The driver took my vehicle to an undisclosed location for over an hour, made me wait over an hour at my mechanic as I could not get a loaner with my vehicle not there, and made me panic wondering why my vehicle did not arrive at the approved destination. I called AAA guest services (the service that contracted this company) and they argued that the driver did not unload my vehicle anywhere else per this company, when the driver told me over his personal number that he unloaded my car in "one of the yards" and would be loading it back up soon. I asked for management to contact me, they still have not. I pay for premium service, was given extremely poor service, and my car was missing for almost 2 hours. Had the driver called and informed me of what was occurring, this would not be an issue, but there was no communication whatsoever about the car I pay for being displaced intentionally without my knowledge or consent. Why would I trust this service again? What if I had rode with the driver? Would I have been stuck in a lot for over an hour waiting for the driver to come back for me? Better yet, why should I pay for this service again? I would love for these questions to be answered, or this review handled better than my request for service was. read more

I had gone through aaa and they sent a company out Knoxville to assist us.Before they arrived Stooksberrys intercepted and grabbed my car up.Once l found out l confronted them. Then they tried to over charge me even though it was covered through aaa. When l went to there bussiness the owner asked me if l told aaa the situation and the owner asked me if l informed aaa of there bs.The owner wasn't happy l did that so he threatened me and wanted to fight me.l left the building to avoid his anger.He then followed us outside and got behind my car. He then said l tried to run him over. I called the police because of his crazy actions. When they arrived he tried to lie about the situation. But when l saw the cameras on there building and asked the police to look at the footage on the cameras he changed his tune quickly. This could have been a felony l could have been falsely charged for without the cameras being there. This was the crazest exchange l have ever been involved in. I recommend you stay clear of this business.If you have to deal with this company it could be a nightmare like it was for me. read more

I was with a couple friends and our car broke down. I called AAA and they told me Gerald from Stooksbury Towing would be coming. 4 hours later and 3 more calls to AAA and Stooksbury still did not come. Finally I called them myself and spoke with Gerald. He told me that he doesn't want to get one of his guys tied up for 2-3 hours to come get us. He said AAA doesn't pay them enough. So I asked him, if his company is a AAA partner and AAA called them to do a job, why will they not take it? I told him we were stranded, in a location where we were unable to get an Uber/Lyft and it was starting to get late. He said he couldn't help us, call back in the morning and if he was available he could tow us for $350. Thanks for nothing Stooksbury and AAA!! read more

Called and talked to a dispatcher who was friendly. Couldn't tow our truck until the next day because the dealership was closed. he said we would be first on the list and the driver will meet us between 9 and 9:30. We called when no one showed up, and we weren't in the list. They said new tires were being put in the tow truck and would call when he was ready, about an hour. Two hours later and he hasn't called. We called another tow company and we have already been towed to the dealership. We passed the tow company and they had several tow trucks on the lot. Extremely unreliable and unprofessional. Cannot recommend. They never called. read more

After a stressful accident when we live over 150 miles away, Debby was the most helpful person through this entire experience! She handled our insurance company who was being incredibly difficult. My son was telling her all about his baseball game while we were cleaning my belongings out of my car. A few days later I called to release my car to insurance and she even asked how my sons baseball game went. The nicest experience! And incredibly helpful! First off i know how the towing business works. My family has had towing companys before. Stooksburys is NOT a good company. IF you can get them out to you they over charge ...... $200 for a tow that cost $65 with Carr's and Skyline . Unfortunately AAA uses this company in our area. I will be talking with AAA about this. Had a car towed and they claimed it was further than AAA would pay the full bill. so it still cost me $105 . I called AAA and this was NOT true. Luckily AAA reimbursed me.. I WILL NOT be using them again and WILL NOT recommended them to anyone. This review isn't just off 1 tow. I have tried using my AAA 3 times before and they never showed and never called to let us know they weren't coming. One time was at 2am after my wife had a accident coming home from work. Waited for 2 hours with NO word from them. Called them since that's who AAA dispatched they said they had no driver. Guy said we don't have a driver. Wouldn't give a explanation of why they didn't call us. Terrible business. BEWARE..... read more

This in no way says they aren't good at towing but what I don't appreciate was almost needing my car to be cleaned up due to their aggressive driving In the middle of a busy downtown area. Legit rode my bumper for a solid 5 minutes then immediately got over and cut us off slamming on their brakes. Best part was in a company flatbed truck. I understand you have places to be but I've got people I love in my car and i don't appreciate that at all. Chill out & be patient, you'd think a towing company would say the same thing after the destruction they see daily. I'm sure y'all are great at what you do but driving like that in a big flatbed in a busy town- careless. read more

My son was run off the road on Chapman Hwy last night by someone who then left the scene. Stooksbury Towing was called, and he was informed that they were going to charge $600 to tow the car from Sevierville to Maryville. My son told them that he would get someone today from Maryville who would do the job for less. He was just told that Stooksbury had to be paid $350 before they would release the car to another towing company after towing the car approximately a mile and a half. Call Stooksbury if you want to be held up. I would never recommend a company that has such a lack of conscience that they would charge a recent widow an amount that should be considered robbery! read more

My vehicle was stolen and they were called to pick it up when it was recovered. After losing all my money , car, and job still charfed 250 dollars plus 50 a day to store. On vacation in the Smokey's in a rental car and had an accident that made the car un-drivable. Carter from Stooksbury's came to the scene and gave us a ride to our rental car agency to get a replacement car on his way to take the damaged car to their lot. Very personable young man, my wife and I enjoyed his conversation and professionalism. I highly recommend Stooksbury's Towing!!! We were leaving the national park when I realized my air dam was almost completely detached and dragging the ground. After a few failed-attempt calls to try to find auto service in Gatlinburg, I decided to drive slowly back to the hotel. Luckily, a Stooksbury's Towing truck happened to be leaving the park right in front of me. I called the number on the truck, and they pulled over immediately to help and fastened the air dam back onto my car. The tow truck driver quoted us "around $150" to take our car to their shop after an accident. Then we were charged $387! To have our car towed 9 miles. They also picked it up around 6 pm ,we picked it up from them at 4 pm the very next day. They insisted on charging us for 2 days,at $40 a day. They were cold, rude and heartless about it too.I am a single mom, working as a maid and this is a week till Christmas-this crooked thieving business has caused my family serious pain. And apparently this is how they operate, I have heard from several folks about their TERRIBLE experience with this business. Never ever use them read more

3-3-22 stooksbury's towing was sent out by aaa autoclub. i needed a flatbed to tow my 1969 cadillac el dorado. the driver, nice guy touted how good he is with towing classic cars. it took about (one hour) to get the car out of the garage & and a few feet down the driveway on the truck. the car was repeately picked up and put down on the driveway to get the car straight on the driveway. it is my contention that the three extra lifts as well as pulling motion just to get the car straight to be loaded caused stress, ie excessive torque to front of car causeing 2 front glass lenses to crack. the classic car is 53 yrs old ! and in great condition . the car was lifted a total of ( 5 times ) . i never saw the crack lenses, the operator pointed them out ! the operator as well as the owner said they are just ( to good at their jobs ) to have damages my car. owner called me a liar ! driver said he was sorry . read more

Many raves for Stooksbury's Towing. We were visiting Gatlinburg over the weekend for a concert. After returning from the concert around 10:30 we discovered we had at least one dead battery. We were with friends in a public pay-fo-parking lot in diesel pickup with two batteries. I called AAA and they sent Stooksbury's. It wasn't long before I had a call advising me the traffic was slowing his arrival and it was as bad as I have experienced. Just before he arrived a thunderstorm of epic proportions came through. After the front passed we had steady rain. When the tech arrived he went right to work diagnosing the problem, rather than just jump-starting the vehicle. After about 20 minutes of working in the rain, the truck was running and we had a printout showing one of the batteries only has 14 cranking amps. He had a battery on his truck but not the one we needed or he would have replaced it. All in all, AAA was very efficient and Stooksbury's is my go to auto service center. read more

Called AAA 9:00 A.M. 12/24/18.Stooksbury called back 5 minutes later and said driver would be out in 45 minutes to an hour.After 1 hour(10:05) called Stooksbury to check status and was told he'd be here in about 15 minutes. AAA called me back at 10:30 to inquire if they had arrived and I told them no.AAA called Stooksbury and agent was told driver was 6miles away and would be here soon.At 11:00 A.M. I called AAA and once again they called the towing company and that agent spoke to "Dave" who expressed his confusion for the delay and he would call the driver to see what was wrong.AAA also said "Dave " would be calling me himself to let me know what was going on.Dave never called.Driver arrived 11:20 ,got my car started and informed me he had stopped to wash truck!!!! Also let me know that Stooksbury also sold batteries,I HAD a 12: 00 appointment which had to be cancelled. They really dropped the ball on this service call. In the future I will inquire if AAA uses some other company. read more
