I don't stop here often because I use the FoodTown closer to my house. Maybe once a month. The sales are good but the evening staff is a frat house of teenage girls and boys engaging in social talk while working the checkout. They are unsupervised and as I found out the other night if you don't watch them they will pack your items in another customer's bag. Shame on you Sop and Shop. This store is badly managed. the prices are ok. but they renovated it to look exactly the same and they started to charge more. wtf is that about?? But w/e at least it's not a C-Town or an Associated, those ghetto ass supermarkets I grew up going to. If you go on a weekend you won't find anything b/c the damn old people would've gotten to it already. They're fast, don't let the walkers fool you, they use it for leverage. The firemen go there to get their groceries. Yummy! (The firemen and the food!) But it's the best place to buy the staples: rice, pasta, blah blah blah... b/c they're cheaper. And it's really the only place to buy meats and the like b/c Garden Gourmet is a little too expensive. But I would steer clear of the seafood, it's all farmed and has that fishy smell. Yuck. Near store closing I was harassed by the armed security guard. I was going about my own business selecting my grocery items, when I noticed the security guard showing up and looking at me in nearly every isle I visited. At the checkout counter the guard also appeared and it was apparent that he was following me. I then addressed this with him and he became confrontational denying he was following me. After I paid for my items, I then asked to see the manager and made my complaint. I then went to my vehicle to load my groceries, I decided that I was going to follow up with the morning management and took some pictures. The guard then came out of the store, asked me why I was taking pictures, and continued to get confrontational. He also began to take pictures of my vehicle and license plate number using his phone. I've been a loyal customer and member of Stop N Shop since 2015 and this incident has changed my entire perception of the store. The place has significantly gone down hill! read more

The best grocery store near me. It's clean, has a good selection of produce, meat/fish, and non perishables. And it has parking!

Do not come to this store Sunday afternoons. Four of 12 registers are unstaffed with 15 minute lines. I wish there was a "no junk food" line because all these high fructose corn syrup guzzlers are hogging up the lines. read more

It's one of the only places close enough to me that I can shop at other than Garden Gourmet. I almost always go late at night, when the restocking happens. Good deals of the basics, and they have everything that a regular grocery store should have (which I find is normal in New York). I love the freezer and cereal sections. read more

Today is May 20th 2011 Veggies at Stop & Shop are expensive .... I stack up whenever I see the sales below: 1. SHRIMP almost always on sales appx. $10 for 2lbs of frozen uncooked shrimp! 2. BEANS low sodium Goya .... great price ... better than Pathmark on 207st sometimes. 3. PREGO SAUCE ( this is my favorite sauce) sometimes only $2 each but Target has it right now for less that $2 a bottle. 4. CHICKEN BROTH OR STOCK $2 EACH! 5. WHOLE WHEAT PASTA FOR LIKE 89 CENTS or less ! taste so good! 6. The PREGRESSO Soup (taste better now)and its on sale a lot here. (it has high sodium ... so watch out ) 7. Chicken here is much cheaper than C-Town. 8. Sometimes the CELESTIAL AND STASH TEAS ARE $2EACH! Also ... waiting on line is fast. And they are very helpful when you use the self service. They pack your stuff for you! Sometimes the line for the movie rental is annoying. 9. Sometimes ... just sometimes... they have good prices on BERRIES. *10 They have these sugarfree lowfat chocolate muffins that are the best muffins ever! And I am a Pastry Chef. They are $4.99 pack of 4 .... but once in a while it's worth getting these muffins (but these muffins sell out fast) read more

it's a grocery store. things are not rotting or poorly organized and you may find things easily. it's wheelchair accessible, and lots of parking if you drive. There is a Bx9 bus stop in the front of the store going in both directions and 2 blocks away a bx10 bus. The main issue I have with this supermarket is that the carts rarely have solid wheels that work and don't squeak! Sure there are long lines, but I've chosen to go during the day or later in the evening and there is not a crowd and I don't usually have to wait long. It seems many of the comments were during a time when Foodtown was under construction and lots more customers came to this location until it reopened. Now we have 4 grocery stores in a 4 block radius, and all are fairly solid. There are some brands they do not carry, but that's what places like Fairway are for. read more

Ok place to go for basics, like milk, bread, fruit. One thing that really bothers me about this place is that there are always expired sales stickers on the shelves, leading customers to believe that an item is on sale when it no longer is. This happened to me just today in fact. Bought a loaf of bread that had a sale sticker in front of it on the shelf .When I checked out, rang up at regular price. Went back to check the sticker. The sale ended three days ago. How difficult is it to remove the sale sticker the day the sale ends? I'm not sure if this is deliberate on the part of the store, or just incompetence or laziness on the part of the managers, but this has been an ongoing problem here. My advice is always check the sale expiration date on the shelf tag to make sure the item is actually still on sale. read more

Would not recommend shopping here unless you had no other choice. 2 stars are only for the occasionally good sales/deals and convenient location. Writing this review as I had yet another negative service experience there today which is too long to get into. Parking Lot: Consistently littered with trash and shopping carts which the staff does not collect. There is also no cart return station within the parking lot. Layout: is crowded and is even more crowded because they are consistently attempting to stock during peak shopping times (Sat and Sun afternoons.) They should do this early in the morning or at night. Management/Service: Poor at best. It is clear that they are understaffed and the staff they do have do not take pride in their work or care about the customers. Sales: Often times the products advertised in the circular are items they do not carry (not just out of stock) even though the circular is specific to this S&S location Cleanliness: The floors are dirty and there is often an odor in the meat and fish areas. I don't think the shelves have ever been wiped down. Misc.: There are cabbies there all the time hustling customers for rides. They block the entrance and exit. There is also a "security guard" who does not move them out of the way and who also blocks the entrance and exit. read more

The biggest (or accurately, smallest) and most crowdede piece of garbage Stop and Shop around. They obviously spent a lot of money building nice big stores to replace smaller stores for the people in Westchester, or expanding and improving other stores, and a lot of money buying a bunch of Pathmarks, yet they apparently have no interest in doing anything about the biggest piece of cr ap location around. The front of the store is mostly glass, with aluminum frames not supporting the roof. I see no reason they can't extend this side of the building greatly improving the store like they would do for other locations. There have been ads on television about how their produce is 'triple checked' for freshness. While some of the produce is good, I have seen such garbage at the core of organic lettuce heads being, all the browning leaves obviously having been removed sold for $2.99 and wilting organic kale and other cruddy produce being sold. They obviously don't send that produce to this, the smallest by far produce section I've seen in a Stop and Shop. They have ads for their 'wonderful' organic and natural food section. The ad is a lie. The 'natural' food section here is a little space on one side of one aisle with mostly snack food items, NOTHING like the ad. It's the only 'national' supermarket brand (meaning large chain, with their other stores like Giant), around here, so they probably figure we have no choice. I grew up in this community and been shopping at this supermarket since it first opened and was there with my family at the grand opening with the violinist playing which was beautiful. The problem now? Yes it is overcrowded and expected, BUT in recent weeks go to the express line (12 items or less) and you find people with a full load of groceries which of course arguments ensue. My most recent visit a week ago I just needed a couple of items for dinner and here we go someone with a full load of groceries. Of course, me a few others complained. What were we told? Per management it is a NEW policy employee's cannot do or say anything to those individuals to provide good customer service? Really?!!! What about those of us in a rush and just need a couple of items and have the courtesy not to exceed the 12 item limit?!! This location is obviously the most convenient, but they can go to HELL with this new policy and will continue to take the drive to the Cross County location for all of my grocery needs where they take into consideration the needs of ALL their customers. read more

Local supermarket that's open till midnight? Count me in! I do love shopping there late at night and not have to wait in line. Ever.

Clean supermarket, but absentminded and disrespectful staff. I have never seen an associate cut in front of me while I am loading my groceries at the register and I am the only person on the line. An associate was behind me buying stuff but she took the liberty to cut around the register and had the cashier Pazzis ring up her items and I had to wait extra time while my items were already on the belt. The associate who rung me up was Pazzis and he knew I was ready, but he chose to ignore me and allow this behavior to slide. When I called the company to express my grief (4 times), I NEVER got a callback from any manager to discuss the matter. What disrespectful tactics from an establishment that I have been shopping at for many years. Not even an acknowledgement or an apology. That location , the associate who cut me and Pazzis should be ashamed of themselves. About 2 weeks will have passed and still, not one person from SAS has reached out to me to address the event that happened. Unbelieveable. My money is valuable but SAS doesnt value my money or my time! read more
