensive. 5) And, also, know-it-alls are obnoxious and that wouldn't even be any of your business if we did. Anyway, we got the call to pick him up at the same time we got the text to pay online. The reason we didn't pay online is because we like to tip but, in order to do so, we want to see the finished product, you know? When we go in, we're told we have to pay before we get to see Walter, so obviously we don't tip, which is a shame. Ernest did a decent job and if we could have tipped afterwards we would have. That's just a terrible policy. I guess they don't use dog cologne, or may you have to request it, because, although he no longer smelled like a yard dog, he didn't smell fantastic either. We had to get his nails filed because he doesn't take as many walks on concrete anymore, it's mostly grass and sand so his nails got a little long. They did do that very well. For $50, we have a clean dog with shorter nails, but for $30 at our local dog groomer in La Mesa, we received wonderful, friendly service, a dog who smelled delicious for days and customer service that allowed us to see him before payment was ever spoken about. The short of it is, please use your local dog groomers. They know what they are doing, they care about you as a dog owner and their customer service is just so much better. Next time, we will wait the 2-4 weeks for an appointment. They get three stars because they did wash him and trim his nails; however, customer service has got to start being the priority for businesses. We work for our money and would rather give it to people who appreciate the opportunity to earn it. read more

Horrible grooming. Dog's skin was cut in multiple places, rope burns around his neck, and terrified when we picked up. Our dog liked going to the groomer before our experiences here. Never again. Service here is TERRIBLE. Grossly under-staffed ALL OF THE TIME. The staff who are here are basically incompetent. There is one older lady who works here who does a great job but the rest I would fire in a heartbeat. I've waited over 20 minutes to have someone show up to pull crickets out of the bin for me. It's gotten to the point where I don't even wait anymore. I go in and if nobody is around I help myself to the crickets I need. Then I take them to the register, the girl up there is too concerned with what she has going on on her phone to even acknowledge our presence. Um, hello?? Are you clocked in right now or do you just like taking your lunch at the open registers? I manage a 28 person team for a living, I walk in here I would fire every single person and start from scratch, STARTING WITH MANAGEMENT. Think I'll be going to pet club for my crickets from now on. They're actually staffed enough to get them for me and they have the species that last longer and don't chirp. Get it together because nobody is gonna be sad when you go out of business. read more

I went to this store yesterday and asked for a prescription cat food they had it in the back and the employee told me that they haven't put it out yet but said he'll put one in a box for me for aThursday but I told him I'll be out of town for the next 4 days so he took another employee back to stockroom and got one for me. One of the nicer Petsmarts. Every time I come in, I score deals and sales. This location always seems to great items offered. It's a very clean store, unlike the dirty Pet Club across the street. I actually enjoy coming to this Petsmart and their sales associates are knowledgale and happy. They're always smiling. :-) Petsmart in Santa Rosa is soooooooo much cleaner than the Rohnert Park location. Yes this is a newer store. Rohnert Park is so dim dark and outdated. This location it light bright and inviting. The store is well stocked and seem to have great deals at times! I was able to score a #40 blade for only $13. That is cheaper than wholesale. There were also toys, but 2 get 1 free. Scored some pill pockets for buy 1 get the other one for 50% off. I didn't need 2 bags of pill pockets but couldn't pass up that deal. I will use them for treats if anything else ? Yesterday we ran into a large male adolescent German Shepherd who was very very reactive. He continued to snarl and bark at us. The teenager didn't have a good handle on him. I took this as a wonderful training opportunity with my 3 dogs as I continued to click and treat......click and treat......click and treat over and over again for focused attention. I don't usually leave bad reviews but this is warranted. I have tried desperately to find capable groomers who are accepting new clients (after mine retired). I tried PetSmart several times and after several bad haircuts found Bre. But sadly, she didn't stay there long. The last time I took my dog in they did such a poor job I was livid. They shaved my standard poodle down after I had thoroughly combed him out and asked them to leave his legs longer. They left tufts of hair everywhere on his body. His pompadour was a joke--he looked like he had a hat box on his head. They didn't shave his feet, didn't trim his face and I had to spend time evening him out when he got home. Long story short, I invested the money I would pay to have my two dogs groomed to purchase clippers and a table and did him myself. He has a great kennel cut and looks better than anyone there has ever done him (other than Bre), and though time consuming, it wasn't that hard. I will never use them again!!! read more

The care for the bettas has drastically improved the last several times I visited this store! The employees at this location are very kind and understanding when I've expressed my concern over the fish. I was happy to see that the water is visibly cleaner and the fish look better. Once in a while you will find that one outstanding customer service person certain establishment And when that happens you have to speak up. On July 21, 2019 I had a main goal to go into Petsmart and purchase a flea collar and some flea medication for my dogs. At the register I didn't realized how much they cost and when the cashier told me my total I was in total shock. I had informed her that I couldn't afford all that so I had to put some stuff back. She then went online and price matched for me and helped me reduce the amount to where I could afford it. I can't believe she went out of her way just to do that. As some of you people may say that's part of their job. But this cashier stayed with me the whole entire time even though the store had closed. So I want to say to Priscilla,Thank you for the excellent customer service you gave me and for going the extra mile! This stores handling of the beta fish is horrific. These photos are from 7-11-19. Multiple fish are dead, one is even rotting away it has been dead so long. Multiple fish have bad algae growths in their small water cups. This store should be ashamed of its pet handling. These fish deserve better. I hope the management of this store is fired for the poor oversight. The employees clearly do not care about them. Pathetic. read more

I was surprised that they had none and that a staff member suggested I come back "closer to Halloween" but it was already something like the 18th of October... if they didn't have them by that time I'm guessing they weren't going to. I had such a wonderful experience with Petsmart and especially with Christian who gave me excellent customer service. He went above and beyond to make sure that my experience as a customer was a good one. I am spent an hour trying to make an online purchase and every time I tried to input the required info, the system wouldn't accept it. I later learned that there was a surge in the system as too many people were trying to order online at the same time. Yet I digress. I called the store and Christian answered. I explained to him the problems that I was having and he was kind enough to get on the computer and try to make the order for me but he to had the same problems that I did. Christian personally went and stocked the items that I needed. He didn't need to do that for me but could tell that I was a little bit stressed about not being able to get the things that I needed. Christian was so most helpful. Not only is he a wonderful representative of Petsmart, you can tell that he is a wonderful and kind human being. He truly wants his customers to be satisfied and I really appreciate his outstanding customer service. read more

Grooming service here should be avoided. Don't torture your animal with people who don't understand dogs. I trained detection dogs of several breeds, and none are the same, but all dogs will respond to the correct handling. Brought my boy in for a nail grind, as we have done many times at PetSmart all over the country and was incredibly dissatisfied. His nails look like they were barely touched. The point of a grind isn't to make the ends flat, it's to reduce nail length. Taking him into the back where I can still hear him yelp doesn't hide the mistakes your making in handling, and his nails show the poor job that was done. This isn't the first time this has happened, but it will be the last here. SR staff had a really good groomer who went to run Rohnert Park's PetSmart, and after they lost her the SR location went to crap. I've not had a positive experience since she left. I get that you think "dogs like you" but not all dogs are going to be a lab, and to be in the business you need to have some brains about all breeds, and understand how to handle all dogs. I'd suggest some kind of actual education for the groomers in dog behavior, customer service, and grooming. read more

I bought a snake from the petsmart in Santa Rosa plus all the accessories. I was told that it are a couple of days ago so wait till Thursday to feed it again. I bought it a live fuzzy but it serious not eat. The same thing a week later. I called the store (which would be within its return policy time) and was told to try frozen mice since that is what it ate there. I tried that for two weeks so nothing. I cakes the door and was told by the manager (very cold and blunt) that it was part the return policy time and nothing they could do. I tried to call the 800 number and got the and result. These vets & techs are by far some of these most compassionate loving & caring people ever.. we had to put down our beloved Bubba last Monday.. he was 13 & we had the privilege to be with him for the last 12 years.. it is one of the hardest decisions for a family member to make.. they came out with a flat ( hey was140 lbs and had lost the use of his hind quarters.) they came in & explained everything in detail & gave us as much time as we needed to be with him till the end.. the vet even explained she might be in tears because she realizes & cares so much that it effects her deeply( how awesome is that).. what an amazing staff we were privileged to have for such a sad time.. My dog has been groomed at PetSmart for 6 years, but after my recent visit, I won't take him there again. First, they have an entirely new, untrained staff. My dog is 13 years old, and can be a little grumpy, but I told them (since they were new), that in past visits, the groomers have always said "He does great with a little positive reinforcement and lots of petting." I know he's not perfect, but the staff has always successfully groomed him in the past (at least 15 visits). I left him with the new folks, and 3.5 hours later got a phone call - I assumed he was finished. They told me that my dog growled when they tried to clean his ears, so they were unable to complete the grooming service because they deemed him "aggressive." I asked if they had at least bathed him or trimmed his nails - they hadn't. I asked if they had done any part of the grooming service - they hadn't. I asked why they waited three and a half hours to call me - but the only reply I received was "We don't take aggressive dogs here." I hung up and went to pick up my dog. The young girl who brought me my dog didn't even speak when she handed me the leash. No communication from her at all. Not even a 'hello,' or 'let me tell you what happened,' or 'sorry we couldn't complete your grooming,' or 'here's your dog.' Nothing. Atrocious customer service! I waited for her to say something, ANYTHING but she literally didn't speak. After I got home, I called Hair Of The Dog Grooming based on their impeccable Yelp reviews. I just picked up my dog from Hair Of The Dog - my pup looks amazing, he was well-behaved, and the groomer said he wasn't a problem at all. Better yet, they don't kennel your dog. Absolutely terrible grooming experience today! Dropped off of our 15 year old, 6 lb, long haired Chihuahua, Wee Willie, after an online pre-scheduled appointment. We arrived at 7:45 a.m. for an 8 a.m. appointment. Discussed what was needed. All good! We returned after a call from the groomer, Gabby, at 11:30 a.m. When we arrived, Willie was obviously stressed. The grooming was bad... I mean, really bad. Willie is a long haired Chihuahua, that has always had a "lion-cut". His groomer, Gabby, told us she didn't use scissors on him, not explaining why. His paws, area between his toes, the anal area, an area around his genital area had not been clipped. A really shoddy job on a really passive 15 year old pup. Really? Really??? We put our trust in their hands for the pest outcome for sweet, elderly pup. We're really upset with the outcome of this 3 1/2 hour, $64 outcome. We'll definitely won't be back.... if PetSmart management would like to talk with us re this, we'd be open to chatting. We are not unreasonable. read more

This is a wonderful store, but be careful about one one thing. On at least several occasions the sales tags displayed by the product(s) I wanted to buy were actually for different products.
