You can tell Kelly takes a lot of pride in the integrity of the historic home and of her business. Ashley was wonderful too, they were excellent hostesses but did not hover and it felt very quiet and secluded- exactly what I needed! My husband and I always feel so welcomed here. Kelly is incredibly kind, accommodating, and inviting. Breakfast is excellent every morning, and they provide a daily charcuterie board to snack on, which is such a nice, thoughtful touch. We also loved that they have a fully stocked, self service coffee bar available anytime, featuring a great variety of coffees, espressos, teas, and even hot chocolate to suit whatever mood you are in. If you are looking for a place to unwind and relax, this is it. The staff is so friendly, and having spa services available right on site makes it even better. Plus, it is in a great location, just a short, easy drive into Middletown to grab lunch or dinner. This is the perfect place to truly unwind and recharge. My husband and I stayed at the Inn at Antietam for two nights in the Clara Barton Suite, and we had…read morea wonderful experience.  Will greeted us upon arrival, showed us to our room, and spent about ten minutes describing the local dining options in the surrounding towns.  The inn is an excellent base for exploring Antietam National Battlefield (it actually sits on a portion of the battlefield itself) and visiting nearby attractions, such as Harpers Ferry and Shepherdstown.  Our room was comfortable, and the bathroom had been recently remodeled.  The property also features a lovely garden that attracts a wide variety of birds.  I especially enjoyed sitting on the porch with a good book while watching the birds.  It was incredibly relaxing.   The breakfast portion of this bed and breakfast exceeded our expectations.  Miriam's baking skills are truly exceptional!  The homemade pastries were always fresh and delicious, the coffee was excellent, and they happily accommodated our dietary needs.  They also go out of their way to source fresh, minimally processed ingredients for their meals, which we greatly appreciated.   The highlight of our stay, however, was getting to know Miriam, Will, and Hamish (the dog).  We genuinely enjoyed our conversations with them throughout our visit, and they made us feel less like hotel guests and more like friends or family visiting their home.  They are warm, engaging people, and we could easily imagine being friends with them.   Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  The breakfast alone makes the Inn at Antietam worth the visit, but when you combine it with the beautiful house, peaceful setting, and genuinely welcoming hosts, it becomes an exceptional experience.  We would gladly stay here again and have already recommended it to a few people.

I'm so HAPPY we followed his advice! The meal was wonderful and the ambiance great. Jessie also gave me an excellent recommendation for someone to help me shuttle my car from one trailhead to another - Rose was phenomenal and so knowledgeable of the area and best places to park my car in the morning. I was able to secure a parking spot right in front of the house both nights, but there is also a well-lit, free, public parking lot just steps behind the back of the house!! Perfect! I could not have asked for better people taking care of me this weekend! I highly recommend Bay Farms B&B, especially, if you are biking/hiking/walking the C&O Canal Towpath!

Come for the railfanning, stay for the history…read more I first learned about Harpers Ferry, WV while sourcing stock footage for work. I came across the same clip in a rail safety ad, which made me look up directions to Harpers Ferry from DC. The historic park/town is served by the very MARC trains that pass outside my DC window each afternoon. You can describe Harpers Ferry as *deceptively* close because it's a 90 minute train ride, with planes flying into Dulles close enough to make out the airline. Looking for hotels there, Stonehouse Bed & Breakfast was the first that came up, with great reviews. Chris was very helpful and responsive via text and email. I booked the Top Room, which was $170 for a night including taxes. The quaint B&B has three accessible floors, as the family naturally lives onsite. The first floor is the main entrance with the common/dining areas, and the patio overlooking Maryland Heights and the Potomac/Shenandoah Rivers. The second floor has more rooms, one with a full balcony. And the third floor is the Top Room, with windows overlooking each side of the vintage building. If you Google pictures of Harpers Ferry, Stonehouse is in nearly all of the shots, since the balconies are front and center of the skyline. The town itself is like a real life snow globe. But the B&B, the litany of museums, eateries and shoppes around it, as well as the train station directly across the street make it an overall ideal place to stay, be it for hiking, or for something else: A love of trains is what brought me to Stonehouse, so take note that rail traffic can be heavy in certain times of the day. But the light rumbles also helped put me to sleep in the already soft, cozy bed. A container of water was provided, and while glasses should have been cleaned of dust first, it was still a really nice touch. The room also had playing cards, ear plugs, plenty books and a whole lounge chair. Checkin was a simple set of instructions at the door with my name on it, with checkout simply being your absence at the appropriate time. In my case, I only booked an overnight stay, getting in at 8pm and leaving around 6:30am, with checkout/checkin being the traditional 11am/4pm. While I didn't stay for complementary breakfast, I did catch a stellar sunrise between the mountains, as well as nature footage from the neighboring park. All of that to say, I definitely look to return to Stonehouse B&B later this year.

Or, con? ‍) - Barking Don't be surprised if you end up with a chorus of barking puppers, which can be heard throughout the house. I don't want to brag, but Bern Bern didn't make a peep. SMI is a lovely old country inn on 14 acres, I believe, with a number of different venues (indoors and out) for meetings, parties, and weddings. The rooms (7 in total) were eclectic, in a good way. All four of their largest rooms that we occupied were spacious, with king beds and spa tubs with separate showers. All were well maintained and clean upon check-in. We had no complaints. I'm not sure when we will return to the area, but when we do, we will not hesitate to return!

I was on the fence to book this place given its hefty price tag, and glad I went for it and completely agree with the glowing 5 star reviews. The bubbly host Manisha is very warm and welcoming. She cordially gave us a 20 min tour around the property, which was built in 1908, and even gave me a bonus tour of the other rooms afterwards. She kindly answered all of our questions and didn't rush us. The Peacecock Room is the most spacious and best room (aside from the bridal suite), elaborately decorated in peacocks. We loved it! The little touches like the handmade soap, a set of wine glasses, and a wine opener made the stay so memorable and special. While the rooms aren't temperature controlled, the electric flameless fireplace kept the room warm. The double capacity jacuzzi was perfect for my hubby and I and even had lights (some of the other rooms have smaller jacuzzi, so be sure to check). The rooms were clean minus a couple of lady bugs and stink bugs (which is too be expected out in the country). Dr. Fauci's assistant stayed here and Manisha informed us of the extensive sanitation process, even the pillows and decorations are quarantined for 6 days! The backyard is well groomed and really spacious with a nice patio and heat lamp, which kept us warm sitting outside in the frigid winter. Our dog loved running around! You can see the stars and constellations really well. It would make a great wedding venue! The Christmas decorations around the property are really nice. The owners really go the extra mile and put a lot of TLC into the property. The 6 course breakfast is delicious and bursting with flavor. Between the veggie quiche, cheesy potatoes, scone, pancakes, yogurt, and fresh OJ, I was stuffed! The fresh butterscotch scone was divine and devoured my mine and my hubby's! The cheesy potato had a nice spicy kick. Everything was so fresh and delicious. All the courses come out at once on a large tray. While my hubby and I chose to sit at the communal table (the chairs are roughly 6 feet apart), you can take the tray up to your room. Manisha and her family greeted us and thoroughly explained the dishes and chatted with us for a bit, even her son made an appearance! The bed and breakfast has a nice bar with wine, cider, and alcohol based on an honor code system. Water and soda is complementary, they even had Coke 0! The complementary fudgy brownies by the breakfast area during the day were sweet and tasty. Again the little complimentary stuff gives this bed and breakfast a nice resort feel. The beds are small, for 2 adults to share a full size bed can be at times uncomfortable, however... it's still nice to be snugged up. There is no central AC, but there are very powerful room air conditioners in the main rooms: basement, bedroom and basement. I kept the bedroom an "arctic tundra" (59°) which I loved and she hated. There are plenty of linens provided, so she was able to stay warm. Beings that it is an old house, some friends from the other side still could visit. Saturday night, the basement in which we never were in had a light on that we never turned on and was off the next morning. Fluke? More? Nothing to be scared of. The price is super reasonable, we will be back.
