I was warmly greeted when I opened the door and an associate asked if they could help me find anything. Since it was my first visit I said that I just wanted to be look around. The store was clean and well organized. The dog washing tubs were clean. I took advantage of the free pet scale to weight my dog. They seem to have a very comprehensive selection of dog and cat foods, toys, medications and gear. A very knowledgeable young man answered my questions and showered my dog with love and affection that she totally enjoyed. Based on my positive experience I think that they will be my pet store of choice. The check out person was also very nice. I used to enjoy shopping there over the years, but an unpleasant experience there with 2 of the young women working there, and their unprofessional and rude passive aggressive attitudes has prompted me to no longer buy my pet supplies there. Petco needs to install a more customer service oriented manager and teach employees better customer service skills, if they want to keep customers. Was not given clear communication over the phone. I called around 4pm to ask what time the self serve dog washes were open until, the exact words I was told were "we take last payment for dog washes at 6pm". To me, that sounds like as long as you make it by 6 to pay for your dog wash, you can still use the bath. I drove 20 minutes across town and made it by 5:50 pm, as did another couple with their dog, just to be turned away as soon as we walked in the door. Pretty unfortunate I had to waste 40 minutes of my day driving back and forth when I called beforehand to make sure. You'd think they would give a more clear answer when someone asks a question but the employees didn't care in the slightest and you can tell. Oh well! I read reviews before going here and still.... Didn't bring dog shampoo. We ended up Just buying a bottle because as other reviewers have said, the one provided is very watered down. The basic dog wash station and blow dry- there's only one blow dry station I could see and the counter that's there doesn't support more than 25lbs. So be prepared to sit on a chair if your dog is good. If not... to chase them around with a loud blow dryer. It got the job down tho. The best thing? $20 bucks to wash and dry - no time limit. My husband and I walked to this store because it's right around the corner from us. We needed to get collars and tags for our new kittens and we're excited to pick something out after work. We were ignored when we walked in while the two employees were chatting - which is totally fine by me. I like to be left alone when shopping and I know it's super boring working retail. When we got to the register and we're picking out tags - I dare say we were scolded and yelled at that we better hurry up because they were closing in THREE MINUTES. It was super off putting and made us feel awkward because we needed to stay there for another few minutes to get the engraving done. When it was finally done the store manager pushed us out of the store and when we said something about the treatment she slammed the door on us. Brought my dog here for a bath after she spent a day running around a farm and was in desperate need of a bath. I came here as a last resort to bathe my dog since my usual spot was closed and this was the only place open on Sunday. Originally I drove to the Petco because they advertised a self service dog wash-photos included on their website, but when I got there, there wasn't a self service dog wash anywhere in the store, only "professional" grooming. Upon viewing Unleashed's photos I assumed I'd be walking into a self service facility as it is pictured on not only the website, but Yelp as well. I was shocked to see a completely different set up than advertised but really needed her bathed before going home. Cost: $15 per dog wash Materials provided: two bottles of puppy shampoo, a conditioner, a rubber massager for lathering, and 3 towels. * the shampoo is so heavily watered down I needed to use an entire bottle and part of the second bottle provided just to shampoo her. The shampoo smells like baby shampoo and despite the amount used to lather her, she still left smelling like the farm. Setup: The tubs are located at the back right corner of the store and has 3 tubs. 2/3 tubs are functioning. The tubs available to bathe in are a too low to the ground and requires you to hunch over while bathing. The sides of the tub aren't deep enough and even with an apron I left with the front of my shirt and legs of my jeans completely soaked. There is a loop collar in the tub to hold your dog in place that is loose enough for a dog to slip through that is positioned on the outside of the tub. Why is the collar not positioned inside the tub to ensure your pets safety? There's a hose with a nozzle that offers a variety of flow options that are great for breeds with thicker hair, but the problem with this is that the nozzle sits in a wall hanger positioned in the exact spot your forehead is forced into because the tubs are too low. Since the tub is low, the sides where water sprays is also low so you need to hunch over to avoid being sprayed and if you don't hunch, you risk not washing your dogs entire body. I can't even tell you how many times my head was gashed by this hook, not safe for people when you put a hook on a wall at eye/forehead level. The dog washing space is on tile but the only mats in the entire space are in the dog bath tub, no mat at the base of the tub for owners to stand on to prevent slipping. They do a quick clean using only water to rinse the tubs after use-no disinfectant?? I saw a review mention a blow dryer on site. There was no blow dryer and pet owners were escorting their soaking wet dogs across tile linoleum to exit the building. You can go to Pet Food Express, pay $15 for a self service dog wash and get a completely different experience. One that's functional and accommodating for not only your pets, but you as well. More importantly it's safe. Charging $15 for watered down shampoo, improperly set up facilities and a nasty bruised lump from poorly positioned hooks is a half a**ed job imo. You should not be charging more than your competitors if your facility is not as described or pictured, unsafe and lacking the bare essentials. There are self service dog washes in Santa Rosa that offer better facilities that are properly equip for functionality that aim to protecting your dog and you that only cost $12-water, shampoo, rinse, conditioner, rinse, blow dryer and disinfectant to rinse the bath after. My trainer, Charlie, has been so helpful with me and my pup over the last few months. They are so patient and supportive and a total natural with the dogs. I feel like I've got a whole new dog now! Charlie helped me understand my dog a lot better, and I think my dog understands me better now, too. I definitely can't recommend them enough. A much smaller version of Petco. A very limited store with not many products to offer. The products they offer are sky high and I usually end up finding them for 1/2 the price on Amazon. One good thing they have available here is the self serve dog wash. It so easy to come hear, leave a mess behind here instead of in your bathroom. One issue with that is, if someone brought their flea ridden dog here, and blew them dry, blowing their fleas all over the environment, then you put your dog at risk. That is my only issue with self service. Don't forget to hit up the clearance rack for super killer deals. Clearance rack is located on the end caps in the corner of the store. read more

I've been here a few times and the people were nice, but tonight the manager was so rude that I felt compelled to add this review. We were completely ignored when we walked in while the manager and another employee were talking about being rude to people they didn't want to be around. Then when we get to the register she proceeds to tell us that if we need to engrave tags it has to be 'RIGHT NOW' because she has somewhere to be. We finished as quickly as we could and thanked her but she looked the other way and didn't say a thing, as if we were only there to bother her. I worked retail for over 10 years and I would never have treated a customer that way. I don't know what her problem was, but it really puts me off from going there again. read more

An excellent experience. Super friendly welcome at the register. Bath area clean and well maintained. When the pup and I were done, I needed to get some dog food. It was the second time I had looked for a particular brand in the size bag I wanted. I wish I'd caught the name of the guy who knew allll about why the brand hadn't come in, and recommended something else. My pup loves it and after comparing ingredients, it became apparent to me that it was a superior product to the one I'd been using. At about the same price. Kudos to him!! read more

I signed up for the puppy dog training class with Scarlett and she canceled after the second class because she was ill which was fine and now this weekend she canceled because she had a "more important " companion dog to train. Totally bummed out about the experience I did talk to the manager and he was very nice and told me I can have a refund if I have my contract and original receipt - I am going to go to the store tonight and see if they keep there word guaranteeing there refund. I have always come in this store and it's always been very clean and maintained in the dog wash area. This time, it was a disaster. I came in to wash my dog and it was already a filthy floor and one of the tubs was still dirty. Finished washing my dog, left, came back 45 minutes later cuz I forgot poop bags. STILL FILTHY. I brought it up to the girl at the cash register and she didn't seem to care whatsoever. I even mentioned to her that a customer walked in, looked at the floor, and walked out. I went in on superbowl Sunday for a self-wash, and blow dry. I asked Charlie if I could try one of their Furminators to de-shed some of my dogs under coat. Charlie was awesome, helpful, and knowledgeable. She got a Furminator de-shedding tool for me, and it worked great! When I was done, I went looking for their Furminators, to purchade one. Thats when the othe young woman working there chased me down, accused me of cutting my dogs nails and coat. And told me I had to leave. I asked for her name, and she told me again, that I have to leave HER store. I told her that I needed to pay for my services. And, that I was trying to get away from her! After more provoking from her, I told her multiple times that it was SHE who needed to walk away, because I needed to pay for my services and also I had done nothing wrong. She needs a different job where she does not deal with customers. Or, she needs more training in customer service. Again, Charlie was great. I never did get the name of the rude employee. She wouldn't give me her name. So she is a young brunette with blue eyes, who worked on Superbowl Sunday. This review is solely for the self-serve dog wash because that is really the reason that brings us to this Petco. They have a self-serve dog wash area with three raised bath tubs. For $10, they provide the shampoo, conditioner, scrubbers and brushes, towels and a drying station with a high power blower. The shampoo is really watery, and I end up using practically half a bottle on our shepherd mix to get the job done, but that's fine. If they want to water down the shampoo, I'll use more. If they didn't water it down I could use less. It's really a wash to me. (If I remember, I bring my own shampoo but these days I don't seem to remember.) Once we're done destroying the dog bath area...let's call a spade a spade--the reason we don't wash our dog at home is because it's totally worth the $10 to not make a huge mess in our own bathroom--we usually grab two or three dog Oreos from the cookie bar to reward our dog for being a good boy. They hardly ever charge us for just a couple of cookies. I'd give them an extra star if they didn't use half-assed shampoo products but even with that, this is totally worth the $10. read more

Great place to bathe your dog. They provide shampoo, moisturizer, towels and brush. Toothbrush and paste, too, if you want it. The setup is easy in and out, even for the reluctant big dog (in the next tub over). Our Jack Russell hats a bath, but the sides of the tub and the leash connector kept him where we needed him. We were in and out in about 15 minutes and were very happy with the whole experience. The staff cleans up when you're done, you just wash and go. read more

My son left to go to a training for the weekend and his dog seamed out of sorts so I planned this spa day. I literally had four workers helping me and giving RYu love and attentions was even lent combs and brushes to help with his coat. One of the people helping was the trainer and she gave me several ideas on combating Ryu and his selective eating as well as his chewing toys! Success!!! I went here to give my dog a bath. The set up is convenient with bathtubs high enough you don't have to bend over to bathe the dog. They give you towels and "shampoo" and there is a hair dryer to dry them off. My big issue is the "shampoo" they give you isn't shampoo at all. It seems at one point there was shampoo in the bottle but once it got to the bottom, they just fill it up with water. So you don't actually get your dog clean, it just basically a rinse. The "shampoo" barely had any suds at all and was so watered down i could not wash the dog at all. Then they are so short staffed I couldn't even get help from anyone to bring me real shampoo.
